Hi everyone,

I'm very excited. DH just asked me what everyone is wearing on formal night. Who wears a Tux or suit? Which is the majority with you guys?

He just thinks I'm crazy cause I'm always on the DIS. He just walks by the computer and says, "Dising, I should've known". I told him that this is where to find me for the next 12 or so weeks. He should be happy I'm not one of the "fly by night" kinda travelers. Not saying that's bad, but I have to have SOME sort of plan.

Thanks guys.

John's wearing a suit...

Let's not blame the DWs...It's not our fault. I have to pack for myself and kids. Husbands are responsible for themselves!!!!

At our house the DH packs - (I have right of refusal :rotfl2: - I don't need 5 pairs of 4 inch heels )

We were on the WOnder last year and felt a little over dressed (tux/coctail dress). Is Formal Night on the Magic more dressy?

What type dress are the Ladies wearing? I also have a 14 yr old that acts as if I'm cutting off a limb...what about the girls? :confused3

I'm wearing a cocktail dress - Maggie will probably wear her Easter dress (If I can get her out of the lab) - I'll look for something that's suitable for both...

Mike (11) will wear an black dockers, an oxford and a tie- against all protests, if I can get him to surface out of the lab... (hoping to get a matching mickey tie for dad, too...Might have to wait until onboard...

Did you all see the post on the main board about castaway club members now getting a coupon book that has coupons for a free drink, free game of bingo (for any game except the final one) and other offers. Nice!

gosh no - goodie - I wonder if Hedgie, Bear and Scoopie can collect?

Hi all!

I'm back. We had a great time in MS & LA. The Mardi Gras parade was lots of fun but we were very cold. The weather was supposed to be nice but wound up being very cold, wet & windy. We still had fun anyway. We got to eat some crawfish and the girls even tried sucking the heads (and liked it). I know that's gross to many of you but makes their mom proud!

Guess I'll be trying to catch up the next few nights ... maybe I'll get around to it and maybe I won't.

KikiKaren ... Scoopie is scheduled to go to you next. When do you want him?

I just wanted to add ... please keep everyone in the gulf coast region in your prayers. I know many are tired of hearing about it and all of the whining & pointing of fingers that has gone on (me included sometimes). But until you're there & see it, it's hard to fathom. It helps that we know what things looked like before. As I was driving around on Fri. my heart was breaking. Even though some areas of New Orleans were less than desirable, it still broke my heart. Too drive at night through an entire "city" where SOME street lights are on but NO stop lights & no lights are on at ANY business or house is just sad & eerie. Then yesterday to see how much is just plain GONE from the MS gulf coast is heart-breaking too. And, when you know someone personally that has lost EVERYTHING and is caught up in the beaurocracy of trying to get on with their lives, just hurts.

Ok ... off my soap box.

Angie

Angie,

I think we should all watch Oprah this afternoon. It's going to be a real eye opener about the aftermath of Katrina. I plan to have tissues by my side. Lisa Ling and Anderson Cooper were on location for Oprah and I know this will be a powerful show, but hard to watch.

Did somebody say FREEEEE DRINKS - I'm ready!

Irene, I don't think we can post travel agent stuff here anymore. Can you even change after final payment is made?

Angie, good reminder that the gulf coast is a long way from being restored. I think we tend to forget about it after a while.

Yippee, I assume your 14 year old is a girl? Don't know about all of them, but the teen girls in our group sure enjoyed dressing up! They even had a "pageant" a couple of nights! The parents liked it, because we were able to get some good family portraits. Here is Alicia (13 at the time), and Jordan (14 at the time). Alicia is ours and Jordan is Stacey's. Sorry you can't see the whole dress:

If permissiable to post on DIS - to let me know the name of your travel agent. I am not pleased with mine and would like to place a call.
My travel agent is Diana!! :thumbsup2

HH,
My sister mentioned some sort of radiant barrier insulation (possibly chips?) and I thought I'd ask the expert (YOU!) about them....

start talkin' :)
:lmao:

This is a sample of the artwork. You can't see the detail on the cone, however the cone party will be darker because it will be filled with a dot pattern. The Cone will be on the front and the wording on the back. I think it looks pretty cool. What do you all think. She is still working on the order form and should have by tomorrow.

With Jim in a Tux, I will wear a long dress. Lisa (11) will wear the formal dress she has to wear to cotillion (might as well get some wear out of it)

Is that served with salsa???? :hyper:

Radiant barrier is basically a skin of reflective material the bounces the heat out or in depending on the situation.
Radiant barrier insulation is a reflective insulation system that offers a permanent way to reduce energy costs. Radiant barrier insulation systems reflect radiant heat energy instead of trying to absorb it. A pure aluminum radiant barrier reflective insulation is unaffected by humidity and will continue to perform at a consistent level no matter how humid it may be. A radiant barrier insulation system is a layer of foil facing an airspace and is installed in the envelope of a building.
Never heard of a "chip" barrier. The main problem you have with trying to insulate or add insulation in a retro application is the access. If you have a attic then a added depth of blown in will help. Areas with no access are harder (walls, floors with no access). You could add the reflective material to the underside of the roof decking to help with over heating, but it wouldn't do much for the cold issue.

Give me more info; Attic? Wall thickness/material? Windows?

Charley and Dale will be wearing black suits. Ashley already has a really nice long black/white formal to wear, and I don't know what I will wear yet. Need to start hitting the wedding stores, because I couldn't find anything I like at Dillards. If all else fails, I will wear the midnight blue formal I bought for last cruise.
