So is that our invitation or is it in the mail??? :rotfl2:

We are 'late' in setting the date this year... still trying to figure out which of two weekends it will be... the 'invite' usually takes the form of a T'was the Night Before Christmas-esque' poem... unless writers block suddenly overtakes me... but I don't think I've ever been at a loss for words in my entire life... :rotfl2: . I'll have to post it here...

Kevin...those are AWESOME pictures. Thanks for sharing them with us. Really, really beautiful fish. The eels are what get me. Have you know ever known anyone who has been bitten by one of those things? They are pre-historic looking, if you as me. I'm with Sandi, I don't think I could handle that, no matter what the reason. I'd be soooo afraid something was going to bite me. Have you ever come across a shark??? Dare I ask the question? Thanks again for sharing. The ship looks very mysterious. What kind of ship was it to start off with? Fishing boat, frieghtor?

The eels are interesting. When you watch them underwater, the "breathe" by opening and closing their mouths, and can look rather ominous! There has been stories about people getting bit, but those have been idiots feeding them. The have rather bad eye sight and hunt with their sense of smell.

Sharks are VERY cool! Sleek and beautiful! If you see them diving it's only briefly since they don't like the sound of the regulators and bubbles from our breathing. I've seen several, but not as many as I would like......

The ship is the Spiegel Grove, a 510' long US landing ship dock (LSD 32) that was stripped/cleaned and sunk intentionally as a reef! It was originally sunk and settled on its starboard side at 130' to the sand. After hurricane Dennis and some heavy currents it's now upright!! Very cool. Here is a link if your interested. The currents can be pretty strong out there. The day we dove the wreck they were fairly strong, but manageable. Hanging on the mooring lines coming up, you could see the line vibrating with the current.

Good morning everyone. I'm up early today because the tapers are coming. The sheetrock is, for the most part, all done. They ran out of rock and only have about 1 hour left of that. Today starts the "taping". Very exciting. I will take some pictures, but I don't know if it will be able to help you out as to what it looks like. The sun is coming out today(no sun yesterday) so the pictures may be better. I will let you know for sure. That's what's happening in my little corner of the world.

Everyone have a great day. It's happy "hump" day. Wednesday, people, Wednesday.

Chow for now....

Maria
How exciting! Have you noticed a change in the perceived size of the space? I always marvel at the change during the different phases of construction. :earseek:

Sounds like you are getting there. Let me know when you are ready to do a shore or boat dive. Matt will be glad to drive me down for a mini meet in Ft. Lauderdale (Kevin, eat your heart out!).

Great - We'd love it.....I'll check and see how our schedule looks like before our November trip....we need to squeeze it in between Food and Wine in Disney (life is wonderful)....how is Sept. 24th as a potential???? Need to check with DH. We can talk more at our Sept. meet at WDW....

Wheeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (a bit nervous I have to admit), but Wheeeeeeeeeeeee

Have you been in the water with this new mask? Different masks fit people differently and I would hate for you to spend the money on a prescription lenses and have the mask not fit you right underwater!! Don't forget to clean the mask with basic white toothpaste a couple of times prior to using it in the water.

Hints: Read the classroom stuff and be prepared to answer and go over all the info. In the water; take your time and ask questions if you have any.

You'll be fine!!

Thanks - yes, hit the pool with the mask for some laps before I took it to the eye doc......The instructor also said 6 cleanings of mask with mask cleaner, but I prefer toothpaste before we jump into the ocean.

Classroom stuff - is this posted on a website???? I could look, but you know, lazy - depend on friends ----????? Thanks.....

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

We didn't have a leak either... just some shingles that came loose and went to visit the neighbors' yards after Charley (or was it Frances or Jeanne??:confused3 ). We fixed them ourselves, and didn't think anything of them til the *observant* (there... that was a nice word) buyers wanted them replaced by a licensed roofer. Thankfully, our neighbor (and lawn guy) also is a licensed roofing contractor... if not, we'd be waiting for months. The buyers have driven by at least 100 times (no lie... they are starting to scare Elizabeth when she's home alone after school) since the inspection last week to see if the repairs were done yet... despite the afternoon thunderstorms everyday last week... they couldn't understand why we were 'dragging our feet'... (hello... these are the same people who we had to BEAT a closing date out of)... sorry... I said I wouldn't vent here... but I feel better now!

Venting is fine.....I have a few choice words for the buyers as well as a few "do it yourselves after you buy the house" comments.....but .......I will refrain or the Moderators will come git me. :earseek:

I'm thinking about coming down in the first part of December for a long weekend of diving. Maybe WPB or Ft. Lauderdale, what do you think?

Let us know the date - I just checked out candlelight which we do the first part of December but have not yet made ressies.....But that might be 2 dives for Matt and Jim?????

Not sure which agency your taking the refresher from, but with SSI they have a small booklet and a video to watch prior to class. Then there is some academics that is gone over with all the basic stuff you learned in OW class and then the pool for the practical skill review.

Have fun!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

And a TOP pirate: shared with Irene, scuba diving and toothpaste!! :earseek:

I have been meaning to post this quote from this past Sunday's Church Bulletin:

Gratitude

O Thou who has given us so much, mercifully grant us one thing more -- a grateful heart. ........George Herbert.

I know this is going to sound funny...but the rooms look BIGGER WITH the sheetrock than without. I know, it shouldn't be that way, but maybe cause there's nothing in those rooms yet. Start to fill them with cabinets and furniture and talk to me later. The walls are all white right now, too. I think I'm going to go with a kinda yellow/gold color for the kitchen/family room. It's an "L" shape, all open design. The family room is 10 x 15 with only 3 walls.

I could see the light at the end of the tunnel now. Someday soon I will get my kitchen out of the garage. Yaaahhooo....

Maria,

We will stay at the Radisson at the Port the night before the cruise. On Thursday, the day we are flying in, we are in a studio at the Beach Club Villas, then we can hang out by the pool on Friday before heading to Canaveral.

Pam

OK - I e-mailed Ron Jon to see what the rates are for the day(s) before the cruise....It will be my BD so I get an extra day to party - yes??? (Well, I should)

We will be going to WDW either the Thursday or Friday before our cruise. Anyone interested in a mini-meet then?

Maria

Here everyone is planning where to stay the night before the cruise & we're not even close to that! Emily won't get out of school until May 26. I guess it won't be a full day and even if it is she gets out at 2:20. Worst case scenario, we'll be driving to Valdosta or Jacksonville that night. DH & I will have to decide if we want to take more time off of work for that Fri. If we do, I guess we'd drive down and stay with my sister in Lake Mary the night before the cruise. I'd feel guilty if we were right there & the kids didn't have a chance to see their cousins. After the cruise we'll have to make the mad rush back home. If the dance schedule follows the past 2 years, then the girls' dance recital will be the Sun. that we get home.

We'll be staying in the area, but not sure if we're going to spend any days at WDW. We're not sure that it's worth the $$$ for us, :duck: especially since we want to see Cirque du Soleil one of those nights. We're thinking of going to Sea World one day, but the other 2 days are unplanned right now (I can't believe I just said that!). I'm not sure that we could choose just one park to visit, either. I found a thread somewhere on all the things you could do without spending a lot of money (we call it being frugal). We'll probably need that extra $$$ to spend on gas driving down and back!

Where is everyone? I thought there would be lots of fluff to get to page 900.

I know. I'll walk away from the computer for awhile, and someone will come and pirate: the top of page 900.
