How Bruce & I met ... this is long.

He & I both worked at Stennis Space Center but for different companies. I didn't know where he worked or who he was but would see him driving on the interstate from the city that we lived in to Stennis. One day I wound up behind him on the interstate and wound up following him right to the apartment complex that I lived in!!! What a shock! Then a few weeks later, I was leaving to go to Mass & wound up behind him. He was going to Mass too but then saw that he was with a girl ... BUMMER! Not sure how much later it was but one day when I got home from work there were ambulances & police cars in front of our complex so I walked to see what was going on. His apartment was right near the accident. He had just gotten home from work and was outside as well. So, I introduced myself. I left to go to check the mail then back to my apartment. He walked with me to check his mail too and must have waited to see which apartment I went to. Later that night there was a knock on my door & it was him asking if I wanted to go out that night. I already had plans to go out with my cousin. We both wound up at the same bar and the rest is history. Well, it's a long off-again/on-again but there is a history. We married something like 7 years later.

Did I miss something? :rotfl2: I did sleep in a little this morning :rotfl2:

No I'm the one who slept in I guess.

We met in 1989, got married in 1990. Silly me! Thanks for the catch!

A top shared with Jeri who is on the ball this morning. Wish i could say the same. :)

He made it as far as the Port Orange Post Office... they wouldn't leave him at my door because he had postage due... my mother will pick him up there today when she is out...

Are you serious? How can that be?!! I went to the Post Office and printed the postage on the machine in the lobby. You have to weigh it & enter the zip where it's going to. It then spits out the mailing label with the postage on it.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stick you with paying postage.

Angie

Gotta run do a conf. call for work and then spend some time on the treadmill. Will check back later. Have a great day all!

Not a problem... (maybe he gained some weight along the way!!)

Great minds.....;)

What's the easiest way for me to share that with you guys? Do you have any idea how much 40 of those would weigh in a suitcase???

I KNEW you didn't meet at work....and I thought it was at a convention of some sort. Somehow, I was thinking Star Wars. Sorry. :guilty:
What program did you work it up in?

Can you convert the entire thing to a JPG file? If not, then they individual parts. Which fonts you used would be helpful too.

If we need to put the full size print up somewhere, I volunteer our website.

o.k. this is too good to let it slide as a typo :lmao: ....yep, that would bum me out too...

now, onto the "how we met" story my version:- Short version - A Dare between my best friend and I - this was in college, we were to call the guys we liked from h.s. on their birthdays. I did - she chickened out...(the guys birthdays were close together...)

long version

I had a crush on him in h.s.(I still have the diary to prove it)- we played in the trombone section in band and had a few classes together. Our freshman english teacher assigned a paper using the Time Magazine from the week of our birth - assuming unique articles - unbeknownst to her (and us - until we fought over the same issue) there were 3 girls with June 16 birthdays and John with a June 17 birthday. She threw an absolute fit after the papers were turned in - like we had any control over when we were born...

Fast forward to summer after freshman year in college - followed through on the bet - wished John a "Happy Birthday" - we went out the next weekend - putt-putt and then Six Flags Great America (with her sister and her boyfriend - also their first dates - they're now married) - He asked me out on the motorized cars...my answer "What took you so long - I've liked you since h.s."

His version - we met June 17, 1967 - almost slept together on our first meeting  we were born a day apart at the same hospital - but, weighing in at a mere 2lbs 10oz - I was nowhere near the regular nursery...

edited to add: after we were engaged, I went back to thank our English Teacher for that assignment.

I had to go edit that but it's too late ... you've already quoted me in RED. For the record .. he was WITH a girl ... I know for sure that he's not a girl ;) .

Thanks Stacey - for reworking Scoopie - we could add subtle touches for the theme - like the pirate hat - a bow tie for formal night, etc... Scoopie could even have magnetic clothes - to dress up with on the various nights... :lmao:

I'm gonna borrow your basic design for the girls' basketball team awards - we've been giving them ice cream certificates if they meet 10 rebounds or steals, shots, etc...so, now their end of season awards will have the original Scoopie playing basketball...

Ok, Stacey, I think Angie and Bruce have got your "neighbors" beat in the stalking arena. She follows him on the interstate. Follows him to church. Follows him to the scene of an accident....
Then Bruce starts stalking....to the mailbox. Shows up at her apartment that night. Follows her to the bar she went to that night.

Creepy. :lmao:

Angie, I'm in room 6048 this cruise :lmao:

HA HA HA HA. This took me awhile. I was JUST getting ready to post "LIAR, you aren't that old!" Then I realized what you meant!! :) I was born late 1967 and I KNEW you weren't 20 yrs older than me!

