Hey I just noticed you were a fellow ONtario citizen! What part are you from?
Where are you graduating from??

I'm from a small town near London in southerwestern Ontario and I am graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario! Where are you from?

we live in Hamilton right now but are moving back to TO next summer... :)

Have fun moving! Right now we are both at home with our parents (trying to save some money!) but we are hoping to move to London by the end of the summer!

Well I'm sad. I had to reschedule our trip. Too many things starting saying May wasn't going to be the best time for the whole family. We have now decided to go in Sept and celebrate my grandson's 3rd bday then. Hope you all have a great time and I can't wait to read about it next year.

Oh well.... you still get to cruise AND your grandson will be old enough to go to the Oceaneer's Club!! Happy voyage!!

Just booked the trip today! We are so excited! DH and I have been on 3 RCCL cruises before, but never DCL! We went to the World in 2006 and last October and had a blast! This go round, we will be cruising with our 2 kiddos who will be 8 and 5 at the time of sailing! So excited that the trip is less than a year away!!! I am totally excited to be sailing on the Dream!

We will be on deck 9 in a 8B category. 2nd dinner seating, so that the kids can eat with us and then go to the kids areas while we finish our meal. We already asked them if that is what they would prefer, and yep...they would rather NOT hang with us for an hour and a half to eat!!!

Very excited to be taking my kids on their first cruise, and to be taking our first cruise on DCL! :cheer2:

Yippeeee!!
Welcome aboard! Madigan will be excited that there will be someone else her age traveling to OC too!!!
I am thinking of switching to 2nd seating for the 3 day (doing a back to back starting with this one!) as we are traveling with friends for this cruise, who wanted main seating. Want to try out both before we go on the October cruise with the family!!!

Hi Everyone! Hope your summers are off to a good start :thumbsup2

Can you believe I'm already starting to scheme what days we want to try for Palo & Remy? We skip the main dining rooms, so we're generally flexible. But I learned the hard way our first cruise that scheduling the Palo brunch the morning after a late Palo dinner is something like trying to air up a full tire. Oooph! :rotfl: And I know not to schedule anything the first night because for me sailing over the gulf stream can sometimes be a tiny bit . So I'm still scheming things out...goodness knows I have just a few months to get it situated ;) How about you guys...working the planning yet?

Hahaha! I am trying to figure out the same thing! I think we would like to do Palo, likely for brunch, but I hear dinner is good too!! Decisons, decisions!!

Well my DH has decided to come now. Just as I expected.:rotfl2: So we now have a third cabin. We couldn't be on the same deck so I am going to be moving some around now.
My and DH in room7501
DDKaty and her BF Chason room7527
DDBrittany, BF Nate and and her DS Tristen 5513 (kids clubs deck)

We are all so excited and can't believe we have to wait one year. We hope to get lucky with booking the Hyatt at the airport the night before. Then will get a limo to take us over so we can stop for some goodies (um :drinking1)

Where is everyone, gosh I have post 3x already.:rolleyes1

Hi,
Just curious, Is your husbands name Evan. My husbands name is Mark Lander

You can add us to the list!!!! There will be 6 of us 2 adults, two 14 yr olds and two 10 year olds.
This will be our first cruise and cannot wait!!!!:cool1:

Hi, this will be our first also, christine 14 joey 13 and johnny 8

Oh happy day! Well, for anyone doing a pre-cruise trip to WDW, good news anyway.

A few months ago a number of travel agent websites were reporting that grad nites had been pushed (thanks to a late Easter), to the first two weekends in May. So yeah, that included weekend before our cruise. Booo, hisssss!

But the official Disney website is now showing that grad nites will be last weekend of April and first of May, leaving May 13-14 free and clear! Yaaaaaaaaaay! We would have been really crunched for time at MK otherwise, this makes it a lot easier. :thumbsup2

And just think, just about a month and a half before we can hit those end-of-season summer sales to stock up for the trip (pphhhht, as though down here we won't still be using that stuff for another 2-3 months ;) ). Only problem is finding closet space for the 9 months it has to sit there :rolleyes1

:fish:I was just wondering is anybody here using the fish extender on the a peice of fabric with pockets on it and you put little presents into your friends extender its usually for the kids because when they get back to the room they all look and say what did i get what did i get ?! its just a fun experience , So come and join me and my family ! :fish:

Hello everyone! I'm new to the Dis, this will be my first cruise, and I'm getting married on Castaway Cay! :yay:We have 4 cabins booked: Mine & DF, my parents, and my sister & her bf are category 11B GTY; DF's parents are booked in 11A GTY. Does anyone know what the difference is between A and B? So far we have the second dinner seating but DF's parents may be switched to the first if DF and we can get a table for 2 (travel agent put in a request and said we have a good shot at having a table for 4 to ourselves since we're getting married on the cruise).

If you don't mind, I have a few questions for cruise veterans:
1.) Is the pirate party the night of Castaway Cay? If so, I'm kind of disappointed because I wanted to dress up in costume, but on the plus side I get to party in my wedding dress;
2.) Is the Palo brunch the at sea day? If so, that would be the day after the wedding and we would love to use our included Palo ressies at brunch instead of dinner. I don't want to skip any of the restaurants for Palo, so I figure the brunch would let us fit them all in and be a nice start to our first day as a married couple.

