Don't mind him - he was brain dead for the past two years - we found it at Michael's this November - we put Maggie's soccer team action photos in them...There were all the standard sizes for photos.

Dang... An excuse to make an excursion to Michael's.

No, I feel the same way. I will not put our last name on the door signs. First names, YES, last names, NO. You're not alone on this one.

We have first names only --- no one ever calls us by our last names, at least no one we want to speak to :teeth:

Pam, how do you "customize" the ones that other people have posted? How do you get their names off and yours on? That's a problem I've been having.

Also, when you right click on a picture, how do you save it? Do you "save picture as" or "copy"?

Thanks.

Maria -- I have used ones that don't have their names. Nick and Julias mom said it was ok to use some of her designs. Then I save as picture, bring it in as a graphic in printmaster and add my own stuff.

Hey, Pam,

That is terrific!

susan

ps. where'd you get the background?

Used a plain yellow background, the tree/island is a clip art from Printmaster and then the mickey and minnie's are clip arts that I found on the web. Sun and clouds are also a clip art from printmaster

OK, now you guys have me worried. I was concerned about putting first names on the door because of the kids. You know how they say never have your kids have their names public, but I wasn't even thinking about last names. Now I don't know what to do!!!!!

Then what's my excuse..I didn't go to Grad school..lucky I made it out of regular college alive....:rotfl2:

Your excuse is that I went to grad school while working full time and having two kids... YOU picked up the pieces!!!! (Thanks, hun!)

I think my most distinct memory of grad school was the day before our cruise in '01 ... first NICE day NH had seen... the whole family was outside playing... and I was locked in the bedroom, chained to the computer, packed suitcases all around me, trying to finish and e-mail a research paper before cruising. Dr K. INSISTED that I NOT bring any schoolwork on the cruise with us...

Amanda - hope you and Nathan are feeling better today. What a scary feeling. Hysteria is pretty normal at that instance. You were very lucky that people came to help you. That was very nice. Give Nathan a big :grouphug: from us. You, too. Thank God it was what it was and not something worse. Like someone else said, I think the kids bounce back better and faster than us parents. Take a deep breath and relax now. He'll be fine.

My Contribution for Today

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again...

And we will see each other again (or first) soon......

Here's my contribution for Friday Kareoke:

When you’re down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
I’ll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You’ve got a friend.

If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I’ll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They’ll hurt you and desert you.
Well they’ll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don’t you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don’t you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you’ve got to do is call.
Lord, I’ll be there, yes I will.
You’ve got a friend.
You’ve got a friend.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.
You’ve got a friend.

Seems like whenever one of us is down, there's always someone with a kind word, hand or solution for your problem. Can't wait to meet you guys. The anticipation is killing me. TGIF It is Friday, right?

Here's a cute graphic that I came across. I'm sure someone could easily modify it to put on text.

Everybody needs to do what you feel is comfortable with the door signs. The signs have been a tradition on the DIS for a couple of years - and we've always done it. We've had our first names, our last names, etc..... But, if it worries you, then don't do it... and most definitely don't worry about it....

My feeling on the door signs: I would use last name without any worries. The reason I didn't use it on the sign Samantha was kind enough to make for me is because it isn't a "LeClair family" vacation since one daughter isn't coming and I didn't want any hurt feelings when the sign comes home. ;)

Fedex just stopped by: The bag & T-shirts are here!! :woohoo: Thanks, again, Pam & Maria for all your work getting that done for us.

Just curious. Those of us who ordered T-shirts: Are you washing the shirts prior to the cruise? "Wash" or "No Wash"????? ;)

Has anyone out there "NOT" recieved thier documents yet :confused3
I'm starting to wonder if they are coming. The UPS man pulled in my neighborhood yesterday behind me. But sadly he was just torturing me :furious:

I don't have ours either! My magic potion hasn't worked! :stir:

I'll be in Mobile again this weekend. We go there at least once a month for shopping since storm. My B/SIL live there, and it is our nephew's bday this weekend. My PILs are looking at possible moving there. They don't know exactly what area yet, but since they are living in my house, while large, it does have three young LOUD/ACTIVE children that live in it! I don't think that my DFIL will handle it for long!

Guess that means I'll be getting mine too.:woohoo: I'm sure I'll wash my tee.

Absolutely...everyone has to do what they feel comfortable with about the door signs. Just like parenting...everyone is different and what works for someone, may not work for someone else.

I think I may make one with our DIS names on it. Darn hubby doesn't want a DIS name. Phewy on him. No wonder he feels left out.

Guess I gotta keep a look out for my FEDEX man. He's in my neighborhood everyday. We keep him very busy.

I agree with Virgil on the door signs. Do what you feel comfortable with. It really is more of a DIS tradition than anything else. I think you will find that 80% or more of the doors on the cruise are not decorated. We love looking at the ones that are. In fact that is the one reason the navigator has both an alpha listing and a numeric one. On our last cruise someone suggested the numeric as a great way to find all the rooms on a certain deck without walking the entire deck. The deck plans on the back should help with this as well.

We are working on one with our DIS boards names...I am sure someone on this board can come up with a name for your "Darn Hubby" If he doesn't want to play along he might be sorry... How about Second Place Yankees :rotfl2:
