I am SOOOOOO looking forward to meeting the Sunday crowd... between Ray losing one of his best friends last Monday, Matt's accident on Tuesday, and watching in horror as the Gulf states try to cope this week, I am in desparate need of a diversion before I go off the deep end.

Thankfully, things are progressing on schedule with the house (which now seems so incredibly trivial). If they weren't, I think I'd be headed for the funny farm right about now.

I think that is right! Heard about a guy and his family who lives in the heart of New Orleans and they were headed to WDW for awhile. Couldn't go home, might as well see Mickey! I thought that was a great attitude. Granted, not all the folks displaced can or would do that, but it shows that life goes on.
We can offer prayers and help where we can, but don't feel guilty! Our country is strong and we (as a country) will get through this. Enjoy your diversions and enjoy life!!

I haven't been posting, as I don't have much to say. I've been watching in horror as things seem to worsen on the gulf coast. My continued prayers to everyone affected. Mary, Mark and Bear, have a great trip and a WONDERful cruise. To everyone else traveling to WDW this weekend, may your trip be a safe one.

Wish I was coming this weekend. My kids start school on Tuesday, so it would be a little crazy, but if I had planned it better, NAH...it wouldn't have happened anyway. Who am I kidding? Just jealous that I can't make it. We just live toooo far away from WDW for weekend trips.

Everyone have a safe trip there and I will be waiting for pictures and reports.

TTFN,
Maria

Angie, glad to hear some good news. Is everyone accounted for now?

It's hard to look at the paper, or the news. So is the Red Cross the best place to make a donation? They will be the first ones there, I think. They're evacuating all of New Orleans! Where will everyone go?

Not to make light of a horrible situation (but a little comic relief helps sometimes)...

I don't think that Scoopie will be visiting New Orleans with me in March... I'll keep you posted as to where our adventures will take him during that time.

On a related note, this was in my inbox this morning...

Released by Communications:
Anheuser-Busch Increases Water Donations to 825,000 Cans to Aid Hurricane Katrina Victims
ST. LOUIS – In response to requests from relief agencies following the tremendous damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, Anheuser-Busch and its wholesalers have now shipped more than 825,000 cans of safe drinking water to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Separately, the Anheuser-Busch Foundation announced today that it is donating $250,000 to Red Cross relief efforts along the Gulf Coast. “Our sympathy goes out to all victims of Hurricane Katrina, and this donation will help those who have been most affected by the storm,” said Patrick Stokes, president and chief executive officer of Anheuser-Busch Companies. “Anheuser-Busch and its wholesalers are always among the first to lend a hand to help those in need get back on their feet.”
I guess this is a prime example of "water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink." I'm sure that efforts will increase as the days go on, too.

Heard on the news that municipal buildings, churches and business from NO to Texas were taking people in needing shelter. They are busing people into Houston to stay at the Astro Dome.

I guess Scoopie won't be making a trip for Mardi Gras either - unless some miracle happens!

Karen, thanks to your company for the donations!

Post on occasion so we know you are ok.....it is always good to hear from our fellow cruisers....

Looks like I may have a cleaning "fairy" at my house. BIL's wife loves to clean -especially when stressed. DH says she's chomping at the bit to clean. Hmm ... does that mean I don't have a clean house???? :scratchin

I don't send her my way!!!!! Strange - before last year's storms I was cleaning up non-stop....After the storms, when cleaning was needed, I could have cared less......

I heard some idiot on the radio this morning saying that the building materials companies, home improvement stores, etc are 'loving this'... I wanted to smack that guy in the head... THEY ARE NOT!! They are all doing what they can to help as well... yes, down the road, it may mean a temporary (well, long-term in this case) increase in business, however, I'm sure they would rather have flat sales and a country thats still in one piece as opposed to a spike in sales based entirely on other people's hardships.

We saw a sales increase during last year's 3 hurricanes due to the incredible number of relief workers/ power companies/tree service/debris haulers in the area, however, we certainly didn't celebrate the fact! Our company owner had more damage to his property than any of us.

Maybe she's got a lot of pent-up nervous energy. If she wants to clean, let her clean... or send her to my house.

Karen - that is great that your company is doing all that. Just saw a note from our HR person that we're having a meeting tomorrow to talk about fund raising. We are a small company (less than 100 people) but try and do fund raising for these type of things. Only problem is I won't be here. I'll be on my way to Florida.

Ang....glad your relatives made it there safely! Continued prayer and good wishes for the rest of them......

I'm so sorry to be missing the trip this weekend!! What a fun DIS meet you all will have!
Take lots of pictures.....and on the cruise, too, Mary....keep your camera handy in case anyone falls overboard. ;)

Ohminnie....I was talking to a lady in the airport last week who was on her way to Oregon from Ohio. I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of your town. I kept telling her that it was another "place name"....but it escaped me. I hate when that happens.

Off and running now...at least I got a lot of things done this morning.

I forgot.....look at this cute vase that Hallmark Flowers has for sale:
