Got to keep the beer cold. I might be able to live without AC as long as there was cold beer!!!!

Exactly! We are contractually obliged to maintain temperature standards, no matter what the weather is doing. Sure makes for a 'cool' place to be!!!

A TOP shared with Jim & a Cold One!!!!

We should be around. Let us know your dates and we might be able to meet you too.

Jim, I will definetly let you and KikiKaren know the dates. That would be a lot of fun. I kinda feel left out when all you guys get together. Makes me wish I lived closer to "the world".

Wahhoooo...I hear DH's car. Gotta go and finalize some dates. I don't waste any time. Carpe Diem.....Seize the day....

Hey Jim... got any good ideas for a not-too-far getaway weekend for New Year's Eve? We're trying to plan something... not sure where we want to go, but don't want to spend a ton of driving time. (Not WDW... this is a no kids weekend.) Might go to Tampa to see the Barenaked Ladies at the Forum for New Years Eve... unless something better comes up. Thinking of a B&B somewhere...

Anyone???

Gaylord Palms Resort? Do a little spa time, sit on the boat and have an umbrella drink, dinner at the Steak House. That's one idea for you.

Sharon and I like the Gaylord as a get away because we don't have to leave the hotel and it feels like we are some where special.

Ray doesn't want to go to Orlando.

I had a great time in Sarasota last week, but don't know that there's really anything going on for NYE there... besides, its ridiculously expensive.

That is exactly why we like Gaylord. Once we are on property we don't feel like we are in Orlando. We are in Key West sitting on the boat having a drink.

How about the Boca Resort in Ft. Lauderdale? Or one of the island up around Jacksonville?

Do people in Ft. Lauderdale even make it to midnight????? :rotfl2: I just think 'geriatric' crowd when I think Ft. Lauderdale....

No, not everyone has generators. Most generators will run the refrig and a few applicances, but not the A.C. In my mind that is the real issue. After last year many people, including Mike and Joan (our neighbors) got a whole house generator. It will run everything in the house, except the AC.

If I was going to get one, it would run the AC. I can live without my stove, but Sharon can not live with AC.

The other issue with generators is getting gas. If there is no power, there are no gas stations. Whole house generators run on gas.

Last year I saw a huge line at Lowes after a hurricane. I thought they were getting generators. No, they were waiting for gas cans to come in. They needed to get more gas as the generators burn through it pretty quick. People are now storing gas in their garages (50 gals), in case they need them after a hurricane.
We have a generator that will run our whole house. We've only had to use it twice since moving in, but it's very handy to have 'just in case'. We're dreading winter this year. It hasn't been really bad for several years. DH has bookmarked a site with a propane conversion kit for our gasoline generator. Since we have the 500 gal propane tank in the yard we could just tap into that. Well, I wouldn't tap into it, but DH has welded natural gas lines and fixes leaks all day long for a living. I'd trust him to do it. Won't store gasoline in the garage other than for the lawn tractor. On a sad note, DS found 2 of our chickens dead in the yard while waiting for the school bus this morning. One was the one he got from school 2 years ago; his pet. Three others are MIA. Must have had coyotes visit the hen house during the night. I just wish they would have taken the one annoying rooster and left me another laying hen!

I should move there, then. I don't even make it until midnight!:sunny:

Such sad news about all of the damage from Wilma, in Florida and in Cancun/Cozumel. I've been thinking of Irene and hoping all fared well with them. Can't wait to have you up and posting again, Irene!

I survived day 2 of my new job. I made sure that I was there 'on time' today, which means 15 minutes early. I wish they would have told me that I was working 7:45 - 5 instead of 8 - 5. I did forget how boring it was to just sit in front of a computer all day (and not be DISing); sore shoulders from the mouse and keyboard; no one to talk to; not even any background noise/radio...

Well, here I am being a blabbermouth tonight. And I usually just lurk. I don't know what got into me this evening. I even forgot to finish my Diet Dr. Pepper this morning, so haven't had caffeine today.:drinking1

Guess I'll go watch some more of the series until I fall asleep. I have to set the timer on the TV, otherwise it will be on all night.

I did think about staying around for a TOP, but there's probably some pirate: lurking...

but it can't hurt to stick around for a few more minutes and get set up for it...

Where did everyone go? I wish I had plans for WDW, too, Maria. But we don't have the time or $$ right now.

Our only trip to WDW was the week before Thanksgiving and we froze our hineys off! It was in the 30's, or at least it felt like it the first evening we were there :cold: . We're from Illinois and were cold!

TOP
and goodnight, everyone.

OK...that was was toooo easy. WE are all booked.

Flying down JetBlue Sat, Dec. 3rd
Returning Fri, Dec. 9th. The airfare went up $120 more to fly home on Saturday the 10th. We are staying at our timeshare, the Marriott Grande Vista in Orlando(love it there). Now all we have to do is get tickets for WDW. I think we'll only go 1 day there and maybe Universal one day. The kids love Nickelodeon. Hubby just wants to relax and enjoy. I told him that on Sunday we could take a ride to Cape Canaveral and see the Wonder. That would be cool.

I am SOOOO excited. I can't believe we're going to FL unexpectedly. This will take some "favors" if you get my drift? My wifely duties...:rolleyes1 It's worth it. :rotfl2:

So, Jim and Karen let me know what you guys want to do. I'm excited to meet you all.

OK, I have to go and digest all this info. Talk to you guys soon.

Sharon is doing the Doc Dance right now. We got our docs for our Radisson cruise over Thanksgiving. Of course we don't know where we are going since a stop was going to be in Cozumel, but that really does not matter.

I can dive pretty much anywhere.

Princess switched out Cozumel for Costa Maya.....this coming week, they are anchoring off Cozumel to drop off supplies, but who knows how long it will be before they actually dock. I have already pretty much figured that our Norwegian cruise in late December won't stop at Cozumel and Cancun.

Well, she's not nearly as pretty as you are, and probably isn't as graceful, either...but I thought she was kinda cute. You're welcome!
