5/24/03

I have trouble enough keeping secrets from my better half. A two year secret? Please! I couldn't last 2 months.

We're in Cat 7 with the Navigator's Verandah. We enjoyed the same room when we sailed on the Wonder over Thanksgiving 2000.

I'm sad...I was hoping that our 5/24 docs. would arrive before we leave for our Wonder cruise tomorrow. No sign of them today, and our UPS man comes very late in the afternoon, so we won't see them till we get back. Oh well, it will cheer us up after the depression of having to leave the ship on Easter.
Is anyone planning to go see the Catman and His Flying Housecats while we're in Key West?

Just wanted to get this back up to the top and invite any new DISers going on this cruise to join us as we near our embarkation date.

We also have a private Yahoo site if you want to come share info in a more secure area.

For everyone else...any new purchases for the cruise? I've picked up a few items for my nightly dinner wear, and DH is considering buying a tux vs renting.

It's getting close. Can't wait! We do have two boys (ages 13 & 11) and were wondering what other kids their ages intend to wear for the more formal dinners. Thanks.

my guys are 4 1/2, 9 1/2 and (a week shy of) 11 on the cruise. they wear their suits and mickey bow ties i found on ebay for the formal night (one of three nights we require they eat with us...the other nights are optional for them if they'd rather eat with their new friends in the clubs). for more casual nights, they wear Dockers and polo shirts (reminds me that i need to see if the older boys' shirts still fit).

welcome aboard, jaxkong! if you email me, i can send you a link to our private yahoo group. that way, you can see my family pic with my boys dressed for formal night from our cruise last march.

Well, my wife and daughter have been looking for mother/daughter matching dresses from Disney for eons now. A few years back, there were beautiful ones at the Polynesian, we didn't get them then, and haven't seen any in quite a while until...I found a nice matching set at disneystore.com:

I can keep that a secret for a couple weeks.

That's one topic I don't think we've discussed... anyone else planning on Palo's this time? We didn't last time, and really enjoyed our family dinners together (mostly because we had wonderful couple that we sat with who loved the girls) and we had a great pair of waiters (Sunny & Ellen).. so debating whether we will hit Palo's this time, and when what night we would go.....

which night is a big topic with dh and me. we may do it on the semi-formal night as we require the boys eat with us on formal night, but not semi-formal.

when to do brunch is another big question.

Friday night May 30, I must have Palo reservations!

Jaxkong - One of the boys that I will have with me turned 13 in at Christmas time. We had hoped that he could bring a friend with him but it didn't work out and so the 15 year old coming with me is bringing a friend. Christopher will love to hear that there will be a 13 year old boy going on the cruise that is part of this thread.

Palos - I don't plan on going this cruise. I went for High Tea and dinner last cruise because mother-in-law went with the kids and I. Mother-in-law wanted to do tea, it was ok, I don't drink either coffee or tea so in my mind tea was only ok. I wanted to do dinner. It was great, especially the souffle. Mother-in-law is not going this time, she said it would be too hot by May for her to come with us this time and husband will not go. I just feel kind of strange eating by myself.

For the formal and semi-formal nights my boys will be wearing dark dress pants and white shirts, maybe a tie. I am sure the older one will be wearing a tie and dress shoes. For the other nights they will be wearing nice pants (beige, navy) khaki type mens dress pant, but not with the pockets on the side and polo shirts and dress shoes to dinner. For the tropical/mexic......... night dinner they will wear the same clothes that they are wearing in the picture that is on the yahoo page for our cruise group ( hawaiian shirts and beige shorts). On our first Disney cruise they wore tropical shirts and shorts to dinner that night.

Less than five weeks! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Any new purchases...too many! I've been buying stuff with the cruise in mind. Now, whether we'll be bringing it all, that's another question! ;) I think we are all set with dinner wear. I keep thinking, half the clothes, twice the money, so I'll be trying to leave some of the outfits behind!

We'd like to do Palo for brunch and dinner. As for which day, it doesn't matter. We'll see what morning is the character meal and try for another day. Dinner I was thinking on Tuesday. But once again, it doesn't matter.

Sly Hubby, we're celebrating our anniversary, too. We're not quite to ten years, though! :D Congratulations! :smooth:

i've finally started into trying to figure out what fits the boys and make alterations. middle ds' suit pants need to be lowered, so took out the hem i did last year to redo. need to put buttons back on the shirts i made for last year's tropical night (thank goodness i made everyone's just a little big!).

we, too, will be celebrating our anniversary...our 15th is this coming wednesday, but late is better than never. we're even holding off on giving each other gifts to buy something nice on the cruise for a special 15th memory!

we'll also be celebrating our oldest's bd the first night. he'll be 11 on june 5, so he'll get it double...once on cruise and once at wdw on his actual bd. younger two are commiserating as they are both october bds and realize they'll be in school on their bds until they are "too old" to celebrate their bds at wdw! in my mind...you're never too old! but they are young yet! :-D

Well, the brown truck passed by our house today again... no docs! It's probably because we went through All Seas Travel. And who knows if they use UPS. What exactly are in these docs anyway? Our room keys? Our dining rotation?

I'm getting out our luggage today and will start throwing stuff in there as I go through the day. I got a really nice collapsible cooler at Costco the other day.. it even has a handle and wheels like it's luggage! I'm still looking for odds -n- ends like a lanyard and over-the-door shoe holder.

I'm so excited for this cruise. It feels like winter again today. In the 50s and breezy. This time of year it's usually in the 70-80s. I'm freezing!!!

What is usually in the documents is the paperwork you need to fill out. You won't get your room keys and dinning rotation until you actually check in at the port that day. For our first cruise I was so excited about getting our docs that I had to go to the travel agent's office, even though he told my husband he could give him the docs at work(a previous manager of my husband who is a part time travel agent on the side) but I couldn't wait. I was kind of disappointed when I got them but having them does make the trip seem that much closer. So for our cruise last year even though I knew what would be in the docs when they came I was still excited knowing that it wouldn't be much longer. Again the UPS man passed us by again, if he even came down our street as I had to work today because of being off on Easter Sunday.

Congrats to you too Sara!

The day the docs came, we faxed in to reserve excursions for one of the glass-bottom boat tours and one of the swim with the dolphin things.

My wife went to put in her passport application yesterday. In NJ some people still don't have picture id's - on the driver licenses you can have one with or without a picture. So, since she had no photo id, we figured we may as well get a passport for her. Talk about expensive! $110 for the passport with a rush on it (to have it in 2 weeks) and then another $30 for the township. I guess that counts as a purchase for the cruise! Last DCL cruise - we/I forgot her birth certificate

Congrats on the anniversary ..

we will definitely need to have a toast on the ship!
