Ok, a couple of comments about this post. #1...see...it's Greek to me b/c how can Lisa be #4 and not know if she made the cut when 102 get to go to regionals?????

Secondly...WHAT A KID.....she bounces, tumbles, flies, soars all day and she's tired "because of the long car ride home!!!!!!!!!!!!" WOW.

GREAT JOB, LISA!!!!!!!!

unexpected TOP shared with Little Gymnast!!!!

pixiedust: pdfg

She is going to Regionals without question. Every State gets to send a percentage of gymnasts based on it's State Qualifying Scores. Florida had approximately 250 gymnasts qualify (the most for any State in Region 8), so approximately 100 girls will go to Regionals. What Lisa was trying to qualify for was the Top 8 in the State who become the Team that represents Florida against 8 members from Georgia, 8 from South Carolina, etc (North Carolina, Tennesse, Alabama, Mississippi & Lousiana). Florida's team usually dominates the Regional Meet, so representing Florida is the toughest Team to qualify for. They announce the team tonight and so depending on if anyone beats her all around score today determines if she is on the "select" team or not.

OOPS - This was Scuba Mom. I forgot to change screen names again. (I know, I am old)

My friend sent me this and I thought it was well worth sharing:

This was the first I have heard of a scheme like this and want to pass it along. Something very serious to pay attention to. Criminals are coming up with craftier, less threatening methods of attack, so we have to be extra cautious. Read on.

I live in Alexandria, VA, but I often work in Lafayette, LA, staying with friends when I'm there. As you know from America's Most Wanted TV program, as well as the news media, there is a serial killer in the Lafayette area. I just want to let you know about an "incident" that happened to me a few weeks ago, and could have been deadly. At first I didn't go to the police or anyone with it because I didn't realize how serious this encounter was. But since I work in a jail and I told a few people about it, it wasn't long before I was paraded into Internal Affairs to tell them my story.

It was approximately 5:15 AM in Opelousas, La. I had stayed with a friend there and was on my way to work. I stopped at the Exxon/Blimpie Pie station to get gas. I got $10 gas and a Diet Coke. I took into the store two $5 bills and one $1 bill (just enough to get my stuff). As I pulled away from the store, a man approached my truck from the back side of the store (an unlit area). He was an "approachable-looking" man (clean cut, clean shaven, dressed well, etc.). He walked up to my window and knocked. Since I'm very paranoid and "always looking for the rapist or killer," I didn't open the window ... I just asked what he wanted.

He raised a $5 bill to my window and said, "You dropped this." Since I knew I had gone into the store with a certain amount of money, I knew I didn't drop it. When I told him it wasn't mine, he began hitting the window and door, screaming at me to open my door, and insisting that I had dropped the money! At that point, I just drove away as fast as I could.

After talking to the Internal Affairs Department and describing the man I saw, and the way he escalated from calm and polite to angry and volatile .... it was determined that I could have possibly encountered the serial killer myself. Up to this point, it had been unclear as to how he had gained access to his victims, since there has been no evidence of forced entry into victim's homes, cars, etc. And the fact that he has been attacking in the daytime, when women are less likely to have their guard up, means he is pretty BOLD.

So think about it...what gesture is nicer than returning money to someone that dropped it????? How many times would you have opened your window (or door) to get your money and say thank you ... because if the person is kind enough to return something to you, then he can't really be a threat ... can he????

Please be cautious! ! This might not have been the serial killer ... but anyone that gets that angry over someone not accepting money from them, can't have honorable intentions. The most important thing to note is that his reaction was NOT WHAT I EXPECTED! A total surprise! But what might have happened if I had opened my door? I shudder to think!
Forward this to everyone you know ... maybe they can be as fortunate as I was!

P.S. from the Sender: Ladies, really DO forward this to EVERYONE you know. Even if this man wasn't a serial killer, he looked nice, he seemed polite, he was apparently doing an act of kindness, but HE WAS NOT A NICE PERSON!!!

