I posted this on the 10 night Christmas/holiday thread. Would appreciate your input also.

'I have been looking at WDW resort prices for our pre cruise stay. I think we are going with the value resort, $600 less for 3 nights and 2 day park hopper than the cabins in Ft Wilderness. Mom and I want to do dinner, CP and Illuminations one night and MVMCP another. Also I hope I can get reservations for the Hoop De Do so we won't be in our room (or cabin) much at all. Any really big plusses or minuses for the value resorts?'

Sue

Sue,

The biggest plus would be the cost :thumbsup2

Which Value did you have in mind? I think the Value rooms are perfectly adequate for 2 people. Room location might be the only "minus" but you can make sure that won't be a factor by booking a "preferred" room. :woohoo:

HI,
I'm on the double CC in June. Do you guys know the order for dinner? What nights are formal, pirates?
Thanks :Pinkbounc

Because he likes the mascot. Always a good reason to choose a school.....based on what their mascot is!! :)
...
He also rooted for Japan in the Olympics because he LOVES the dog "shiba inu" which originated in Japan!

Well, that's an interesting reason to choose a school. ;) I can't wait to hear how he chooses his major!

Ah... Shiba Inus... My brother used to show/handle them when he was a teenager. (He was a strange kid.) We didn't own them, but knew some breeders. Great dogs.

My parents have had Akitas since I was in high school. At first, two males (just about the only case anyone's heard of where two males could exist in a house together without killing eachother). Now a female (formerly a therpay dog, but now afraid of walking on polished surfaces and on Prozac) and a male that NOBODY goes near except my parents. That *&$#! dog has tried to take a chunk out of my face more than once. But my parents swear that when it's just them, he's the best dog they've ever had. Whatever floats your boat...

Mary,
Does mark have the cone design that you have in your signature with the wording in black around it???

Actually, I've been gathering all the graphics we've been using with the purpose to make a page of stuff to make doorsigns, etc with. Going to actually be home a good bit today, might have something together shortly.

Sue

I would recomend Pop Century. I enjoyed it and we were looking at staying there again this time around post cruise. It has it's own dedicated bus route to all the parks and DTD (at the time I was there in 2004 I think the other value resorts had to transfer)- which makes it very convienent. No transfering. The food court was good - plenty of choices. Plus a little deli area with pre-packaged salads, etc. Especially if you're enot going to be in your room much, value is the way to go.

All star sports tends to house the groups so, I'd stay away from it.

The rooms are very small - the door opened against one of the queen beds - we had a bike, bike case, and assorted triathlon paraphanalia so, it was a bit cramped - I was only in the room to sleep so, not really an issue. I was there in 2004 the weekend before Memorial Day - the bus lines were managable - almost always found a seat - a bit cramped for opening and closing but, not a big deal. The resort was busy but not noisy. We had a standard room - not a prefered - and we were still close to everything.

We've stayed at the cabins - they are very nice and especially handy to have a kitchen area to freeze water bottles and stash breakfast items. You do have to transfer at the Transportation center for the parks which makes it a bit of a pain. IMO, since you are looking at the special dinners - I wouldn't spend the extra $ to do a cabin - not utilizing the kitchen area much.

That'll be great! Thanks!!!

Guess I could do that too or use them on the expensive treadmill that I bought that takes up so much space in my room!!!

But, then, where would you put those shirts that you have hanging from it to dry??????? :lmao:

(fran makes mental note to iron those stupid shirts on her treadmill TODAY!)

Hey Fran -- did you get my PM about Kelly's shirt?

Yes, thanks! Did you get my PM in response?

Which is exactly why my DD doesn't have a cell phone that she is nagging for!!! :teeth:
DS informed me the other day that 'all the other 5th graders' had cell phones and when could he get one. Of course my reaction was predictible...
:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Sue -- we have stayed at ASSports, ASMusic and ASMovies. Movies is my favorite. love the decor around the main areas and the buildings are great. We have stayed in Fantasia and Toy Story buildings, which I now think are considered preferred. If I wasn't planning on being in our room much, definitely go value. We used to do value and moderate before we bought into DVC. Now we all complain if we don't have enough room.

All the mini door magnets (using Stacey's Team Scoopie design) are printed. Now they just have to be cut up and they will be ready to include with the buttons and navigators.

Now I just have to work on our personal door signs.

We've stayed at All Star Movies before and enjoyed it. Our only complaint with the values is that we are used to a King bed at home and the beds there are doubles I think. We've been spoiled by DVC.

I've always wanted to stay in the cabins at Fort Wilderness but again the main bed is a double.

We stayed at the All Stars one time. The rooms were fine, but going and getting some breakfast at the counter service place was a ZOO!! I had to adopt my "urban terrorist persona" in order to come back alive!!

No, that's the stationary bike in my house, not the treadmill...:thumbsup2

We've stayed at ASSports. It was OK except for the evening we did Hoop Dee Doo. We had to take a bus to DTD to get a bus back to ASSports because the parks had already closed for the evening. Maybe it was because it was our first time at Disney, and we had no idea what we were doing?
