The "Mother-in-Law" casket is the box that your new refridgerator came in. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And if she has shrunken (shrunk?shrank?shrinked?) with age, one of those styrofoam coolers on top of the display at 7-eleven...

Sometimes as we fast forward through the commercials we will see one that catches our eye and we'll rewind and watch it. The one the other night was these two old ppl dancing slow and it said "DIAL UP" on the screen. Then they started dancing a bit faster and it said "DSL"....then they started rocking away and it said (I think) "COMCAST" ;)

And have you seen the one with the farmer guy and the cow, making a milkshake? We have to watch that one, it's a killer.

That's one thing we haven't tried with our DVR, is starting to watch a show while it's still "taping". I know Tivo does that, you can watch it "live", and skip the commercials. Very cool. A DVR is more like an old fashioned VCR, except it records onto a hard drive, and the quality is just as good or better than live. The other possible advantage to Tivo, you don't have to worry about time changes, like daylight savings time. We have to reset the DVR, and usually forget.

Tivo owners, what about the weird times on ABC? For instance, Lost went 5 minutes over last week. If you set the Tivo with the recording code, would you get the whole show? We set our DVR by times and channels, though I think we can use the code.

Still, the Tivo advantages might not be worth that monthly fee!

TIVO just came out with an update for those issues. It will record until the end - and if you have something that should have started at 9 - it'll record the higher priority show. I don't have a Charter DVR - we have TIVO - and the friend who has the Charter DVR has both - and he likes the TIVO the best - more intuitive, etc... Many a day - I'll be working - realize that there is something on later I want to watch - and will schedule it via the net...

Do you have to DO anything to update Tivo? Or is it automatic with it's daily call in?

It'll do it with it's daily call in....

Do you have the TIVO on your net connection? It's the quickest and easiest way to connect....

You're asking ME? I dunno!!! There is a blinking, flashing blue light on a little device called "Linksys" on the top of our entertainment center. Either that is some sort of wireless connection or Mike is afraid of low-flying aircraft in our family room. :)

Virgil,
I never did get the TIVO to work. I hooked it all up, made the set up call and supposedly all that went well, but when it hangs up with the set up call, it turns off by itself. Then when I try to do something with it, it tries to do set up all over again???Ideas??

Angie,
I am sooo very glad to hear that you are getting up and about and healing well!
Stace,
Too gunny about the MIL casket! Love the new guy
Sue,
Good to see you!
Irene,
I am so glad that you and Sam had a marvelous time!
GunkaKaren,
I am glad the tickets were good. Was the missing man ever located?
KikiKaren,
Only a few short weeks til our kids know that we are cruising!
Diana,
How has Alicia's back been doing?
Kevin,
I miss joking around with you! I think the gnome is just happy tp see ya!

PS speaking of taking advantage of another DISers medical knowledge...Nate has had a runny nose for a few days and it has caused a sore under his little nose. I am trying to keep it dry with medicine and tissue, but the sore looks bad. I tried putting Neosporene on it, it seems like it made it worse...anything OTC that I can put on his sore to help it heal? Thanks guys!

Amanda - Glad to see you back!

Elizabeth's computer time has been severely limited... hence no e-mails to Taylor lately... after report cards come out, I might give her a reprieve... then again maybe not. (Though Santa is bringing them a new computer...)

I'll take that as a TOP!

Try and do the setup call again - and then leave it alone until tomorrow. Since it is so old - it probably has to download new stuff - and will normally do that in the middle of the night. It puts itself to sleep - and will wake up and call. See if that works.
