Stacey, what a bummer! Which car was it? Just died at 55, that's sad. And makes me even more nervous about the teen driving. So many things can go wrong!

Congrats to Dale on the car. If I could could convince Alicia to drive an older model like that, she might get a car next year too. But she thinks a recent vintage is more her style, a Corolla or equivalent Honda. For a while, she will just be driving my car.

It was the Yukon XL...and at least I still have the Equinox to drive in the meantime.
Luckily, we had both the Ford and the welding truck parked at the shop, so we had a vehicle to drive home in.
It made me think about Jordan driving, too. I'll get her AAA....got it for Megan. We may not use it very often, but it sure comes in handy when we DO need it.

Jordan is thinking "brand new Mustang".....but it's more like Grandpa's '89 Ford P/U or the Equinox. If for some strange reason we did buy her a new car, it also would probably be a Corolla or Honda of some sort. I hear Twilight Zone music!

We picked the 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
First daughter drove a Plymouth Reliant, then an Olds Cutlass. Second daughter got the Olds, wrecked the Olds, then had to drive the Reliant until the Olds was fixed. It was built very well and served its purpose well. We all liked that car. Neither of the girls wanted to drive our '93 Chrylser Voyager Turbo that we had! We're hoping our Regal will last long enough to be DS's first car. It has 160K on it now and still going strong.

Keep Susan (DVCcruise) and her family in your thoughts today! It's moving day! They are moving into their new house today...

Virgil, Kristin is alive and well and has stopped long enough to take a breath after the shuttle launch - she left us a message last night on our answering machine. It was a nice suprise after a long night of rehearsals. We'll try to get in touch with her - we're in the middle of dress rehearsals - opening night is Thursday night. We're not ignoring her - our schedules will be the opposite of hers for the next week.

I hope she's enjoying her internship!

Hey everyone, what a very long day. I did not get home until 9:30 tonight. We have been looking for a car for Dale and finally found one we liked tonight. Actually we had narrowed it down to 2. Test drove both of them and then came over to this side of town to get the kids so Dale could drive them both.

We picked the 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Very nice car with low miles, new tires and very clean. He is excited to get his first car. It is white outside with tinted windows and a very nice gray interior. Tomorrow morning, I have to take him to driver's license place to get the license, go to the insurance company and then they are bringing the car to us about 11 a.m. after they get it cleaned, etc.

Off to bed, have to be back at swim practice early tomorrow morning.

Lucky boy!

My Mom had a Cutlass for years before she got her current Buick Regal. The Cutlass was a great car....I'd take one! And I'd LOVE to have her Regal...it's a 2000, but still a wonderful car.

Right now, any car that runs is a wonderful car in my book! Haven't heard from Jay today to see if mine has been looked at yet.

It is ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHT degrees out there right now, and we leave in an hour to go sit outside with absolutely no breeze whatsoever.

If it wasn't before, my brain will be fried. I just hope I'm not standing on the side of the road at 11:00 again.

Heh heh heh....:stir: ....I found a picture of our teen drivers....

Stacey - here's hoping you get a few cool breezes tonight!

Well we have booked our 2007 vacation and it isn't Dinsey! :faint: Something we've wanted to do for a few years and we are finally going to do it. We're heading to Hawaii (Oahu to be exact) next March. I was there 18 years ago but Mark never has been . So we're going to spend a week on Oahu and do all the typical tourist things like the Arizona, Polynesian Cultural Center, etc.

Congrats ot Dale on his new car :car: I know all the DIS teens will be good drivers :drive:

Before we bought Sharon's car, which will become Lisa's car in 5 years, we asked a 17 year old girl what kind of car she would like. Her response, "Any thing that starts and moves".

I like that theory, since Matt has an 86 Jeep.

Not MINE! So far, I have to actually encourage her to go the full speed limit. I'm sure that will change.

Mary, did you use DVC points? Not even sure there are trades on Oahu. But I've thought I would like to use points if we get there.

Hawaii was mentioned, along with several other places. 2007 is very much up in the air. It could all turn into a car for Alicia, though, especially if she decides to stay at the charter high school. It's mid-town, and the in-district high school is less than a mile away.

Nope this is stictly cash. We'll see what DVC has planned as far as special events and maybe use our points for that. If not we could always bank them into 2008 :lmao:

We really want to do the Hilton Hawaiian Village so that is what we booked.
