Hello!

First time poster here--but DW, DS (12) and I will be making our fourth DC on the May 27 Alternative Western. Can't wait! It's a surprise birthday gift to our son (March 30), and we're about to bust keeping it a secret.

Cruiser wife and I were talking last night, saying "wouldn't it be nice if we met up with some other nice cruisers w kids" on this trip. This seems like the place to do it!

We're in Nashville, TN. Son's a baseball fanatic; wife loves Seinfeld, Palo and massages on Castaway Cay; I'm a drummer and magazine editor.

Looking forward to meeting all you fellow Cruisers!

NAP

:welcome: to the DIS NAP! If you want to meet fellow cruisers this is the place to do it! If you click on the 5/27 link in my signature below it will take you to the group web page. If you want to include information for you and your family just e-mail it to me at marygums@monorailgreen.info. Please put 5/27 in the subject line because I'm doing this for another cruise as well.

Oh no, not the refillable mug! My Beach Club one is in an honored place.

Stacey, answer to your earlier question. I was looking at GPS units the other day on Amazon, and decided that the Garmin 340 was the one to get. I read the reviews and everything, and it's only about $500. "Only" in comparison to some of the $1000 units.

Welcome to our new cruisers! Keep posting, we'll get you all straightened out eventually.
Don't want to share anymore??? :guilty: :sad2:

Just crossing the finish line is always good enough. With any race you are just racing against yourself which is what I like.

My time was 24:30. I'm trying to get it down 22.

Thanks Jim, yes my first goal is to cross the finish line. I have no idea how long it will take me but wanted to have some idea of what a really good time was:). I plan to take a baseline this afternoon on my treadmill. So a 5k is 3.2 miles?

Welcome NAP -- be sure and check our Mark and Mary's site. We are doing lots of fun stuff for this cruise. Mark and Mary have a form up on their website where you can order t-shirts and excursion bags. The deadline for ordering is April 7, (P.S. Everyone else, remember to get your order in)

5 kilometers = 3.10685596 miles

little known google search fact. in your google bar type any conversion you want...for example, I did "5 kilometers in miles" and it will come up with the conversion.

or you could type 36 feet in yards.

or whatever.....

i tried "score of 37 or higher at a gymnastics meet in banfi" but it just errored out. i wanted to see what the OFFICIAL conversion was to make sure mr. scuba was getting his fair share.

Cruise Related! I was gone when everyone was booking their excursions....who is doing the parasail at Castaway Cay? What day & time?
And....who's doing the Seahorse Snorkel?

The kids and I are parasailing (and I'm sure someone will be selling tickets to watch) on the 2nd CC day, Friday, at 1:30.

We are on the Seahorse snorkel on the first CC day at 1:15 and on the 2nd CC day at 9:15.

Anyway have those same times???

We also have the Banana Boats at noon on the first CC day, and the LAST Banana Boat ride of the day on the 2nd CC day....at 3:30. I love the last ride of the day, because they stay out longer. Wheeeeeee.

:fish: We are snorkeling at 1:15 on 1st CC day, and we're parasailing on the 2nd CC day at 10:30. :earseek:

What else do we need to plan? :confused3

3.11 miles.

If this is your first time, just finishing would be a good time. I could not even finish 1 mile when I started running.

My goal for my first 5K was 28 minutes.

OK, LOOKS LIKE MOVING TO ATL BACK ON!!so, those of you, help me with what you think are considered the better places to live and schools, etc!!! Help! :yay: :hourglass

My DH will work right around Crown Point Parkway, Atlanta area

Not sure where that road is, we are in Sandy Springs, north of Atlanta just off the 400N.

Should we do this as a family? My kids (9 and 11) don't like scary rides, but they do like most water rides. What do you think?

Welcome, Welcome! Woo hoo! more pre-teen boys - we have a DS11 and DD8. How the heck can ya'll keep it a secret? :rotfl2: There were/are plenty of secret keepers on this cruise...I lasted for about 2 minutes after the kids finished school before spilling the beans...

So, if we don't make it to Cozumel will we then be on the Alternative Alternative Western? :rotfl2:

Julia - don't listen to Karen (OM) she's trying to confuse you. There are 15 posts on a page. Once you have 15 the next one is a TOP!
