5/15/2011 - Disney Dream 4nt Bahamas - May 15, 2011

Hello all! Hope you don't mind if I join this thread, even though (this is where it gets complicated), there's still about a 25% we won't be on this cruise.

Maybe right now you're thinking, "Wow, first post and already drama." Stay with me peeps, I have a good excuse.

DH & I (no kids) booked the 5/8 sailing for our 10 year anniversary. Things looked good, I was a planning fool (*cough* yeah, which one of us isn't?). We planned it around DH's schedule because a few years back he returned to school at a local university with special class schedules for working professionals.

But...(really big one -- little bit genetics, lot of sitting, even more ice cream...but I digress)

DH had a nice long chat with his advisor a few weeks ago and realized that now that he's hitting his last 30 hours he has to start taking some courses that are only available during regular hours. What this means to us is that he's on regular calendar time for 2011, and Easter being so late has pushed the end of the school year out a week from what it's been in previous years.

#@@#$!!!

That boom you hear was my multiple trip-planning spreadsheets imploding.

The really good news was that there was plenty availability for the next sailing, and even our same cabin was available (oceanview). YAY! :cool1: The annoying news was that in the past week it had gone up about 15% in price. :headache: Oh DCL, you are one wiley little heifer. Is our timing good or is it good?

This has also really confounded our plans to visit WDW pre-cruise as we won't even know until October a little about how DH's finals will fall, and not totally certain until January! (Now, see, most normal people don't get why this is an issue, because those weirdos don't plan a vacation 1.5 years out, let alone choose where they'll be eating on Thurs, 5/12/11 at 5:50 pm). But I think I've finally figured out that worst case scenario we can do a few days before and a few days after. Which is a little joke on me since I have always been an avid "no way jose, you must be crazy" on the concept of a post-cruise WDW visit. It's really a "you need a cruise after a WDW trip just to recover" thing...I know you know what I mean.

So if you're still with me (and not desperately seeking your "block crazy poster" function), hope you don't mind me hanging out on this thread despite all things being up in the air. I just can't imagine going without a DCL-support group until things are settled.

Branv, I totally understand. I think you will find you are among fellow neurotics here :) We booked a dummy date onboard our 12/6/08 cruise with the knowledge that we would transfer the ressie to the Dream once dates were released. Our TA moved that ressie on the 1st day it was available to reserve. To say we "plan ahead" is an understatement.

there is now rumor that our kids' schools may return to a traditional schedule next year (we are on year-round school and off in May) due to budget cuts. In which case, my kids will be probably taking a homework packet and "homeschooled" for our vacation time. Nothing much stands in the way of our Disney family therapy.

I hope everything works out for you, and no matter what, you'll get on the ship at some point, right?!

And that's why I love the DIS. We're all a little wackaloon in our special Disney way. :rotfl:

Holy cow, you really did plan ahead! Now that is patience. I am a little surprised to hear that a school district would make such a radical scheduling change with so little warning! For goodness sake, people work, have to handle day care, and those things don't move on a dime. Here's hoping for your family that if they do make a change, they'll at least do something like warn you at the start of the 2010-2011 school year that it will change in 2011-2012.

To start the day off right, thought I'd include the latest webcam image from Meyerwerft of our girl!

Hi everyone,
I've never used a forum/board for any of our Disney Cruises (we've been on 3 in total), so I'm still getting used to it. Anyway, I'm 13, (will be 14 when we go) we're going on a 4-night cruise on May 15th, 2011 on the Dream to Castaway Cay and Nassau. We'll be traveling with 5 people--myself, my mom, my dad, my dad's cousin and our elderly friend. :)
I'm really excited, but I'm also worried because there's no other kids traveling with us. :sad1:

I can't wait to go! Only 392 days left!! :rotfl:

I wouldn't worry! With the new tween/ teen clubs, I think that you will find some great cruise mates your own age!
Welcome aboard to you and your family!

Hi everyone!
We're back from our Royal Caribbean cruise to the Mexican Riviera and I missed my DCL! I drove my DH crazy with my constant comparisons. It was a nice cruise if I hadn't had anything to compare it to... but I love DCL too much. We can't wait till next year and now that we have this one past us, I can start obsessing!

Well hello from Las Vegas!! I just went to offically book my trip for 5/8 but didn't get the cats we needed. They were there this morning and in the middle of booking one cat was gone and they didn't want to pay the extra for a diff. cat. So we just made our switch to this date!!:thumbsup2 No biggie as we are still going just a week later right?:cool1:
So our cats and room numbers are 10A 7501 and 11B 7527.
I will be with both my daughters 21 and 19 (time of cruise) my grandson 2 (toc) and their boy friends. My husband still isn't agreeing to come but I think now that I booked it he will want to:rolleyes1 But if not his loss not ours.:lmao:
I have been on 2 piror DC and so has my youngest. My oldest has been on 1 and the others are newbies. :goodvibes

So not to come in and get all pushy or anything but what do you think about coming up with a cute group name??? Of course I am not really good with that but if we all put some ideas out there we can take a vote. Or then again I haven't read the whole two pages yes,:rotfl2: so maybe there is one. I should look huh?:surfweb: but first I will go change my ticker to this date.

Ok read up.:rotfl: Nice to see there are a few of you in my age group. I'll be 41 at the time of the cruise. Being with my family is great and all but some others in my age group to meet up with would be great. :thumbsup2

Oh and I would like to join in on a FE too. And we are in second dinning. I think that's it for now.;)

Well my DH has decided to come now. Just as I expected.:rotfl2: So we now have a third cabin. We couldn't be on the same deck so I am going to be moving some around now.
My and DH in room7501
DDKaty and her BF Chason room7527
DDBrittany, BF Nate and and her DS Tristen 5513 (kids clubs deck)

We are all so excited and can't believe we have to wait one year. We hope to get lucky with booking the Hyatt at the airport the night before. Then will get a limo to take us over so we can stop for some goodies (um :drinking1)

Where is everyone, gosh I have post 3x already.:rolleyes1

Woohoo... booking the 3-night cruise following this one making it my 1st Back2Back cruise for my 40th b-day!!!
Also now my mom is joining us for both to so an "all girl""generations" cruise too!!!

LOL
Don't get too excited! I'm already on page one so I think we are still in the growing phase... however, my friends are suppose to be booking this cruise to while they are on the Wonder (right now! Sooooo envious!) so we'll see this weekend when she gets back what she did.;)

Our family just booked this sailing! We are so excited:) This will be our first back to back, we are also on the May 19th sailing. We did category 8C 8th deck, let the countdown begin!

Yay!! A Back 2 Back buddy with me!!!! We are in 7191 for both cruises so we don't have to pack up the room after the 4 night...
Since we are traveling with friends first we will do more exploring during the 3 night cruise after but looking forward to 2 CC days and the day at Sea already!!
Any kids??

Morning everyone! I can't believe we're finally under a year! :jumping1:

Although, as hot and humid as it already is for May, I feel torn wishing for it to roll around again next year ;)

Seems my days are marked by countdowns: ## days until I can sign up for Touring Plans (done!), ## days until 2011 rooms are released at WDW, ### days until I can book excursions/dining. And I guess that's the good thing about booking so early -- a lot more anticipation :)

I already posted this on the main board for our forward cabin dwellers, but she's so pretty I'll put it here too:

You can add us to the list!!!! There will be 6 of us 2 adults, two 14 yr olds and two 10 year olds.
This will be our first cruise and cannot wait!!!!:cool1:
