The coolers operate on a thermostat, just like the air conditioning. It actually makes the house much cooler than the A/C....until we hit our "monsoon" season and the humidity goes up. We do have central A/C also, but not everyone does.
Oh okay...next question...why in the world is it called a swamp cooler??!?

Oh Tag Fairy.... nevermind... TF doesn't lurk here... too much fluff

(Actually, I have promotional T-shirts at work that say that on them... need one?)

Sandi, you still don't drink coffee? I thought that was a required course in college!
Diet Dr. Pepper is my caffeine of choice for breakfast. I even took my own 12-pack on our cruise last year and will again next year.

DH just called. MIL is out of surgery and doing well. Thanks for all of your prayers.

I just looked online... they changed the wording on them... they say- "GO LONGER" on the back... and on the front, some say "You can go home early when you're married.", and the others "You can sleep when you're 30."... they're for the new caffeineated product that we sell, and are obviously geared to the 21-28 year old "Contemporary Adults"...

Oh am I glad to hear that Stacey! We did Catamaren sail and snorkel last year and we enjoyed ourselves. We wanted to try something different this year, and this looked to be the best option. So there is snorkeling there? Do we have to bring our own sets or will they provide them? I didn't think so, but from your post it sounds like food was included in the price? Do you have pics from your time there??

They have snorkel gear to use there, on the island. It's really a nice island...a little lighthouse at the tip of it..... and yes, the food was (at that time, anyway) included. The bar (and sadly, the Pepsi) was cash. But by then, I would have paid $10 for a Pepsi...we'd been at WDW for a week before the cruise....
The pictures that I have (somewhere).....I'm not sure if they were digital or not. I'd have to check in My Pictures to see.....if so, I can e-mail you a few...PM me your e-mail address.

I have NO idea why it is called a SWAMP cooler. I prefer to call it an evaporavtive cooler......LOL

Now I will probably start to be really chatty here. I just can't be online when my parents are here, and we have been in and out of town....and still will be. Wait till school starts...you poor people won't be able to get rid of me!!:Pinkbounc

Mary,

"Your" thread on the main board has been interesting to follow. I'm glad you cared enough to ask the questions!!!

:cheer2: someone discovered the meet boards :cheer2:

Has it answered any of your original questions?

I think it added more of my own (At times my marketing research/customer service background sneaks back to the surface....)- How can we help someone feel more welcome and/or not excluded when people join at different times? Is there more expected beyond what you and many others post as welcome to the board? Is there an expectation of reading the entire thread like the main board discussions? What would encourage a lurker or dissatisfied poster to join in? If someone is dissastisfied with the daily life "fluff" What should the function of a meet board be that would be differentiate it from a main board thread?

If anyone else is following the topic on the main board, is there any other thoughts?

Thanks Monica - I saw that and was really happy to see it helped someone.

I think it has answered my original question especially since Disney Fans is one of the people I saw on the main board that wasn't posting here.

To answer your questions.

How can we help someone feel more welcome and/or not excluded when people join at different times? I think we already do a pretty good job of welcoming new people. Whether or not they want to say around after that is up to them.

Is there more expected beyond what you and many others post as welcome to the board? I would hope not. Without knowing the person what more can we do than welcome them and tell them how to get to know us. That is one of the main reasons I do the web page.

Is there an expectation of reading the entire thread like the main board discussions? Early on maybe, but not when a thread gets huge. I think Stacey's approach of just jumping right in would be best. A simple "this might have already been asked but......?" would work as well.

What would encourage a lurker or dissatisfied poster to join in? That totally depends on the person. From past experience I've seen people come in and fit right in. I've also seen others who came in and wanted to change something totally around and when the group wouldn't do that pretty much disappear. You can't please everyone.

If someone is dissastisfied with the daily life "fluff" What should the function of a meet board be that would be differentiate it from a main board thread? I think that is the whole reason the meets board came about. As Stacey mentioned before the meets threads were mixed on the regular board and people were having a hard time finding the information posts. The meets board gives us a place to meet and get to know each other. We found out about each others families, jobs, lives, etc. In doing so we get to know each other. I think that enhances the cruise experience. The first time we went to a DIS meet onboard was on our first 4 day cruise. We didn't organize it someone else did and 3 other people showed up. It was nice to meet them but then we all went our own ways. Our next cruise was the DVC Member Cruise when Mark wanted to host the meet and came up with the button idea. We all started talking on the DVC boards and a core group go to know each other. It was wonderful! We went on a 7 day cruise where we participated in the meets thread and went to the meet but for whatever reason didn't click with most people (that group seemed to be all about the kids and them making friends and since we don't have kids we seemed out of it). Then came the 10 day. I know those of you who weren't on it might be sick of hearing about it but it was the absolute best! Not just the 10 days of the cruise (though that was awesome too) but the 18 months of getting to know each other. We laughed at and with each other, we cried because of and with each other, and I now have people I consider dear friends because of that.

OK -I've rambled on long enough. Sorry about that everyone.

Well, I'd enjoy a tag that says that, but I don't think I'd have the guts to wear the t-shirt! I need to re-read my posts for unintentional innuendos around here, don't I?

Noooooo.... I'm saying that I'm too old to wear them...

that's why I have a young, fresh-out-of-college, model-thin, smart, cute, twenty-something working for me.

She spends the majority of her workday (night, actually) out doing promotions, giving out stupid stuff like that, and buying people a complimentary 'product' of ours...

Good news about your MIL, Sandi. Keep us posted! We're also interested to hear whether your FIL learns to make coffee!

These are the important things, folks...
