About now, I would gather....or perhaps not. Still, no fun when no Pirates pirate: lurking out there......oh well, I'll :stir: :stir:

And start to pack....See you when I return.....

Good morning cruisers!

Happy Tuesday!

If you haven't already seen it there is a message from WebmasterAlex on the server issue on all three cruise forums. They are working on it!

OK all you DCL Veterans... cruise question... as we haven't cruised DCL before...

All of the jeep/dune buggy/truck excursions say age 10 and up... is that a DCL thing, or, if we booked them privately, would we be able to get Christopher in (he'll be 9... and is a jeep/truck/dune buggy fanatic). Also, are any of them worth it?????

This is my second post to answer your question. The first one did not survive the "server busy".

We have done the jeep tour in Coz when Lisa was 9. We book an independent which we have done several times because of Lisa's age. In St. Martin she could not go on the 12 meter yacht race through Disney, but we booked it direct. No problem. Same with the jeep tour.

We found an English couple of ladies through cruisecritic that had rave reviews. They did a great job. They picked us up at the port. There were only 4 jeeps in our tour, compared to the 20 jeeps on cruise ship tours. Jeep rental is regulated by the state. The tour companies can not own jeeps for rentals, they all have to rent them from the same place. This means your jeep will be old and abused, but then everyone has one like it.

Our jeep broke down, but they got on the radio and pretty soon there was a replacement.

The jeeping is like going through Ocala, scrub oaks, sand, palmetto, etc. It goes along the ocean and we ended up on the beach for lunch and snorkle. It's not going through a rain forest and I don't know what it will be like since Wilma.

We had a great time and would do it again. Go to cruisecritic and search the coz board. You should find their names. I'll check around to see what we can find here.

Not sure if this wil help, but we had a similar age issue with our November cruise. She tried to book her daughter through Disney, and they would not waive the age requirement. Then she tried to book direct, but since the tour she selected was also serving Disney, she could not get her daughter on it, which meant the entire family could not go. Others had luck if they selected a tour not linked with Disney and one family contacted the tour first and was able to go.......??????????

The best is to not let the tour operator know you are on a cruise ship. When I tried to do 12 Metre, they found out.

I pushed it real hard and finally got 12 Metre to agree that if Disney would email them it was okay. I got DCL to email 12 Metre that it was okay for us to book direct.

We did and had a great time. The lessons learned: 1. Don't tell them you are on a cruise ship 2. DCL will help out if pushed hard enough.

Hidden Power Boats, an excursion we did in Coz in November, does not even book with Disney. If you want to go on their power boat tour you have to book direct.

Nine? He doesn't look nine!! I'd swear he was ten!! Yeah, that's the ticket....... :lmao:

As it is, he is the smallest 8-year old you've ever seen... he'll turn 9 on May 1. It's hard enough to get anyone to believe his TRUE age!!!!

Maybe if he'd eat something besides fish sticks and raw carrots, we'd get him to GROW a little!!!! How did we end up with such a picky eater?????

Thanks... and thanks for your persistence with the stupid server... I gave up after that one post last night... besides, 24 was on.

Still trying to figure out if we're just going to hang out at Chakanaab on our own or try to do a jeep tour. Even if its not a WHOLE lot to see, (like the Ocala Forest... been there, seen that)... I think its always more fun on vacation. The jeep one you mention sounds good- I'll look around for it.

Good morning all!

Figure I better get in one post this morning before I start getting "Server Busy" messages. I'll have to go read the webmasters post.

Hope everyone has a great Tues. At least our weather is supposed to be a little better here in GA.

OK guys - another chance to be a focus group for me. I just put up another sticky on board basics. Hopefully this will help all of us be better posters. Let me know what you think.

Kiki - do you know if we have to "book" Chakanaab beforehand, even if we're just going to the beach. Or do we just get a cab and go there on our own? Anybody out there know? I'm thinking about the Jeep tour also, but not sure with all the bumping around if DH's back could take it. Don't want to jar his back on vacation.

I haven't done it on my own - but, I do remember plenty of cabs both at the port and at Chankanaab to ferry passengers back and forth. I think it would be fairly simple just to hop a cab.

Don't think I'm liking 24 live - I spend 1/2 my time trying to remember names, details, etc...not to mention the constant..."mom, where's ____? I can't find_____? I need _______ for school tomorrow..." Getting tired of the same basic plot lines and character development. Guess that's what happens when you watch 4 seasons and now the 5th season in about 6 months...

Tell me about the series please. I was thinking of enrolling Mother in Netflix, but how do you "juggle" to make sure you get the series in order? Can you specify it? Thanks...

All the 24 season discs were in order and since the 1st disc showed "short wait" while the rest showed "now" - I just reordered my queue moving other movies to the #1 position until the first 24 disc in the series listed available. It probably sounds more complicated than it really is...

Mary, thanks for putting it all the details in one place. It does make it so much easier to find and reference!

Irene, I haven't had any trouble getting the TV series discs. Just put the one you want at the top of your queue, and put several other movies after that.

Just seems to me they should have a system to send out discs based on how long you have had a particular movie at the top of your queue. Right now I guess it's just luck.

When my sister and I were there in '03, we just hopped a cab- we split it with some others going the same way... it was around $10. Once you get there, there is a fee to get in the park (can't remember how much... $10? $15?...). Not sure if they take walk-ups for the dolphin experience thing, but I think they do. We won't be doing the dolphin thing... if I am going to pay for dolphins, it will be at Discovery Cove, not Cozumel.

And there were plenty of cabs lined up to take people back to the pier as well... definitely not a problem there.

I am leaving Arizona today and heading for a visit with the OhioMouse family.

It looks like it may rain here, so I'm leaving just in time. Besides, it's kind of boring here without any kids to play with. Except the hairy one, and he makes me nervous!
