My DDs already know too. They're the same age as RAC's DD so they can all hang out together.....no beeping for us!!!;)

Hi RAC

Hi doubletroublemom! :wave2:

You said it, more adult time. We are counting down the days until our anniversary trip.

BBB no problem I would have gladly accepted an upgrade to 2 6's and give up our rooms to you! LOL In fact I am kinda disappointed:o
Ladies I will have an almost 11 year old DS and an almost 10 year old DD and almost 7 yr old DS and a 3 year old DS. My kids do not know about this trip yet either.

aw darn, if I'd known that I'd have wished you got bumped and I got your rooms instead! LOL
Sorry about that... well, if all stays the same we'll be neighbors! I hope you don't mind. :)

My kiddos at the time of the cruise will be just turned 12, 8, and almost 6. Just typing that out makes me realize how far off this cruise is... right now they are 10, just turned 7 yesterday!!!, and 4.5! Is there a way I can speed up "time" till the cruise without wishing the kids to grow up that fast? LOL

Go sooner??
LOL
Ah well, it is far off, but I will be willing to be that the time will fly by! I cant believe I am already going on my cruise that a rebooked while on board the Halloween Magic last year. It seemed like it would never get here, and now here I am am 12 days away. SPeaking of which, does anyone need anything?
Has anyone else gotten, the "Are you Crazy" looks about booking do far out ahead? I think I am going to try a Wonder cruise in September of 2005 with just DH and I again. We did that this year and it was awesome, no kids, just he and I! Everyone needs to do that at leats once! IT was great! LOL Though I did feel bad that the kids would have loced certain stuff, I knew that we would be sailing as a family just 2 months later, so the guilt didnt eat me up to badly! LOL
Everyone have their holiday plans rolling? We are just going to go over to my MILs home for Tday dinner and then pack up and hit the road for Cape Canaveral the next day. How bout y'all?

We are working both holidays this year. 16 hours each day. Tgiving and Christmas. Those are gonna be so longgggg hours. We are having an early Tgiving at my parents house next week. Am off the whole week. Thank goodness.

WOW! I just realzied I only had 9 days before we left! I have so much to do! You all wont see me around here much in the next few weeks! Keep it alive though! LOL :wave2: princess:

Amanda,

Have a great trip and bring us a little magic back.

Pam

P.S. Really wish we were cruising sooner.

I got so excited having found this thread (and this whole board) last night, that I forgot to post my message here!!! I am new to DIS cruising, but not at all new to cruising! Did the 'Big Red Boat' in '93 and came home with a 'little souvineir' just like the more recent DCL commercial stated... cruised many times on NCL and Home Lines (non-existent now.)

Can't wait to double-scoop with all the rest of you! DS will be 9 and DD will be 12 by the time we sail (wow- that makes it seem soooooo far away!)

I am not up on all the in's and out's of whats good and what's not in terms of staterooms, but will keep the Cat9 we got- my TA is great at scoping out upgrades, etc- and I have given her free reign to do what's best, provided we end up with a 9 or higher. I am one who truly spends NO time in the SR!!

Question for all of you- booked 1st sitting dinner, as my kids are used to dinner at 6... are we going to be innundated by toddlers and the like????? I'd love to hear what your past experiences have been regarding early vs late dinner... thanks!

Kiki:scratchin

Welcome kiki!!!!!! I just emailed you back! LOL :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc I am off in 7 days and havent even begun to pack you all!

Welcome Kikipug. We, also, have requested first seating at dinner with our DS who will be 11. We had late seating on our 6/5/04 cruise and enjoyed it, but decided to try early dinner this time. We're not much on the shore excursions, so I don't think we'll feel rushed getting ready for dinner. That, plus I'd like my food to settle a little before I get to bed. We're early to bed, early to rise in our family. I did tell myself that I was going to stay up later and catch some of the adult shows this time, though. As for toddlers at dinner, we had a few cranky toddlers at our late seating last time...

Thanks Sandi... my kids are up at the crack of dawn, and are the only kids I know that actually have a real bedtime (not adhered to on a cruise, obviously), so your rationale sounds great to me! I am thinking that the shows would be less busy, but I supposed thats not really the case, as all those who book later get stuck with 2nd seating whether they like it or not! What did your son wear on formal and semi-formal nights last time?

We're so opposite. Although the kids have an early bedtime when there is school the next day- I generally have to FORCE that on them... all of us (except DH- who's sleeping schedule is so messed up from rotating shifts at work it's not even funny) are late to bed/late to get up type people. So we chose late dinner seating... we plan on doing excursions/etc. at all the ports and we're used to eating dinner later after all the soccer, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, running teams, Awanas, etc. even during the school year anyway!

I hope it works out well for us... I just didn't really think early seating would work for us.

DS wore his suit/tie on formal night (Wal-Mart special). and just wore suit pants and dress shirt on semi-formal. He ended up wearing the suit pants with different shirts to dinner each evening. If the suit doesn't fit any longer by cruise time, we'll consider renting a tux for him. Doubt if he'll wear his suit again for anything else and we won't have to worry about packing one along. He still has a set bed-time on school nights, but is usually in bed early other nights also, only because mom and dad can't stay awake! Just getting old, I guess.:o

We opted for late seating on our upcoming cruise. We had early seating at first, because I had always heard that was better for the kids. Well last year on our Halloween cruise, I always felt so rushed trying to get dinner in. Then, when DH and I cruised in September without the kids, we opted for late seating to compare. Oh what a difference! It will be late seating for us from now on! Of course after I get back from my cruise next week, I may be singing a different story! LOL We will see how the kids deal with it. But they are all telling me they want to eat in the clubs anyways.

Amanda- Let us know how it goes! I am considering switching if I think about it hard enough. I am sure that with the number of people who WANT 1st sitting and don't get it, it shouldn't be hard to switch to late seating... the kids will be five hundred-something days older at that point... who knows what they will want to do??????

Enjoy your trip next week... I am so jealous!!!!!!!

Kikipug, DH and I were also on the Big Red in 93 for our honeymoon. I'm glad someone else remembers that boat. That was our one and only time cruising and cannot wait for 2006 to get here so we can do it again.

BTW, we're doing the 1st dinner rotation. My DS will be 9 at that time. He's use to eating around 6 now but, of course, who knows what he'll be like then.:wave2:

Yoowho...........leaving in 2 days and I only have the swimsuit bag packed! LOL WTG me! Only many many more bags to go...........any volunteers to come help me pack?

I hope you had a blast, Amanda! Be sure to tell us all about it when you get back!

(is it just me going crazy or has this board like changed drastically the setup and everything? LOL I thought I was on the wrong board at first! cause I click on it in my favorites... I thought I clicked on some other board LOL)

Glad to hear you prefer late seating too. I really think that for us it's going to work much better. My kiddos probably won't want to leave the clubs anyway...

We are home safe and sound! We had a great time! More later, but fyi, I know soome were curious, but late seating worked out splendidly, even with a toddler! 18 months old!
