What's with the REALLY lame cracker jack prizes???? I remember back in the good ole days when cracker jack prizes were really cool - and there were a lot of peanuts, too!!! It's a sad day in American pop culture when cereal boxes have better prizes than Cracker Jack!!!
I remember the really good prizes in the cracker jack boxes. i just made a comment to the DH about the cheesy prizes in the cracker jack boxes today. everything was better back in the day.

That makes sense..but...what is the advantage to that?
another late post but

CONGRATS TO JARED. Way to score those runs!

I guess I will have to see POC 1&2 before I see this one.

Karen-Awesome cake. I made a Belle cake for my DD's 3rd birthday it was really cute since she also wore a Belle dress to match. I'll have to find the pictures from it. Scratch that, we lost our camera at my brother's wedding and I never downloaded any pic off of it because I said I would do it after the wedding. Boy am I still mad!!!!

After the summer I've had, I figure I've earned a "guilt-free" trip. Honestly, though....there will be twinges of guilt, I'm sure. But hopefully they won't last long.

And....like I told Jim....bring the family!! Hey...you only live once!!

Wish we could - unfortunately, that is right in the middle of marching band season and the short course season for swimming.

It's easier to sneak in when you're tiny.

CONGRATS LISA!!

CONGRATS SANDI!!

You all came out of the woodwork for that one....I'm proud, it's like Old Times!!

And a U- T.O.P. for ME!

Congrats

Lisa and Sandi. should we be stalking the kids thread? hehehe what milestones do they have coming up next? heheeh

Hey everyone, what a very long day. I did not get home until 9:30 tonight. We have been looking for a car for Dale and finally found one we liked tonight. Actually we had narrowed it down to 2. Test drove both of them and then came over to this side of town to get the kids so Dale could drive them both.

We picked the 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Very nice car with low miles, new tires and very clean. He is excited to get his first car. It is white outside with tinted windows and a very nice gray interior. Tomorrow morning, I have to take him to driver's license place to get the license, go to the insurance company and then they are bringing the car to us about 11 a.m. after they get it cleaned, etc.

Off to bed, have to be back at swim practice early tomorrow morning.

Ya ate the whole box already??? Ya know ya can't have the prize until the crackerjacks are all gone. :teeth:

No no no....the prize now sits right on top. I think the cereal people got too many complaints from parents after the kids dumped the whole box.

And interestingly enough, I was just saying the other day that the Cracker Jack "prizes" now stink. A stupid tatoo or a trivia question! :confused3

Basically just got home.....will get to the reason why in a second. But...the boys won again. They beat out the #1 team and it looks like the never-ending baseball season just got a little longer. I may not be happy, but it's great for the boys.

So....we left the ball field (down in North-Central Phoenix) at about 9:30. We're about halfway home, traveling at about 55 or so...when all of a sudden, the car just stops. Everything shuts down. Except, thank goodness, the headlights. I fumbled in the dark for the flashers and eased the car off the road. Tried starting it again, nothing. Well, it tried to turn over, but didn't start. Battery's fine....not out of gas...starter's fine.....
Jay can't work on my car, although he and Jared did pop the hood and stare for a while. He can do everything on his '59.....gee, I wonder why...it has no parts!

Anyway, I called AAA, who said it could be 11:45 by the time someone got there. It's still 102° outside. Great. Two of Jared's coaches pulled up...brothers who live out by us. They went to get gas, even though I knew it had gas, but no one listens to me.
AAA shows up, with gas. Apparently the guy on the phone (with AAA) didn't listen to me, either. He has a tow truck, but says AAA didn't authorize a tow, so he told me to call AAA back and get authorization, and in the meantime, he was going to go help someone else. Probably taking gas to someone with a flat tire. :sad2: About this time, Jay is ready to explode. I had the two coaches "escort" Jay away, while I asked the tow truck driver with gasoline to give me just two minutes.,,,two teeny minutes, pretty pretty please.....so he said he'd wait. I called AAA and they said "Yes, we DID authorize a tow". So they called the guy with the gasoline's dispatcher and told him to tell the driver to tow my car. Jared and I rode with the coaches while Jay had the distinct pleasure of riding in the tow truck with Derek the chainsmoker to our shop. Jay HATES cigarettes. I don't think Derek got a tip.

That was fun.

We think it's the fuel pump and have a guy coming to work on it in the morning.

Wow.

You get all the fun.

Playing with tow trucks in the middle of the night in 100 degree heat sure does sound like fun.....after all I was just sleeping. :lmao:

I got an email from Matt yesterday. The first time we heard from him in a weekend and a half.

He is alive, eating, and playing soccer. Today he heads to the beach.

He must have been online checking his tickets because American emailed me. Glad to know he is out there looking the flights over. 6 weeks have passed quickly. He comes to MCO tomorrow night!!!

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Tuesday!

Sorry for the late check-in but I had to leave the house at 6:00 to go for my yearly mammogram (what fun). At work now - will check in at lunch.

Jordan will be getting hers soon, too. That makes a lotta states that won't be safe to drive in for a while. Matt, Dale, Jordan, Alicia........:car: :scared1:

U - T.O.P. with the teen drivers.........

Stacey, what a bummer! Which car was it? Just died at 55, that's sad. And makes me even more nervous about the teen driving. So many things can go wrong!

Congrats to Dale on the car. If I could could convince Alicia to drive an older model like that, she might get a car next year too. But she thinks a recent vintage is more her style, a Corolla or equivalent Honda. For a while, she will just be driving my car.
