Sounds like these two need to spend the day quarantined together... don't want the germs spreading on the DIS board for Thanksgiving!!! Besides, that way, Ang wouldn't have to make that trip to the ped's office.

Hope everyone (you too, Ang) is feeling better soon!!

Hee hee. On our member cruise, a fellow DISer had a sick baby. She brought her up to our room and Mike did a quick physical including looking in her ears. Ears were fine, but if they were bad we were set up with 8 different kinds of antibiotics! (yes, we go prepared on vacation) Mom said it was about $150 just to WALK INTO the clinic b/c it was after hours. That was before a doctor even looked at her!! Turns out she had a virus (croup) and it was one of those annoying "wait and see's,"

Don't you think that would be a perfect Christmas present for Jay? Tivo? Or some other DVR?

I do need mine quartined! My big concern is that I don't want to pick anything up. I called the ped's office this a.m. We're going to take the "wait & see" approach since they are open both tomorrow & Fri. The nurse didn't want to expose her to anything else by bringing her in. I sort of agree.

Now all of you have got me thinking that I should get DH a DVR for Christmas. He's been wanting one but I've been putting him off. The last legitimate reason that I had was because they don't record in HD. We don't typically do Christmas presents but he's been such a great hubby & nurse since my surgery, that maybe he deserves a special treat this year. Besides, his b-day is in Jan. Wonder if Costco has anything worthwhile???

A T.O.P. shared with OHMinnie, Stacey, Jay and all of the other DIS techies out there!

He didn't mind. Actually, before we even got ON the ship a DISer wanted to know if we could check her son's rash if it needed to be checked. He had an appointment for it just before they left for the ship and the doc wanted it to be monitored.....Mike was on retainer for that, but the rash got better and there was no need.

Of course, Mike wouldn't want to be in his room all day seeing sick kids on the ship, but for close friend DISers, it's a nice thing to be able to do to help out. :)

I'd say go for it. Good point....he has gone above and beyond to nurse you back to health. :) (although not really....the whole "for better or worse, in sickness and in health" thing makes it mandatory) ;) :rotfl2:

We have one Tivo, and on the other TV we have a DVR that our cable company provided. Both have their pros and cons.

I refuse to watch TV any other way. The rule of thumb is that for every hour of a show, you can start it 20 minutes late. So, for example, we start watching Survivor at 8:20....then, by the time we're finishing it is right at 9:00 when the "real" survivor is ending. I feel like I am wasting precious time by watching commercials for Lipitor, Staples, and, yes, Budwieser ;)

Someone needs Tivo! You could have set it to tape Prison Break, gone to pick up Jordan as a couple, then come back and watched the show without commercials!!!!!!

And Stacey, then you could watch those shows you don't get to watch! If you get a DVR, you don't have to pay a monthly fee. That's what we have, and it works great!

That's one thing we haven't tried with our DVR, is starting to watch a show while it's still "taping". I know Tivo does that, you can watch it "live", and skip the commercials. Very cool. A DVR is more like an old fashioned VCR, except it records onto a hard drive, and the quality is just as good or better than live. The other possible advantage to Tivo, you don't have to worry about time changes, like daylight savings time. We have to reset the DVR, and usually forget.

Tivo owners, what about the weird times on ABC? For instance, Lost went 5 minutes over last week. If you set the Tivo with the recording code, would you get the whole show? We set our DVR by times and channels, though I think we can use the code.

Still, the Tivo advantages might not be worth that monthly fee!

I agree with you on the first two... and on the third... well, I'll stop what I'm doing when the "Anthem" commercial comes on... no matter how many times I've seen it- although it can never beat the 'debut' of it, on a movie-sized screen, with about 100,000 watt surround sound speakers and 1500 of us in a hotel ballroom... I LOVE :lovestruc that commercial...

(But then again, I don't own TIVO or a DVR, so its either watch the commercials, or channel surf). We did just buy a DVD-RW... so I suppose I could actually start recording some of the things that I am missing... hmm... maybe I wouldn't have to struggle to stay awake for all of Grey's Anatomy.)

Fruit from Florida!!!!!!!

Or a donation to the earthquake or hurricane victims, but that too might be misunderstood.

Good Luck...

(OK - not a guy, but I understand the difficulties of dealing with clients and while it might have been "bad form", would it be worse form now to stop?)

That's what I was thinking, too late to turn back now.....besides, it's actually getting to be a pretty good joke. Luckily, I really like him a lot, and I think he gets a kick out of watching me squirm!
So I figure if I give him the silver wine corks, and he says he doesn't drink wine....I just may tell him where he can put them! ;) (That's a joke)

TiVo would NOT be the gift for Jay! His joy in life is flipping through the channels during commercials. Even though he knows that all the channels do commercials at the same time. I couldn't deprive him of his joy in life........
And besides, I'd be the one to have to figure out how to work it. Brain overload.

He's getting a new flat screen, anyway.........

Did you know that you can get a casket at Costco.com and get overnight shipping???

Sometimes as we fast forward through the commercials we will see one that catches our eye and we'll rewind and watch it. The one the other night was these two old ppl dancing slow and it said "DIAL UP" on the screen. Then they started dancing a bit faster and it said "DSL"....then they started rocking away and it said (I think) "COMCAST" ;)

Well, typically, you usually need them within a couple of days.

"uh...we can't bury grandma yet.....we got super saver shipping and the casket won't be here for another 14 days!" ;)

Ok, I had to go to costco.com and look...
did a search for casket...

here's what you get:

Argos Cherry Casket $2,999
In God's Care Casket $1,299
The Continental Silver Casket $1,349
The Mother Casket $924

I wonder how cheap the "Mother-in-Law" Casket would be!!

After everything your mother does for you all your life!!!!!!!!!!!
