Good morning all, sandi caleb and I went camping in our back yard last nite. We had a camp fire, good conversation, the price was right. But no banfi. We can't find it anywhere within 150 miles, so we have to order it on line. :sad1: And I even got a top to boot!

:wave2: Larry!

Today for me is car maintainance day. Oil change, check all fluids and then handwash to get all the road um.. stuff off.

Hadn't thought of either shrimp or crawfish, so much has been said about gas prices... - prices have stayed pretty steady on fresh shrimp right off the docks here...I think crawfish supply won't be too affected by the hurricane - or Texas supplies will fill in the gaps - so, much is farm raised and it's far enough out until the start of season, it'll be o.k.

I had an article the other day from Procter & Gamble saying that coffee supplies would take a hit since the plants are in New Orleans. I knew that local brands were processed & packaged there but didn't know Folgers was. Anyway, yesterday when I went to Super Wal-mart, the coffee shelves were virtually empty with a sign saying that they were temporarily out due to the hurricane. I may have to go make a run to Publix or Kroger to stock on New Orleans' Community Coffee before they run out.

I also wonder how sugar prices will be impacted. My parents have acres of sugar cane on their property. Most of it was hit pretty hard by the winds. There is little time for it to recover with harvesting beginning in Oct.

I'm enjoying a few minutes of peace & quiet - I should be doing housework!! Oh well!!! DH went run to his office. I asked him to take one of the girls. He said he would take Emily. I told him "good luck with that." Ashley is the one that likes to be on the go. I knew there was no way he could walk out of the house without her. So, off they all went.

We went to Mass this morning then to meet Emily's religious ed teacher. She's pretty excited because one of her best buddies from day care is in her class. They parted ways this year when they started elementary school.

Watched some football last night but knew that we had to get up early this morning. LSU had a bye this week. Saints don't play until tomorrow. We have a b-day party at Chuck E Cheese at 1:00 ... oh joy!

My sincerest condolences!!! :guilty: :rolleyes1

So glad we are beyond Chuck E Cheese days. Just have to start worrying about boys and driving now :scared1:

Question for all of you working moms .... what do you do when your child is invited to a birthday party during working hours? Emily got invited to a birthday party for a classmate next Fri. afternoon from 3:00-5:00. I don't get off of work until 4:00. By the time I gather the girls up from day care it's 4:30. She doesn't know about the party since the invitation came in the mail yesterday.

Angie - the major sugar cane mill in NO was hit hard.....I have not yet received a report as they have not beena ble to get back in and assess the damge. The good news is all but three of their employees were reported in late last week. They have a temp. barge to try to get the plant up and running, but the cane, took a huge hit.

Smithwicks's gone, Disboards read, spider solitair won....must go do more housework and get ready for dinner.

How can a turkey not have a neck....This one came only with a giant liver!!!!! nothing else....????? :rotfl2:

(Besides, the gift certs. from my realtor for Stonewood are burning a hole in my pocket...)

We will be glad to help you out here....no reason to get a hole in your pocket when we are here.

The kids both go to youth group on Sunday nights so Sharon and I have made Stonewoods our Sunday night date. We love it!

We've been to Dixie Crossroads. Had the rockshrimp. Always heard Andy talk about it so gave it a try. It was very good!! Good meal, all in all, although, to me, the meal didn't taste very homemade. More processed than I like. IMHO.

I agree..That is why we go to JBs. There is nothing processed about it. Yesterday we saw the staff outside husking the corn. That is pretty fresh!

They also have oyster beds and grow their own.

So when are we going to see pictures of these rockshrimp?

Matt had that fun yesterday with "his" Jeep. I figured what better time to get him started. He even got to check the fluids in the "pumpkins". I enjoyed watching him under the Jeep. It was not me.

Today we waxed it. It won't be long before I lose the Jeep and have to get another one.

Here is our JB's Fish Camp story:

It was a wonderful day.....I'll skip all the fluff and just show you the details.

JB's is in New Smyrna Beach, just outside the National Seashore. It is on the Intercoastal and takes forever to get there because it's a long way down A1A. That is part of the charm.

This really is a good picture of it. It's an old building that has "charm". They even have a Cuban refugee boat...

But the food is really good. Matt always get the "Turtle Mound" which includes crab, shrimps, oysters, and other stuff.

Of course it does not have a chance against Matt:

But the real reason I go is for the Rockshimp:

1680692shrimp.jpg

They have a hard shell like a crab and the texture of meat like a lobster tail and they taste like lobster.

The place is nothing fancy:

And there is always the opportunity to go and look for manatees after dinner on the intercoastal.

Over all, it is just a fun place to go that is really out of the way. If anyone wants to stop by Port Orange/Daytona Beach we will be glad to show them the way!

Jim,

Those pictures look sooo cool. Looks like you all had a really fun day.
