An update on my aunt with the brain tumor. Doctors decided last week to operate on the portion they can get to. Had the surgery set, and the equipment failed, so they are going to have to reschedule. Don't know when. They have my aunt on heavy pain medication. they have told the family that this form of cancer is incurable, but that this surgery may give her up to two years, after two years survival rate is less than 1%. We are all saying our prayers that all goes well, she gets the surgery soon, and hoping for a miracle.

Pam, more prayers heading your way.....remember, that's the same diagnosis that they gave to my friend's husband.

Irene, I wear short sox when I snorkel. It keeps the fins from rubbing, and it might keep your ankles from getting burned.

Our prayers are sent!! Let's hope for that 1%!! Maybe rescheduling was for a reason.....

Apply it liberally and often- and do not let the skin dry up at all.

If you are looking for something else good to soothe a bad sunburn and keep your skin from drying up, head to your local salon and pick up a product called Nioxin Scalp Therapy.

It is actually designed as a conditioner for thinning hair, but it is actually a scalp (which is skin) conditioner that helps the circulation on the surface of the skin, and is loaded with botanicals that restore and replentish your skin.

I used to be the brand manager for the line (in my past life)... I swear by it for sunburn, and don't go on vacation without it. Its also great to put on your feet and legs after a long day of too much walking (like at WDW). Very cooling and soothing.

Well, the wrapping is done. Except for the kids, have to do theirs when they aren't home.
I wasn't quite in the mood to do the Christmas cards and notes, I had a Grumpy day.
I took the girls to their fund raiser, and went to Target. As I was pulling out of my parking space, a lady whipped around the corner, and went around behind me....and honked! I couldn't believe her nerve. Speeding in the parking lot, going behind me when I was already out of my space.....so I drove down and pulled in next to her. I rolled my window down and told her that she had a lot of nerve, honking at me, when she was in the wrong.
Well.....she obviously didn't have a good morning in church (all dressed up, skirt, heels) because she blew a fuse. We exchanged a few words (not the four-letter kind) and she started walking away, still yelling at me. The last thing I managed to say to her was that I thought if her husband saw the way she drove, he'd take her car keys away from her. I was able to hold LISA back, she wanted to "key" her car.
Then I went to the post office to get the mail that I didn't go get yesterday, and there was a four page letter from Jay's sister. Not pretty, to say the least. It was four pages of lies. I will be so glad when we get their Dad's estate finalized and I don't have to hear from her, or the brother, ever again.
So it has taken me all day to get "un-crabby". I did lighten up as I wrapped. Had a little fun getting creative.
But I did learn two things.
1. No matter how "right" I think I am, don't try to prove it by confronting someone. Most people will not admit to being "wrong".
2. Let Jay open and read his sister's mail.

Mark this down on your calendars....it doesn't happen very often.....but....

We had dinner at home THREE nights in a row. And I cooked. And no one got sick.

:faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:

So tonight at dinner, Jay asked Amber if she was coming on this cruise with us. I think he has begun to wonder if she is going to move in. The girls already have a "plan" that when they are 17, they're going to move into our guesthouse. :sad2: They even know who gets which bedroom, and what color they are going to paint the walls.
Anyway......I guess I have to talk to the TA, to see how much it would cost to add her....but....the way teen girls are, what if we add her, and then they get in a tiff (like they all do eventually) and aren't even friends in May??
As it is, I think Jay was just kidding when he asked her...but the girls didn't take it that way. Now what?

Margaritas work pretty well.....

Actually, Margaritas work too well. Can you say relaxed?

Stacey, you live in the Wild Wild West. You don't confront people who are in the middle of road rage, they might have a gun! I get mad at Kevin for doing that with us in the vehicle, and it's always the guy on MY side.

We have our favorite sunburn/bug bite treatment too. It's a product called Cactus Juice Miracle Gel. Mail order only, though.

:guilty: I thought of that, later. I shouldn't have done it, no matter if it was another woman. Just made me so mad that she would honk at me, when I was there first.

Yeah, I know. It's hard to ignore idiots. Just keep telling yourself, "I'm going on a cruise soon...."

