You don't have to bank ALL of your points by the end of may. Just 50% of them. (50% of the TOTAL number you have, not of what you have left that year) Then, I think the next cut off date is August 31st.

So bank 50% of them....by the time Aug. 31st rolls around you should know if you're going in December, ...if not, bank the rest. :)

HTH....
and maybe another DVCer will chime in too just to make sure I'm right (Mike handles all of the DVC stuff, but this is what we just had gone through before we left for the double scoop trip)

OIC!!!!!
If one has say 200 pts....then one would need to bank 100 and still have 100 to play with and decide what to do by next cut off....ahhhhhhhh I dont care waht THEY say Karen, you are good for some things:thumbsup2

PS for your member cruises that you all have been on (karen..mark/mary) is the pts chart for that particular cruise discounted in anyway or the cash price? or is it just BAU (business as usual?)

If you are looking for a bargin the Member Cruise is not the way to go. In fact it is usually about 6 points or so more than a regular cruise of the same length at the same time. However a Member Cruise will blow any regular cruise out of the water. First off is the fact that it is a charter and so will usually do a different route than a regular cruise. 2003 was CC, Nassau, CC - 2005 was Key West, Sea, CC - 2006 is CC, Sea, CC. Next up is the gifts - goodies when we walked into the stateroom and more goodies every night. Then there is the special entertainment. On the 2005 cruise we had Ducky Williams (and got a special litho from him), Art Linkletter, and Susan Egan (who is the voice of Meg in Hercules and played Belle on Broadway).

You just can't compare a Member Cruise to a regular cruise. It isn't for everyone but we love them!

Did they do something with your points already? B/c the May 31st deadline has passed.

But yes....you've got it right. Say you have 1000 points. You'd have to bank (or use) 500 of those by May 31st. Then (I think) another 250 by August 31st.

cool, a UTOP!!! shared with Amanda! :)

OHMYGOD MY BABY RITA IS NOW SIX YEARS OLD!

:sad2: How is that possible??

Thank you to everyone that said Happy Birthday to her. You guys are so wonderful. I showed her the posts and she was so thrilled!!!!

Monica- that birthday song was so sweet. :)

Karen- thanks so much for the pen!!!! I truly thought that was the neatest (and unexpected, I might add- that was a surprise wasn't it? Or did everyone else know about it and I somehow missed that tidbit from this ginormous thread? LOL) I used it on the cruise and then it went straight in the memory box for eternity- for ETERNITY I tell ya. :) Very sweet of you and very appreciated!

I'm so glad I caught up on this thread- because now I know who to thank for the pirates bags! Thanks so much Sandi! We also had no idea who put those bags there and who to thank. That was so sweet of you! And came in SO handy since we weren't prepared with anything for pirates night. The kids enjoyed the flags & took them to dinner & the party afterwards- they loved the blow up ball, candy, etc. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!! What a nice surprise that was- and so thoughtful of you! I'm so glad I know who to thank now. Thank you Sandi!

Now about this do-over. I cannot believe it but I mentioned to DH wouldn't it be great if we did one cruise right after another? I explained some people were wanting Eastern- some western... I said it was mentioned doing both but not everyone would be able to do that ofcourse. He said yeah, that would be incredible. I said would you rather do that and nix Jamaica next summer? And like instead of doing WDW beforehand- just do 2 cruises in a row? He said yeah, probably, sounds good to me. :cloud9:  So depending on dates- we may do that summer 2008. I need to lose a LOT of weight by then- double cruise means double the weight gain and honey, I need to lose a lot of weight before gaining any. Here's me: :yay:

I would LOVE to help with any plans beforehand- I don't mind doing the work... I just have no clue how people did those things! I mean linking up dining? no clue. Taking orders and such for the shirts or bags- no problem but I haven't a clue HOW to do that. How did y'all do all that? I have no clue. In other words- sign me up for anything but someone has to 'splain how to do those things. I just don't know how to do any of that stuff. :(

Oh about the mascot. Scoopie will always be dear to us and don't want to leave him out- HOWEVER, here's an idea for another mascot for the do-over... might sound stupid but I'll run it by ya anyway. LOL
What about a boomerang- get it? do-over... a boomerang even looks like the "u-turn" thingy in some people's sigs already (a boomerang on it's side). However, I was thinking it could really look like the life rings (if that is what they are called?) that is on the ship and in many people's signatures- but not a complete circle... with a piece missing so it looked like a boomerang? But colored/designed like one of those? We could just call him (her? LOL) "do over"?
Whatcha think? Totally stupid? LOL
Maybe it would be cute once made into a stuffie... like scoopie was. ??