There was a kid I liked in grade school....his mom used to watch me when I was in preschool. He and I shared the same birthday and we DID sleep together in the same nursery. Same hospital, same nursery, and our birth times were very close. Hmmm...I never did confess that to Mike. ;)

Here's my kareoke contribution for today - better late than never...

In honor of New Orleans and Mardi Gras

When the Saints Go Marching In...

We are traveling in the footsteps
Of those who’ve gone before
But we’ll all be reunited (but if we stand reunited)
On a new and sunlit shore (then a new world is in store)

Oh when the saints go marching in
When the saints go marching in
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

And when the sun refuse (begins) to shine
And when the sun refuse (begins) to shine
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When the moon turns red with blood
When the moon turns red with blood
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

On that hallelujah day
On that hallelujah day
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

Oh when the trumpet sounds the call
Oh when the trumpet sounds the call
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

Some say this world of trouble
Is the only one we need
But I’m waiting for that morning
When the new world is revealed

When the revelation (revolution) comes
When the revelation (revolution) comes
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When the rich go out and work
When the rich go out and work
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When the air is pure and clean
When the air is pure and clean
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When we all have food to eat
When we all have food to eat
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

When our leaders learn to cry
When our leaders learn to cry
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in

It's in a JPG file now..... I think. Because I had to convert it to JPG to get it on Photobucket. How about a link to the Photobucket site? Will that help?
I'm up to my ears in the personal taxes right now....so let me know if the link is good enough, and if not, I'll work on Scoopie later. Not sure which of the programs I used on him, will look at that later, too. I'm thinking I just used Bradley Hand for the font.

Ok, so you want the "how Mike and I met" story? Sit down, it's long, but IMHO, worth it! :)

Freshman year in college we lived in the same dorm. He was one floor below me. We had a few classes together and we'd bump into each other. Ended up hanging out with him quite a bit along with several other people (one who turned out to be a freak, one who turned out to be a pedophile, one who turned out to be a nutty lunatic....I think I made out with the best of the lot) Anyway, we were nothing more than friends....I even found my old journal and it talks about our friendship and it says "Mike is a really nice guy. Decent looking but nothing special. Not someone I'd ever want to marry." ;) ;) Ah, young and stupid, I guess. Anyway....who remembers the name of the fraternity that we all created? Bonus points for anyone who does......

So sophomore year and junior year he is an RA in another dorm, he gets a girlfriend (very controlling) and my classes mostly become nursing classes so the only class we share is Statistics. Funny thing is my friends and I would see him and his girlfriend around campus and refer to them as "Barbie and Ken" or "a couple that should not reproduce." :lmao: In the meantime I'm busy sowing my wild oats. Or my tame ones, as the case may be. ;)

Senior year he moves into MY building and is on MY floor. His roomie (Bob) is the RA for my floor. His girlfriend dumped him for someone she met at acting camp. I'm not thrilled with my dating life...so we start hanging out a lot more. Going to study together, eating meals together. Walking from one side of campus to the other. Hanging in his room watching TV (his room is 100% bigger b/c he's sharing it with an RA) So one particularly nice evening I looked him in the eyes and said....

"Mike....I just want to say...."
"uh-huh?"
"....that I'm glad we've been hanging out together more...."
"uh-huh?"
"....and I have REALLY enjoyed being with you and rekindling our friendship...."
"uh-huh?"
"and....well....I just....um....umm.....am really....finding myself....."
"UH-HUH?"
"becoming more and more attracted .....um....to...."
"YES??????"
"to.....to....BOB!"
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Yes. I said that. And kept a straight face.
He should have ran then!

The dog got me back though. The night before graduation we rearranged the room, for old times sake, to how it was at the beginning of the year (not hard since dorm furniture is made out of FOAM.

And he basically said the same things to me.....but the ending was....

"and I want to spend the rest of my life...."

"YES?????????"

".....the rest of my life.....with BOB!"

ACK! I guess what goes around, comes around, eh?

yeah yeah, whatever. ;)

Stacey has people who live close to her (obviously NON-DISers) who cruised on the 10 day unbeknowst to her. Her son found out about it through a kid at school. Well, turns out this SAME family is crusing on the double scoop with us. A little too twilight zone if you ask me!

HA HA. I went back to re-read this and it struck me as funny that I'd tell ya'll so sit down. Other than Mary who treadmills while she DIS's, I don't know anyone else who does anything EXCEPT sit when they are on the DIS.

Maybe it would have been more powerful if I'd have said "Stand up, it's worth it!" :lmao:
