File this in the category - "kids are growing up way to fast when..."

ds11, Mike, brought home the parent information sheet for the swim party the 5th grade classes will be having the last week of school at our neighborhood pool. I didn't realize the school district had a dress code which applied to swim suits (guess it makes sense for the high school pools...) instead of listing what was the acceptable swim swear someone decided to print the ENTIRE code which listed what was acceptable and unacceptable...

Per CCISD regulations:

"....Brazilian cut swimsuits, thongs, suits with spaghetti straps or cut-offs are not permissible. One piece bathing suits, Tankini's T-shirts and swim shorts are encouraged. Boy's bathing suits must fit at the waistline and must remain at the waist."

5th graders!!! :scared1:

Just be happy your school allows swimming. Our school district does not. No swimming activities. No pools, no teams, no parties. I learned this when Matt tried to do a project on scuba.

And DD13 used to lecture every smoker she saw until we made her stop... we were afraid some frustrated smoker might just smack her in the throws of a nicotine fit. :sad2:

My kids did that too! My Dad died mainly from emphysema (with other complications). After many years of smoking he quit in '82 I think - died in '98. Around '95 or so he was put on oxygen part-time - which eventually grew to full-time. Even though we didn't live close we visited a few times a year. My dad would tell them smoking was a dirty, smelly, stinking, expensive habit and not to do it. They relate smoking directly with losing their Grandpa. An amusing thing happenend the other day that's sort of related. DS16 had the pick-up truck over at his friends. I needed it to haul something so I needed to trade vehicles. I arrived and went up to the house to trade keys. DS said he left the keys in the truck in that middle thing - I said what thing - he said ya know that thing in the center that pulls out, the thing with the change in it - I had to think about it - I smiled when I realized he meant the ash tray! For some reason I couldn't bring myself to tell him what it's called :goodvibes

All this talk of gourmet dinner reminded me I havn't had mine yet from the last food discussion.

Being I came home a bit early, as I'm coming down with something which seems very much like bronchitis.

So out comes the fry pan.

Ahhhhh. such a wonderful smell. Even with bad sinuses I'm feeling eager.

Got to have a side...

Mark, I didn't know you had a dog. At least I figured you were cooking the dogs dinner because I know you would not feed that to Mary. :rotfl:

I shouldn't have answered my phone! I was 5 minutes away from walking out the door.

I made nachos for dinner last night and afterward DH said that it wasn't a great meal choice considering he's running a 5K tomorrow. Then he requests that I cook my "Greek" pasta tonight. That's not gonna happen since I pick up the girls, go to gymnastics for an hour and don't get home until 6:45. Sorry, the girls & I are having nachos again. He can fend for himself! Think I'll have a Mike's with my dinner tonight.

Would that be a mIke's hard lemonade? One of my favorites.

I am right there with you... My Mom, lung cancer in '99. She had quit smoking years earlier. Both girls hate smoking and all DD7 really knows first hand of her Nanna is that she died from smoking and took alot of baby pictures with her.

My girls call it the change dish... she got into the car with a friend's gandpa once and promptly told him that someone had put the fireplace ashes and trash in his change dish! He still tells that story... but does not smoke!! :cheer2:

When we get back from our cruise, we're considering dropping our 'land line' phone and going with only cell phones. Has anyone else done this? If so, have you had any problems giving up your 'land line'?

We gave up our land line, got Vonage, disconnected the telco wires altogether, and spliced the Vonage adapter into the telephone hub. So we have live outlets throughout the house, but its Vonage. Works like a charm. Had some problems at first, but we updated the firmware in our wireless router, and no problems since.

Okay, maybe "we" is the wrong pronoun.
