A lot of fluff here just trying to make a top.:) Will this be it???

Finally, it has been a while. Maybe if I stayed home more often;) But hey, that is no fun

Now, I need to take a minute to brag on Ashley. We had 1 event at a swim meet on Friday night and then spent all day on Saturday at the meet. Ashley had an awesome meet. She won her first event on Saturday and improved her times in 7 out of 9 events over the 3 days. Ended the day with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th and was tied for 2nd place overall. Went back today and she placed 2nd, 2 3rd's and 7th and ended up as the high point age 9-10 girl. She got a trophy and was soooo excited.

Way to go Ashley!!! :cheer2:

Happy Birthday, Dale :bday:

Way to go Ashley. That's impressive. Now I know how my mother felt when I did something good. It's a great feeling. Congratulations!!!

Kevin - Sheetrock will be interesting. We don't have the CAC hooked up quite yet. They are coming tomorrow(Mon) to start laying out the CAC(Central Air Conditioning). Even if they finish by the weekend, we can't turn it on because the eves under the front porch are still open. Wouldn't want to suck in all that moisture from outside, we'll just freeze it up. Not a good idea. :earseek:

We went to Cheeseburger in Paradise in Maui on our honeymoon (9/2003). It was OK but nothing to write home about. Best chesseburger I've ever had...Hilton Hawaiian Village, September 2003. I can still smell and taste it now.

I think I will head to bed now. Everyone have a good night and talk to y'all tomorrow.

TTFN,
Maria

Since everyone here likes to talk wine,

Hey, don't lump me in with "everyone." I can't talk wine. :) The most wine I drink with any regularity is on a cruise.

Right now I'm finishing my fine "wine"...vintage 2005. Bottled in Rochester, NY. It's Mike's Hard Lemonade. :)

I know, I know, it's not a wine.

I just love their motto....A hard Mike's is good to find. ;)

WTG, Ashley!!

From someone who sinks to the bottom in a pool and calls that "swimming," I'm very impressed!!!

Alicia came up with an invitation today that has all my over-protective flags waving. Her best friend invited her to camp at Elephant Butte Lake next weekend with her Mom, Mom's boyfriend, sister, and a group of their friends. I don't know the circumstances of the camping (tent, trailer, etc.) but I know they are planning to jet ski. And I know that Alicia's best friend is a good kid, and her family is fairly strict and protective. But it's 4th of July! At a lake where historically, people go to get drunk. Our recent policy is to let go a bit, and let our daughter learn some responsibility for herself, but this is too much for me. She's going to be disappointed when we say no. Good friends of the DIS, would you say no? Keeping in mind that both girls are fairly boy crazy.

My over-protective flags would be waving too. Seems like 4th of July is just the wrong time to have this little campout. Maybe another weekend, but if historically the place is crazy on 4th of July, seems like good enough reason to say no. :)

Diana,

Having frequented Elephant Butte Lake many times over the last 30 years, I personally would not let one of my kids go there over the 4th of July weekend. This is typically the busiest weekend of the year at that lake. In my younger days, I typically was one of those who was doing the partying.

I have let my daughter go boating with her best friend at Caballo Lake, however, they never camp overnight and just make it a day trip.
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks, Karen and Pam. You know, I had a good handle on the grade school years, and had sort of figured out the mid-school years. I don't think I'm ready to be the Mom of a high schooler. Can I have a do-over?

How about some sort of compromise. You don't want her to be gone the whole weekend because you have some plans already made, but she wants to go and spend some time with friends. Given that, can you do something like just take her over for the day? Let her play with her friends, jet ski, etc, and you can have a picnic on the beach.

Just a thought (from the guy who sent his 15 year old to CR for 6 weeks unsupervised).

He's unsupervised? I thought he was staying with a family that you knew. Plus, I think a big difference is that CR isn't known as party capital of the world during that 6 week period.

That being said, I do like your idea of letting her go but not overnight.

That's my drink of choice lately too. I rather the lime over the lemon though. Fri. night when we went out to eat, I decided to try the cranberry since they didn't have the lime. That wasn't bad either.

Arrrgghhh!! All these "Mike's" drinkers, I may have to abandon ship... seriously, though... try the new Bacardi Silver Watermelon... VERY GOOD. (And made by a company near and dear to my heart)...

I heard last night that CR's been getting some really crummy weather this past week. Some of the teens from our church are there this week on a surfing missions trip, and from what I heard from one of the mom's last night, its been as if you've been driving your jeep there all week.

An early morning TOP pirate: with Scuba, Matt, CR, and some surfin' teens...
oh yeah... and the rainy Jeep

I may have to venture out. There are other flavors that I've been wanting to try that are another brand ... can't remember which one off-hand. The problem is that DH likes the Mike's lime too. I don't think he'd go for a fru-fru (ok, that doesn't looks right but don't know how to spell it?) flavor.

Hope everyone has a happy Mon. Shorter week for me - 4 days. We're heading to MS/LA this weekend to visit with family.

Me too!! Can't tell the difference between a screw top and a bottle with a cork...

Sorry, but I could *never* stand the taste of beer. It's true I could never get drunk on beer....cuz I couldn't get more than a sip of it in.

Now, wine coolers...ah, yes...remember when they came in 2 liter bottles??

Watermelon wouldn't go over well here. Mike can't STAND melon and I've never been fond of any "artificial" watermelon taste....prefer the real thing...
what other flavors do they come in? And can you ship me some samples? ;) ;)

Hi cruise mates pirate:

A few new posts since Friday? I will be reading for a while. :rotfl2:

In the meantime, DH and I have attended 2 memorial services. One was at Bug Shoals and one at sea off Ft. Lauderdale. Travel was the name of the game this weekend. Even managed dinner with my college roommate in G'ville.

Scuba - I think we passed Devil's Den on Hwy 27 out of Chiefland - is this the photo opportunity?

Happy Monday All...