Matt update...he completed his creative board breaks. One was blindfolded. Pretty neat.

We just saw a bunch of Karate students last week at a mall and they were board breaking and one guy did it blindfolded. Really cool. Ouch!!!!

We were supposed to just get rain today, but since we are in what they call a "higher elevation" we got the snow instead. Which is great for us, it soaks into the ground much better than rain does...but it's almost all melted already. But the mountains all around us are covered with it, and very beautiful. Too hard to get a good shot of those, darn it.

Stacey - you take awesome pictures. I LOVE pictures of snow. And the cactus with the snow on it is beautiful. Are you serious??? You're kids never saw snow before? That is funny to a NY person. I had a cousin who moved out to Hawaii and got married and HER kids never saw snow until they went to Colorado to ski. It's just a foreign thought for me. :confused3

And, thanks for that post from your friend. It's right...who wouldn't open their window/door for money thought to be dropped. Something to think about.

I just added a few more pictures that I took of the mountains out back.

My camera is a Canon PowerShot Pro1. I love it. There are a lot of cameras that are much more sophisticated, but I had enough trouble learning how to use this one.
I would really love to take photography classes some day.

Now if I'm correct...we 1st time DCL cruisers can book our excursions, etc. this Sunday night at 3:00(really Monday morning)? Is this right? I need to get my ducks in a row and ready to book.

Has anyone booked the Dolphin excursion on Costa Maya? Is this available?

These are the excursions WE are interested in. If anyone has any info on them, please feel free to share. Or, if you have one of these booked, what time are you booked for? I have 2 boys = 10 & 6 years old.

Coz - Atlantis Submarine Expedition
Dolphin Discovery
Costa Maya - Catamaran Sail & Snorkel
CC - Castaway Ray's Stingray Adventure
Parasailing(DH & DS(10)
Seahorse Catamaran Snorkel Adventure

I read somewhere on these boards that DCL was only going to go to Coz for the double scoopers. That's us? Has anyone else heard about this?

Thanks.

Hey Maria!

I think you are correct about Sundaynight/Monday morning...however, it is strange that the 90 day mark was Saturday night/Sunday morning :confused3

Nope, the kids have never seen it. There have been a few times that there was snow near us, but by the time we drove to it, it had melted.
We can't get to our cabin when it's snowing, and I'm the only crazy fool who's gone to Nebraska in the winter. So this was a nice treat for them.

I asked Jordan if she wanted to go practice driving in it...."No Way!".....chicken.

Cool....COLD actually.....a T.O.P. with the SNOW!!!

My DH took our dog for a run and I thought I would jump on the boards for a couple of minutes to catch up - well an hour later I just caught up.

Go Lisa Go Lisa

Go Matt Go Matt

:tink: pdfg

Hope everyone is enjoying their saturday.

I am most interested in the catamarran and snorkeling and trying to decide whether we should go on Cozumel or Costa Maya? Have you heard anything about those or who the operator is?

I really enjoy the meet. Since diving was a bust I went to a local spa and had a massage. I love gymnastics!! :rotfl:

I hesitate to ask, but is there some reason you don't actually watch the meet? Do you make Lisa nervous?

I know, I know! It'll be OK......... :lmao:

I got one of "those" next weekend. My weekend to dive, "we" have a dance show!! At least it's at the Remodelers and Builders Showcase show. :rolleyes1

Which brings up an interesting question. When is my weekend to "dive"?

Notice he won't answer this for quite a while. That's because he's DIVING.

It's SNOWING! If it would stick to the ground, I'd take a picture, but so far, it melts as soon as it hits. :earseek:

Wow, we're having the same weather! Blowing yesterday, snowing today. Melting of course. Didn't realize we lived so close!

You can also see (not that you'd want to) a larger picture of Jim in his lime green thong.

Stacey, that is too funny! Did they pose for you or were they posing for someone else and you snapped a pic?

Great snow pics. We're 80 deg. here today. I'm loving it!
