oh, do tell, what's a beach house? how many does it sleep???

The beach houses are individual houses that are Vero's version of a Grand Villa. They sleep 12. There is one bedroom with a king bed, and two bedrooms with two queens each. The cool thing is the bedrooms are all downstairs while the living area (kitchen, living room, etc.) are upstairs with the better views.

  • Master suite with king-size bed and whirlpool tub
  • Two additional bedrooms, each with two queen-size beds and private bath
  • Queen-size sleeper sofa in living room
  • TV/VCR
  • Dining room
  • Fully-equipped kitchen
  • Stacked washer/dryer
  • Private balcony on each level

I know when we booked AKL this past December, we looked up the AP rate online, but called the 1-800 # to book BECAUSE the policy for booking online was 45 day cancellation (no thanks!); 6 day when calling CRO.

Angie, we'll miss y'all by a few days - we'll be there 5/27-6/4.

I wanted to go that week too but didn't want the headache of rushing back for the girls' dance recital again. We had to do that after the cruise. We want to have the weekend to visit with my sister while we're in FL. My sister is hoping that my kids will decide to stay for a week & Bruce & I come back to GA alone.

Sounds lovely!!!!

Sounds lovely!!!!

Ditto. Talked to Mike about cruise/vero and he's ok with that. said it sounds fun. :)

Pulling up the point chart, June is Dream Season....let's say we did 4 day cruise, that puts us in Vero Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights (?leave Sunday)

Thursday 53 points
Friday 132 points
Saturday 132 points

317 points total. Puts it about 106 points per family if split 3 ways.

Jim, unless they're doing something different because it's marathon weekend, the cancellation policy for room-only is still 6 days.

Ang

Thanks for the info. It could be because it is marathon weekend or she just gave me the info for a package.

At least I know it did not change for the rest of the year.

Cool - now the question is how hard is it to get a beach house at 7 months.

We have 100 Vero points (more like 180) for 2007/2008 we could book at 11 months, but the rest would have to be at 7 months.

Anyone else have Vero points?? Anyone, anyone???

we never want to do it with a stranger :)

Sorry, but I just can't let sleeping dogs lie on this one... OH TAG FAIRY....:rotfl: :rotfl:

The Vero idea sounds great! (Especially since even if we can't do the cruise due to family scheduling issues with the "OTHER" cruise, we might still be able to make a quick drive down the road to Vero!!!!!!!!)

U-TOP with OM and strangers!!!!! (While I'm sitting in a meeting in a conference room in Orlando... gotta love an unsecure network...)

I would have enough for the 106!!! Unfortunately, they are not Vero points

On a side note, I booked us at Pop Century June 9-15. I can't wait. My sister thinks were CRAZY because of the heat the crowds but it's the only time we can go before it gets REALLY hot. Besides, we'll just go at our own pace. Anyone else going to be there?

Anyone ever do AAA room-only before? Are there any extras? I booked that rate so I need to join AAA now. I will check in to a package too.

Ang - we have done AAA room only (hey if it is a discount we book it). No extras - just a room.....sometimes AAA is cheaper than Fla. residency or Disney Visa but sometimes not.

I had sumised the reason Jim got hit with the cancellation is because of marathon weekend...Did not happen to us (yet).
PS - yes I think it did....when we booked over 4th of July at the Contemporary once...I think????

One of my rooms at Disneyland was with Disney Travel Co, the other with AAA. The AAA rate was better, a room with a better view, and more "perks". My friend Sharon can't get the time off work in March, so today I cancelled the Disney Travel room, and even with insurance, I still got socked with a fee....and it isn't a holiday. :confused3

But.....since the Disneyland Hotel was already booked full...I feel lucky to even get a room at the Grand Californian....so I won't complain. Much.

Yup - that is how I booked the DD excursions.....

Does anyone ever remember a time when the Boards were so insanely crazy???

Still hoping that they do something special with the Wonder, if they're bringing the Magic this way. If not, we'll be doing a Mexican Riviera. Sorry....it's just too hard to resist with it being this close.

Besides....I promised Hedgie! :cutie:

And no DVC here...

I'm outta here....taking Megan to dinner for her birthday.......

No apologies necessary. If we were that close, we'd go too.

Ang

A post that someone made on another thread made me think ....

We all have ressies on the Magic for a 7 night cruise. What if we want to move it to a Wonder cruise. Do we lose our discount & onboard credit?

THAT'S RIGHT.....AND IF UNCLE JIM WILL COME I CAN HAVE ALL THE WINE I WANT....

Anyone else have Vero points?? Anyone, anyone???

I think Virgel and his family spent a week there a couple of summers of ago when they bought into DVC, but I don't know if that is where there points are or not. I sure he will check in. Sharon

If the rules haven't changed in the past couple of years, NO, you won't lose your discount or OBC, but if it's only a 3 or 4 night on the Wonder, the OBC you'll receive is only $100.

While Vero is a DVC resort you don't have to be DVC to book there. They do accept cash reservations or you could rent ponts from a DVCer and have them book the reservation for you. Typical renting is $10 per point. There is a whole board here on the DIS just for renting.
