I faxed in my request for '08 & got a postcard back from DCL saying that they received my request. That was a few weeks ago. I know some of you are hoping for Alaska in '08 but I'm not.

I'm not sure I'd do Alaska either - just the thought of packing cold weather clothes for a cruise is just wrong ;) Also, I'd think I'd rather do a smaller ship in Alaska.

I'd do Alaska in a heartbeat. :)

but what about the argument that Disney would have to have a different ship for an Alaksa voyage??

I'm sure there will be plenty of available poolside seats! ;)

John will be heading up to Alaska in two weeks for business...Well, 3 days of business - but, they're heading up a few days early...something about a plane ride, fishing, and a few other "meetings" planned :rotfl2:

Btw, I DO know how to spell Alaska. Fat fingers, I guess. :)

Sharon and I talked about an Alaska cruise after we got back from our trip. We decided that we would not take the kids on it. Looking at scenery all day long does not appeal to the kids. Night time would be spent with the cruise ship entertainment, but it is still light outside so much more to do. Being on land gives a lot more opportunities to enjoy Alaska.

Just our thoughts.

Tell Vanessa CONGRATULATIONS from us, Garry. Where is she going next?

Well, we would enjoy Alaska I think. Our kid is old enough. But I'm with OM, I don't think DCL is ready to take that on. Hey! Maybe they will sail to Hawaii! That could be interesting, let's start a rumor. :rotfl2:

I tend to agree with Jim and Sharon. As much as I love cruising just for the sake of cruising, I think it might get a tad boring after a while. I think Alaska is one of those places best seen from land.

I'd be ALL OVER Hawaii in a heartbeat! SOOOOOOO jealous of Mark and Mary!!

Ang...now you know what it's like for us West Coasters, though. The airfare (and long flight) is a killer! It's always a huge determining factor for us.
And as far as the "horse place" goes...it really depends. Some are stables, some are farms, and some are ranches. So you were correct no matter what.

Doing some "practice packing" today. I've never done that before. I always had plenty of people to help haul luggage, so I didn't have to worry about how many bags I had!
Trouble is, I know once I get it packed, I won't want to unpack it and go through all this again. I'll be a pretty wrinkled person on this cruise!

Sometimes I wonder where my brain is, though (don't even THINK it guys!). I think I'm going to end up with one large suitcase, one smaller one, my carryon bag and a carryon bag on wheels.
Well, I can't pull three things on wheels. So I'd been trying to think of how to do that. I know I can attach the carryon to the larger suitcase, but every time I've tried that, they tip over. And it's a long walk from baggage claim to the airport Hyatt.
Then......DUH.....it dawned on me. Airports have these things for stupid people like me. They're called BAGGAGE CARTS!
I swear, I don't know where my brain is.

Hey....where's Kevin, anyway??? I have a camera question!

Maybe he'll show up when I tell him that we're putting his wife on a zip line through the jungle..........

Or bungee jumping...................

Stacey, get the Downy Wrinkle Release. I bought it when someone on this thread suggested it. I never ironed on our cruise!!! It was great. Thanks to whomever was the first to recommend it.

John's here - will he suffice in a pinch?

Really sad we're both sitting on the coach with our respective lap tops listening to the Cubs Game...

:Pinkbounc homer!!! :Pinkbounc Now the Cubs are only losing by 2!!! They better get moving - it's the bottom of the 9th!!!

No no no. We did that once. Baggage claim to Hyatt. UGH. The kids are little and can't carry much. So Mike and I each had one of the rolling suitcases AND a big duffle on top of it. My shoulder felt like it was pulling off my body and my hands got blisters in that "short" trip.

I said "never again."

So the next time we had to make that journey we went to the courtesy phone by the baggage claim and called the Hyatt. They sent a bell hop down in about 3 minutes! :) Worth the tip! IMHO!

I'm a football widow today. Mike and KT are at the game. Nick and I have been watching it on TV while we play Canasta. :) It's 1/2 time and the Buckeyes are winning 28 to 3! :)

We're heading to the Rice vs.University of Houston Football game tonight. Not exactly Big 10 - but, I can bet that Rice has the only string section in their marching band... :lmao:

That would never fly at OSU. There aren't even any flutes or clarinets.

It's ONLY percussion and brass!! Today was Alumni Band day. So they did FOUR Script Ohio's on the field at the same time. Pretty cool! :)

Disclaimer: Not this year's game (in fact, this is pre-Horseshoe renovation)

Rice's band is known as the mob- Marching Owl Band...They are irreverant and don't take themselves seriously- albeit they are very good, small but good. They are in dark suits, ties, sunglasses and fedoras with the exception of the string section who are dressed in evening attire - tuxes and gowns...

Really Cool Band icture - love marching band....They used to broadcast the National Championships on TV on New years Day (I think) - wonder what ever happened to that???? Oh yeah, we lost the antanae!!!!!

Good Morning All - so we have had a lasy day - lasy afternoon at that.
Errands for Mother today and cleaning (her house this time) and then a late, late lunch at the pub before more RAIN """"""""" More Rain """""" than Ernesto (that is not a complaint, that is a fact).

Must wake up because we finally have a spare day to go see POC 2 ......

Yipppeeee !!!!!!

And popcorn....

And then Gators Football!!!! (Sorry KikiKaren, I had too)

Well, maybe not, it is on Pay Preview TV - not sure if the corner pub gets that...we don't.....Not really fair - 100 years of Football and one has to pay....

Actually, one has to have cable? dish? and then pay !!!!!

No diving tomorrow - long story - full boats, oh well....

Wonder if CARS is still showing anywhere???