Hey, that is good to know. Thinking about it for 2007

Or maybe if it WAS a life ring- a complete one... with arrows on it making it look like we came back again- you know like an arrow kinda on the end of the "do over" pic in some people's signatures? Something like that.

Get it? life ring? We got off the ship but they threw it out and pulled us back in--- for a "do over!" LOL

so lets just say I was a member this year, and in may06 I banked all my pts...then in dec 06 i have all my banked pts and my 07 pts available? am I correct in my thinking? then in may 07 i bank all my points again...akk those pts would not be avble until dec 07? then if not used by may 08 the org pts from 06 would be lost? am I right?thanks Pam

Amanda -- let me see if I understand. I believe you are talking about Dec 05 points. Those points are good through Nov. 30 2006. If you bank them, they can be used Starting Dec. 1 2007 and have to be used by Nov. 30, 2007. If you don't plan on using your Dec. 2006 points in 2007, you would bank them and not use them until the following year.

Correct me if I am wrong any of you other DVC members out there.

Unfortunately, I have never had that problem. I am usually in the borrowing category. We have 220 points per year. Only one year since we bought in 1999, have I banked anything, and that was only like 11 points. How funny. As our guide told us when we bought in "doesn't matter how many years you borrow, just won't be able to in 2042." I am sure we will get to a point where we won't be going as often and we will have points to use.

Ok, just caught up doing the Virgil thingy. Gotta run, Ashley is spending the night with a friend and I have to run her stuff out to her. I think Charley, Dale and I are going to grab a bite to eat while we are out. I have to pick her up at 7:30 in the morning to make it to swim practice. (yuck)

Karen -- Tell Mike I loved his article on Swimmer's Ear. Got some great advice we will try out this summer.

Something else to consider.....if you do have banked points from a previous year....make SURE you tell membership services "to use the banked points first." They *usually* do, but every once in awhile, when Mike tells them that they kinda stumble and go..."oh yeah...ok....uh...yeah." :) Mike also does ALL of the calculating before he calls.....that way, at the end of the call if they tell him "you have 15,432 points left" he knows if they are right or if they did something other than what he wanted. He's VERY protective of his (uh...OUR) points! :)

Maybe he'll just call you unexpectedly ;) and you can tell him yourself. :lmao:

Did Dale ever make it to see the DaVinci code?

Oh about the mascot....
You're welcome. We had so much fun sneaking around putting those on people's doors, trying not to get caught. DH and DS made it into a personal challenge; their own little cruise adventure.

GMTA. I was just talking to Larry tonight about the possibility of doing B2B Western/Eastern! He likes that idea. We'll just have to see what comes up when the dates come out. We're not much into WDW, so we'd think about doing an extra cruise instead of a week at the parks.

I was just wondering what a good mascot would be for our Do-Over cruise, but couldn't think of a thing...

Scoopie wore clothes? I had no idea! LOL

Hey but the boomerang 'almost' shaped like a life ring- or the actual life ring (both with name "do-over") could have like stamps of the ports of call (for that cruise) on them in passport style but otherwise decorated like the life rings. KWIM?

Ohwell, just an idea. If it doesn't fly... I might still use it for an idea for shirts or for magnets on our door or something. LOL

I wish I knew how to do graphics stuff- then I could show you what I'm thinking... because it's really cute in my mind. LOL

Sandi- so your DH is kinda with it on the double cruise thing too huh? Cool beans!
That's cute that you did the sneaky thing with the bags. LOL How fun!

Well I get home to that many pages, wow.

Lots of cool idea bopping 'round here.

I've already created a new folder on the website, only thing in there for a while is the image. :)

Will definitely have to add that disclaimer in there, somehow! :rotfl2:

Well, tell him I will look forward to his next unexpected call. I have never had a pediatrician call me on my cell before (ooooo)

Yes, Dale did make it to the movie and liked it. His youth leader had given him some really good printed material to read before seeing the movie. Of course, as he is my avid reader, I think he read and reread everything before seeing the movie. I of course, had not yet read the book, so I only have the movie to base it on. It was pretty good.
