Winter has arrived in Chicago! I nearly froze just putting gas in the car yesterday. Time to dig out the winter coats and gloves! brrrrrrrrr!

Oh goodie!! That makes my dinner of chips and dip and a Hershey's bar look better! (the rest of the family ate well)

Good morning all! Busy day for me today ... hopefully. Emily has a "show" and Thanksgiving lunch at school today. Then my office is having their Thanksgiving lunch so I'll be stopping by for that as well.

Hope all of you northerners stay warm today! We're down to almost freezing temps this a.m. but will warm up in to the upper 50s.

Monica, thanks for pointing out Kiki's Christmas countdown timer!!! NOT!!! I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet nor do I have any idea what to get anyone, including my kids! Guess I need to get things in gear soon. Think I'll send my parents to ToysRUs today to pick up their big book.

On the good side, Christmas shopping is done, with the exception of something for Mike and we've decided on his present already...

I got a couple of things for "Mike's bathroom" for him for Christmas. They came yesterday. I showed them to the kids and told them I got them for dad's bathroom, but never used the words "surprise" or "Christmas present."

Well, Mike called as I was prepping to leave for play rehearsal and he had to talk to KT about something. I handed her the phone and ran around the house getting things.

I get home and he asks me what's in the box in the kitchen that says "Mike, Stay Out!!" I told him I can't tell him, it's a Christmas present!!! He says "is it a moose toothbrush holder and a cup?" WHAT???? Here when he talked to KT on the phone, she was excited to tell him about it, and had NO idea it was for Christmas!

Oh well....I preordered the Nintendo DS Mario Bundle pack for him....maybe THAT will remain a surprise! That is, if I can get it!! I think it will be a hot commodity!

Chocolate is one of the 4 major food groups - sweet, salt, chocolate and caffeine...

A balanced meal is when I can handle the plate in one hand with out it tipping over...

Yes they most certainly do. Even on their private island. It's the only way they know if they have everyone onboard or not. Remember, people can check their kids into the club then go ashore without them - do you really want the ship to leave and split up families?

Why can't they use the KTTW card when you leave the ship? I went on a Carnival cruise last year and your picture and info is all within the card. When you exit the ship, you swipe your card and they can tell at any given who is NOT on the ship when the ship is ready to leave. When you come back onto the ship you swipe your card and they can tell from your picture on the card, to your actual face in front of them if the two correspond. So much easier in my book. But who am I to say?

Maria, it's not as horrible as all that.

They have a two step system that works just fine. When you get off the stairs/elevator to deck 1 there are people that check id's and direct traffic, you then give your kttw to another person that swipes you off the ship. In 7 cruises, it's always gone reasonably smooth.

That's been my experience as well. The only delay I have had was getting back on, sense then, they are doing the x-ray and security then.

If the ship leaves without you, the ship leaves without you... that's what every other cruise line says, and I couldn't agree more!!! If people know that the ship is going to wait for them, it lessens their sense of urgency to return on time!! I say, wear a watch!!

For the most part, that's absolutely true, even on DCL, they have left people behind.

But they will at least make an effort to get everyone onboard, and they will not split up families. A policy I totally approve of.

Maria, sounds like Carnival does it the same way that Princess did. The only part that made that go faster, was the passenger's not having to dig out their photo i.d. I liked that. When we come back from an excursion on DCL, as we approach the ship, I'm digging out i.d. for all four of us...(the pack mule)...it's a pain. So it was nice to just swipe the key card and go. Disney will probably do the same thing eventually.
What slows the line are the people who either don't know that they need their i.d. out, or who wait till they are at the front of the line to dig for it.
And, like Kevin said, on the way back onto the ship, they xray all the bags and packages. But I think that actually goes pretty quickly.

Oh, please say it isn't so about Chankanaab(??) We had to prepay the royal swim (over $600 for the four of us). It is refundable, just wondering at what point I would want to cancel to get a refund. I would rather spend that money and go the the Dolphin Discovery at Sea World in Atlanta if I knew that the area was destroyed in Cozumel. Mark please post more when you find anything out.

Forgot to say Happy Thursday everyone!

Busy weekend here. Ashley has a 3 day swim meet, Dale has to get his Science Fair project done. He and a group of friends are going to the symphony tomorrow night. I never could have imagined going to the symphony when I was in High School. They are such a good group of kids.
