Well lets see... last time we spoke to them about names, they had it narrowed down to the following choices (keep in mind, at the time they didn't know what they were having)...

Girl: Ava (that one's OK) OR..... OLIVE (um... no comment)

Boy: Bronson (not awful, but not what I'd name a baby) OR... AUGUSTUS (um... thankfully, its not a boy.)

And their first is Calvin... which isn't what you'd consider a 'normal' name...

Well......okay....it's not APPLE or MOONBEAM......be thankful that kids nowadays don't remember Olive Oyl.......
Calvin and Olive....hmmmm......I hope they go with Ava.

Not that anyone takes my advice on baby names. My niece Lindsey has two little girls....I begged her to think of something else.....they are:

Alejandra Ana-Michelle and Angelina Jasmine

Alex & AJ ....... I told Lindsey I wasn't going to call #2 AJ....I'll call her Angel...or "Hey You".

Hopefully our friends don't read this board ... pretty sure they don't. Their 1st son's name is Drayton. That has grown on us, I guess. I can't remember his middle name. The 2nd one is Malone Oxford. Poor child doesn't even have a normal middle name to fall back on.

Hope no one knows anyone with those names...

Angie

congrats on the new family member!

when my friend's daughter was pregnant with the first grandchild Kelsey was the family favorite. Then the proud papa decided Kelsey was too masculine for his little darlin'. Samantha is her name and everyone calls her SAM!

Kikipug,

Do y'all call your daughter Elizabeth or does she have a nickname? Both DH and I liked that for Ashley but DH doesn't like nicknames. And with a name like Elizabeth, the nicknames are endless ... Liz, Liza, Beth, Betsy, etc. So, Ashley is Ashley Elizabeth instead.

Angie

Greetings all - we are home! Well home at the Boardwalk :)

DCL did an amazing job of organization and the disembarkation was painless. Arriving by bus in Port Canaveral it was easy to see why they left the ship down south.

So we are safe and sound. Thanks for thinking of us. Jim - special thanks for giving us your cell phone number in case we needed it!

She is Elizabeth. Occasionally, my Mom and I call her "Lizzie", but its just a pet name for her... no one else is allowed to call her that. My great grandmother was Elizabeth, and always went by her full name... for 99 years.

On the topic of 'unusual' names, a former coworker of mine named her sons Garrison and Dorsey... not a family names, not a special names... she just wanted to be different. I grew to like the name Garrison, but Dorsey just isn't a name that I would willingly call a human. (And her dog had a 'people' name... go figure.)

I have had people sign three new contracts for work this week!! We have projects in the schedule that will last into Christmas time.

I love my wife and family

and (DW will love this one)

I'm in town this weekend!! :earseek:

How's that??

That's very nice, hon. But it doesn't help with the zig-zagging across town I'll be doing tonight. While you're at scuba class.

I think Ava is a pretty name. Makes me think of Ava Gardner. I think Reese Witherspoon named her daughter Ava, so it's probably popular again.

What do you think? They are forecasting even more rain. Kids go to Night of Rain, sorry Joy tomorrow night.

They will be taking their rain gear. Lisa is going to meet up with KT tomorrow night.

Just saw that Ophelia has been upgraded to a Cat 1 hurricane. Stay safe everyone.

Thanks... the good news for now is that it looks to be heading ENE... which means that it will move away from us... they are saying that it may loop around and come back next week again, but I'll just take one day's forecast at a time... I just want to MOVE this weekend!! (Yeah, I'm being selfish...)

One of DD's good friends has a little boy named Calvin. She is a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan, so I guess it shouldn't have been a big surprise.

Hi everyone! We are home! We got in late Tues but I had to work Weds and Today, and I will be working thru Sat, so I wont be able to post much until Sunday. Looks like yall have had lots of fun while I was away! I have not read the posts, there are too many. I enjoyed the meets. I was able to meet Irene and Sam, and MAry and Mark on Sat. Then just when I was about to give up hope on Patty, she showed up! So it is tru, 3rd time is the charm! I am quite shocled that my kids behavior, however, did not scare Irene and Sam out of this cruise. I was very embarrased by them. So, MAry, Mark, Irene and Sam I am sorry for the way my children behaved. I will know better in the future to attend any DIS stuff where they will be the only kids in attendance. After that embarrassing show, I had plans with KIKIKAren to get the girls together afther their meet on Sunday. I got the call from KIKI that said they were in France and headed my way in Canada. ANd when she said they, she really meant they.....Karen and Ray and kids, Sharon and Jim and kids, Irene and Sam, Fran and Dave and their DD. I was kinda unprepared for that, but it sure was nice to "see" everyone. They all took my kids on Soarin, and I fed Nate some lunch becasue he could not ride (he is only 2)......again my kids embarrassed me...I understand they were little hoodlums in the line for Soarin...Fran, KAren and Sharon I am sorry....do we notice a theme here?? LOL

I just talked to her. She is starting to note a theme when she comes to Florida. Rain gear is her clothing of choice!
