Hi everyone,

I'm very excited. DH just asked me what everyone is wearing on formal night. Who wears a Tux or suit? Which is the majority with you guys?

He just thinks I'm crazy cause I'm always on the DIS. He just walks by the computer and says, "Dising, I should've known". I told him that this is where to find me for the next 12 or so weeks. He should be happy I'm not one of the "fly by night" kinda travelers. Not saying that's bad, but I have to have SOME sort of plan.

Thanks guys.

Maria - we are dress to the hilt for formal night - Sam wears a tux and I have a (gasp) gown - that was a steal from David's Bridal clearance. And we dress for Palo's. And we dress for Pirate's night - not that you asked that.

Most of the Disers were dressed as well. And the children were wearing dressy Christmas outfits as it was late November, it seemed they were all treated to dressy new clothes. This year, if the children have dressy Easter outfits, that would seem to work very well. That's children, Tween and Teens - no clue.

Tux for me (I also own it...).... and maybe this time I won't forget the Mickey vest I bought for the 10 day and left it hanging in the closet (of course it was Frances' fault :teeth: :lmao: )

Sam hit a clearance sale at the men's shop and now has a neat vest to wear with the Tux.

No, it is not Santa's......

After the discount, and the coupon and the sale that day - I think thye paid him to take it..... :lmao:

We were on the WOnder last year and felt a little over dressed (tux/coctail dress). Is Formal Night on the Magic more dressy?

What type dress are the Ladies wearing? I also have a 14 yr old that acts as if I'm cutting off a limb...what about the girls? :confused3

I agree that less people dress up on te Wonder. The night were were slated to be in Lumierie's (our 4 day was actually on the Magic), it was Pirate night so we wore tropical outfits.....We dressed for Palo's night, but not "formal". And we ate so much that by the time of our 4th night, we could not fit into our original dressy Palo clothes. Honest, 'tis true. (Needless to say, we learned to pace ourselves in many ways for the 7 day.....our bar tab was much less as well)

On the Magic, we say quite a few dressed in Tux's at Palo's. Either they did not bring a suit, or like us, they could not get the full advantage of formal night because of high seas....ok like me...Sam was fine....

We did meet an embarressed gentleman in the ship sotre buying another shirt with a collar as he thought he was underdressed and too casual....Then we saw him in that shirt for 3 nights. :lmao:

I did not eat on formal night so I cannot give the dining room report.

However the ladies in line for photo's had dressy dresses, from full length - many of those, to cockail dresses, to the beaded ones you see at Holiday time (it was late November), to an office dress. Also saw pants suits.

I did not see the "jeans" equivilant for the ladies.

And the neatest - was a formal KILT worn by the man who sat next to us at the Golden Mickey's... He presented a trim and handsome figure. I could not tell if it was military, perhaps Sam can recall.

Good Morning All - BIL is still in the hospital. A consultation with an infectious (sp) disease specialist is scheduled today. He has lost about 20lbs, didn't have extra to start. My sister has found his 20 and more. Dr told sis it is not time to worry yet.

Sue

Nobody up this morning - West Coasters gone to bed. I see Jim has posted this morning, must be :coffee: time.

Today will be a full day at the office for me....must wear real clothes.....I was able to get by in jeans yesterday since so many places are closed, and I had no meetings.

See, I will wear jeans to the office, but not on the Magic on formal night.

I cannot believe that I have not completed dreaming about excursions for CC yet, and it is only days away.......Seahorse excursion will be on the list. Not sure about parasailing....I'd like the tandem combo, but there is a weight restriction on that one.....and if we wait until the second stop....well....... :hyper:

Good morning cruisers!

Happy Tuesday!

Stacey - nice to see you checking in. Enjoy your time at your parents.

As for formal night. Mark will be wearing a suit and I will most likely be in what I wore on the 10 day. A long black skirt with a couple of different tops.

The Magic is a little more formal than the Wonder.

So, anyone other than me dreaming about the Atlantic crossing on the Magic.......so tempting........once in a life-time experience.

NEVER would have crossed my mind before "big brother" died at 60.....

It is pricey (OK down right expensive) and will blow the vacation budget.

It is at Sea, so no shore excursions right?

We will be on the Magic for 14 days, so will we ever want to go back? Ladypoo - you had stops on the crossing didn't you?

It is at Sea, so you will not see anything but ocean....

And, I cannot get time off to visit the port for days when we land.

And you still have to fly back -

And, I had always dreamed of crossing on the QE II, or her sister ship.

And.....despite all that it is fun to dream..... :cloud9:

Which I did, last night....

The Magic crossed up through Europe into England....Did not matter that a few land masses were in the way, that is what dreams are all about...And it only took 7 days so we were able to visit relatives in England before we flew home.

Maybe should tell DCL :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: and they would let me pilot the ship :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Good Morning Mary - We did see long skirts as well on formal night - very chique (is that spelled write?)

Now now ladies - don't fight over the tops. Another will be along in a little while. :lmao:

Tux for DH and DS. Renting for both of them unless we can find a good deal on one for DH before the cruise. I just love to see them dressed up, but don't want to have to pack one. DS doesn't own a suit, and is growing too fast to invest in one.

This is Sandi. Forgot Larry was still logged in.

Maria,

My DH will be in a suit - not just any suit, mind you - a "stupid suit" (insert his bad attitude here!!! :rotfl2: ) He apparently doesn't like to dress up on vacation!

We'd heard that Penney's had a tux on sale for $99, but didn't see any when we went to the local one yesterday. We did get DS a pair of navy dress pants at Sears on clearance for $6. He needed something to wear to dinner. I'll have to see if I can find the website for the tuxes for DH and see about getting him one. I know we'd use it again because we are definitely cruising Alaska at some point. Any suggestions? I know I've seen one posted somewhere on the main boards.

We had 4 stops on our route back from California last year. 2 in Mexico, curacao and then CC. We are so ready to get back on the ship. We thought the Panama Canal cruise would be our once in a lifetime cruise, but we are thinking of the Magic crossing the Atlantic.

We will be wearing formal dresses. Got to get some usage from them. We never go anywhere that requires dressing up here, so on the ship they come with us.
Dominique will have her Easter dress and a few other frilly dresses. No men in our group, so we will have to just admire all ya'lls guys dressed to the nines.