We did have fun at dinner, talking about this cruise, and all of our old and new friends....the ports...what we'll do at Castaway Cay, TWICE! Jared seemed interested in the stingray swim...Irene, was it worth it?

We'll definitely do the Seahorse Snorkel, if they are still offering it. Except Jordan said again "I'm not getting in the water". Darn those barracuda in Bonaire! I hope she snaps out of this soon, our whole Norwegian cruise (only 33 more days!) is snorkel, snorkel, snorkel. She's gonna get mighty bored sitting in a boat for four days. And on a ship for the other three.

I was getting pretty excited talking about THIS ONE tonight, though. I'm ready. I can't wait for us all to be together!!!

Everything is moderation!! A glass or even two isn't bad. It's when you combine all you mentioned above that it gets dicey!! :rolleyes1

Good Morning all - Back to work today (ugh).

Kevin, it wasn't the "glass or two with dinner but all the beers on the island before dinner.....

Speaking of Beer - KikiKaren - I am trying to see the new commercial SNOWBALL - but it won't play on my computer and I missed it on commerical TV - is there a trick to watching it?

Nice trip reports. :)

After the reports from The Food & Wine & Wine & Wine & Wine & Champagne & Wine & Wine & Wine & Wine and maybe some more Champagne festival ;) I thought you might at least know someone who knew what Bill W was. ;)

Sorry to hear about the sunburn. You have to get VERY overagressive about sun protection. Mary and my personal choice, and we didn't end up with much color even after 10 days on a cruise is from Coppertone it's called Coppertone Sport, comes in a blue tube, and it really is as waterproof as you can get. I think we had 45 or maybe 50?

Thanks and double thanks - I will try to Sport as well as more coverup - Look for me in the lagoon, I will be the black neoprene thingy - Sam has even found a hood.....one ear is pretty bad.

Wetsuits;
Bare Makes some nice ones , so does Henderson Dive Wear More expensive than Bare, but VERY stretchy and easy to get on!! I recommend the full suits. Both Alicia and I have a few different thickness. A full suit is much better at protection, either under or above water.

As far as the fins go; Sounds like you would be very fond of a split fin! Check out Scuba Pro site for some info The have different compositions, that are negative, neutral and positive buoyant for different body types. A softer fin that is great for folks prone to cramps.
Personally, I LOVE by Jetfins, but they are a stiffer. A great fin for helicopter turns and back up kicks though!! The split fins are very effective for the standard flutter kick, but watch out below you, they can kick up silt on the bottom if you're too close.

Regulators;

Scuba Pro (same link as fins) are terrific, as well as Apeks! I have both. Jim used Scuba Pro. If you buy the SP from a authorized dealer (LDS) and have them service every year, the parts are free! Atomic makes a very sweet breathing regulator too. What brands to the local shops carry?

KEVIN - THANKS - Sam will check this all out I am sure.

Oh. And I forgot.

For your discomfort now the best over the counter item is called Solarcaine Aloe Extra Burn Relief. Get the gel, NOT the spray. I know all about burns, unfortunately. I work with steam every day. Nothing works better, both in pain relief and speeding the healing. Apply it liberally and often- and do not let the skin dry up at all.

And again - thanks much.....The ship sold the Solarcaine gel, and that is what I have been using, prob. not frequently enough - expect for where the ankles, they are wrapped with second skin....

Hi everyone. I have been away for a few days. Ashley had an amazing swim meet and took time off in every event she swam in.
Great job - :cheer2:

We all loved Harry Potter. Some friends went on Friday and thought it was too scary.

Must put this one on the todo list...

Mark - thanks for posting the info on Cozumel. I will wait until after the first of the year before I decide on excursions for there. Thanks for any updates you may get.

Time to be serious about excursion planning now I am back.

Amanda - good to hear from you again

Ditto....

Thanks - yes, more coverup is needed - sunsreen too, but in the past I have found that not enough for the upper body. Do I feel dumb today.

OK - and how do you protect your ears, the Coppertone Sport stays on with the snorkel rubbing?
