Hi Everyone,

Just checking in. Stacey - I love your little emoticons you have. Where do you find them? The one that's "flashing" is toooo much.

Does anyone know WHEN the 2008 dates come out? You know tomorrow IS September 1st.

Thanks.

Oh, and by the way, I'm very happy that Ernesto pooped out and didn't turn out to be anything too big. I was praying for all our Floridian friends. Now, we have to worry about our GA friends? I haven't checked the weather this morning.

My brother lived at home until he got married in 1993. He was 32. After the wedding he moved into his own house......right across the street from my parents.

btw, I moved out of the house in 1991 and my brother is 6 yrs older than I am, so I also beat him out of the house by a long shot!!!

1993 must have been the magic year... that's when my brother got married, too.

That's also the year that my sister bought the house that we grew up in from my parents. (She HAD moved out... she was an Air Force wife...) So, she still lives in the house we all grew up in, and my parents live in a condo a mile down the road. And me, I have chosen to live 1142.85 miles away (at least according to Mapquest).

Maria, we're fine here in GA. I think it's the folks in coastal SC & VA that we need to worry about. Need to call my cousin.

The carjacking/kidnapping that happened here earlier in the week wound up not being random. It did happen in the parking lot of the building that Bruce works in. There is a diamond importer in the building, so the guy was targeting one of their workers.

Prayers & pixie dust needed for my dad. He went in for a stress test today & the doctor wants to do an angiogram. The doctor is available tomorrow but my mom doesn't want to have it done because it's a holiday weekend. :confused3 My mom doesn't like to deal with anything. My sister & I will call them in a little bit to try to convince them to have it done sooner rather than later. What's the point in worrying all weekend or even worse, my dad having a heart attack? What would my mom do then?

Sounds so familiar. Best wishes and lots of prayer and pixie dust for your Dad!
Mine finally called the oncologist yesterday so that he can have a biopsy done on his lung. Took some convincing to get him to do that.

In a way, that's GOOD news. At least you are staying stable.

I've put in a request with DCL for 2008.....but it's still a "wait and see" for us. I think we might go, yes. At least I hope so.

U-T.O.P. with gaRry!

pixiedust: :tinker: pdfg and for Angie's Dad, my Dad, Virgil's Dad....ALL Dads!!

Well, then.....I've now seen the orthopedic surgeon for my knee twice, and the other doctor (my ortho doesn't do feet) for my heel twice.

The verdicts are in.

I have a surgical consult for my heel next week, and will have surgery on it in October, after I get back from the cruise, and we (my family) get back from our train trip to the Grand Canyon.

I'm to have physical therapy and take ClosaminDS for my knee until I get back. Then we'll do 5 weeks of injections in the knee to try to put fluid in the knee. The cartilage is basically worn to nothing and I have bone on bone.
Depending on if/and or how long, the shots work, I will eventually have to have a knee replacement.

They're both on the right leg, and I almost wish they'd just do both surgeries at the same time and get it over with. But for the knee, we have to go through the whole process to satisfy the insurance company. I've already run the gamut with my heel.
I'm getting old and falling apart.

Someday, you'll find gaRry and I...out on a freeway somewhere.....trolling for body parts.......

Maria, the smilies are from Smiley Central. No reason for this one, I just liked it.

But these guys.......they're just plain funny.........

Hey, where did everyone go? I'm up late again. My big guy, AJ, has a temp of about 101.3 and earlier in the day it was 102. Called the pediatrician and he told me that Coxhachie(?) is going around. So, we'll probably be making a trip to his office tomorrow morning. I really should be sleeping cause you just know he'll be up during the night for some more Advil.

Stacey - I just love your smileys.

I am saying a prayer for our NC & VA neighbors in the way of Ernesto. It's coming my way soon enough. It looks right now to be going through Central NY instead of near the coast, where I live. Hopefully he'll poop out.

Nite nite...

Sorry to hear about all the treatments coming up, but glad to see that it is not affecting your cruising schedule! :thumbsup2

Good Morning All - It's Friday - Have a Happy Labor Day Weekend. Safe Travels if you are on the road.....Hope the weather is cooperative.

What are your plans?

Dr. Mike - Not sure how this would work for kids but I think it is a great option. Orlando has a service where you can call the MD and they will come to your hotel room. They will even come to Ft. Wilderness campground. We found the cost very acceptable and the convenience was unbeatable. For a child who needs to be seen by a MD but is not serious enough for the emergency room, this may be a good option. No transportation, no sitting around in a strange waiting room, and the rest of the family can still be in the parks or the resort swimming pool. Of course, the mediciine will still need a trip to the pharmacy...

Just a thought.

God luck with your Mom - and to your and your sister. Pixie dust and prayers for your Dad......All of this cannot help his stress level.

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Friday!

TGIF! Going to be a quiet weekend for us. Only thing planned is a trip to a local festival to meet up with friends. To all who are traveling - safe travels. To all still in the path of Ernesto - stay safe. To all who need pixie dust (especially all the Dad's) - pixiedust:

Yup, lots of Coxsackie going around here too. If you're pretty sure that's what it is, you don't need to take him in. It's a virus....there's nothing they can do to make it go away. Look for blisters in his mouth and they may be on his hands and feet too. Ever hear of "hand, foot, mouth disease?" That's Coxsackie.

Mike did a podcast about hand, foot, mouth.....You can find it here (it's episode 5) http://www.pediascribe.com/podcast/ It's in the toddler section, but don't let that fool you. Anyone can get it. Even adults. :earseek:

Hope he feels better soon.

Looks like Ernesto has shifted far enough east to not disrupt the OSU game tomorrow. :) Yippie! At least not with TONS of rain!!!

THANKS! I know he's heard of these guys before. The only caveat is they don't take ANY insurance. Which is great for him, tough for the parents sometimes. He did mention the "hotel call" doctors in his latest Mouse Matters: http://www.wdwinfo.com/MouseMatters/mousematters9.htm#hm-mousematters

He's hoping to someday get this writing/podcasting thing off the ground and then move to FL. He'd still want to work a bit (probably in an pediatric urgent care) to keep his foot in the door and get "material." It's kinda like a comedian going to their family reunion.....it gives them stuff to talk about. :) And for a pediatrician, it's helpful to know what's going around, or what the current buzz is that parents are talking about. :)

Thanks for the heads up. :)

Thanks for the all of the prayers & pixie dust for my dad. My sister & I called yesterday afternoon but it was too late for him to schedule the angiogram for today. So, he'll have it done on Tues. After talking to him, I feel a little less worried. He said that the tightening in his chest is always around freshly cut grass - either while he cutting the grass or walking along a street that has freshly cut grass. But, the dr. must suspect something to order the angiogram. Hopefully if they find anything it's only minor.

Stacey, continued prayers for your dad. And prayers for you too. How long will your recovery be with your heel?

Maria, how's Augie's dad doing?

Hope everyone in the path of Ernesto is staying somewhat dry.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone. We're staying put here in ATL.