I've just learned about fish extenders, and I'd like to participate as well. Any suggestions for FE gifts or where to buy an FE?
Anyone have an opinion on Disney photography? No one in my family can take a good picture if our life depended on it, so we have to use Disney's photographers, and man are those packages expensive!
Sorry for the ramble and all the questions. I'm so excited I can't wait! We'll have a TON of extra cake, so feel free to drop by for a slice!

Hello everyone! I'm new to the Dis, this will be my first cruise, and I'm getting married on Castaway Cay!

Congrats on your future wedding party: It sounds like it will be magical :)

I've answered a few questions below

Mine & DF, my parents, and my sister & her bf are category 11B GTY; DF's parents are booked in 11A GTY. Does anyone know what the difference is between A and B?

The only difference is location, location, location. 11B seems to be mostly on decks 6 & 7, while 11A pops up on 8,9, & 10. But you might also get upgraded, so you never know where you'll pop up ;) Our first cruise we were upgraded from a cat 12 to a cat 9, and our second cruise from a cat 12 to a cat 11 (not much of an upgrade, but a better location, that's for sure!)

1.) Is the pirate party the night of Castaway Cay? If so, I'm kind of disappointed because I wanted to dress up in costume, but on the plus side I get to party in my wedding dress;

Well, it being a brand new ship, there is no telling if it's going to do things the same way it's been done on the Wonder 4-nights. I suspect we won't know anything until the very first sailing. But if it is, pirate night is indeed on the CC night. You could always add a few costume items to your wedding dress, hike it up on one leg and call yourself the Pirate Bride ;)

Is the Palo brunch the at sea day? If so, that would be the day after the wedding and we would love to use our included Palo ressies at brunch instead of dinner. I don't want to skip any of the restaurants for Palo, so I figure the brunch would let us fit them all in and be a nice start to our first day as a married couple.

I know I said we can't know anything until the Dream sails, but I'm going to go out on a short limb here and say that brunch will still be held on the At Sea day (it's the only thing that makes sense). Brunch is yummmmmmy. The only bad thing is people constantly getting up to get more food, so it's less intimate, but it's still fun! Don't forget all the great to order food. Sometimes people get so caught up in the buffet spread, they forget to make room for the "to order" pancakes...or eggs benedict...or chicken parmigiana...or pizza..or..or..or Drooooooool. :rotfl:

I've just learned about fish extenders, and I'd like to participate as well. Any suggestions for FE gifts or where to buy an FE?

I've never participated in the FE, but I know there are a couple of great threads about them on the main cruise board. It's loooong, but fun to read :thumbsup2

Anyone have an opinion on Disney photography? No one in my family can take a good picture if our life depended on it, so we have to use Disney's photographers, and man are those packages expensive!

DH and I take terrrrible photos. But each cruise we've purchased a photo or two. As for the regular lobby ones that don't require buying a whole package: here's my opinion, which I can guarantee you will find someone who disagrees with me, so take it for what it's worth.

I really like the LifeStyle portraits (the ones in front of the all white screen, where you do more fun, casual, more natural poses). Just FYI: with those you take off your shoes. Those have always turned out the best and look more like the professional family portraits you pay someone to come to your home to take. I really dislike the photos in front of the other screens as I think they end up looking cheesy (I swear we had one that looked like a Walmart photo-lab picture from the 70's).

With the Lifestyle ones, they are very good at posing people for the best picture (tilt your head this way, now up a little). NOW, there is one guy who does it that I loathed...dark hair, short little guy with an attitude. He seriously kept saying, "Suck it in sweetheart...suck it in honey" But didn't say a thing to my DH with the substantial beer belly! :rolleyes1 Plus he was impatient, and trying to churn and burn through, so we just had an off feeling. After that, we always waited until the other photog was doing the Lifestyle portraits (petite girl with dark hair, very sweet). Aside from the attitude, her portraits always turned out better for us. I don't know if those two are going over to the Dream or staying on another ship, but I hope she goes!

I've seen great Lifestyle portraits where everyone coordinated the color. For that beachy wedding thing, we saw a great one where everyone wore untucked, sleeves rolled up, button-up white oxfords, jeans that were rolled up (like strolling in the surf), plus the barefoot thing...it was great looking!

Though to be fair, I don't know how a wedding dress in the white family would look with the Lifestyle portraits. If it's the exact same white as the screen, you might blend too much, and if it's not, either your dress or the screen will look dingy. If you want to do dress shots, I'd save it for the character photos.

But if you want my opinion as someone who did the bride thing, and helped plan manymany times, for wedding photos I'd definitely be happier paying for the private DCL photog. I've seen some people posts their wedding/renewal photos that the DCL photog took, and they looked beautiful! Ah well, people seldom look as amazing as they do on their wedding day, and you want pictures of that! DH and I have never taken better photos, so I count my lucky stars every day we spent that extra money on a good photographer. Once that magical day is over, all you have left to remember it by are your memories and the photos. :thumbsup2

Again, just my opinion.

Hope some of that helps. Best of luck to you!

Edited to add: I enjoyed reading this TR on a secret wedding at CC: wedding pics start on page 27, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1487443&highlight=wedding

Thank you branv for the the congrats and all the info! You really helped a lot! I think we will pay for the DCL photog- you're so right that we'll prob never look as good as we do on our wedding day. I work in veterinary medicine at our local zoo and he's in construction, so we're always in carhartts with undone hair, etc (heck- the animals don't care what I look like!). As far as stateroom location is concerned, is there a difference in noise level or is it just proximity to the rest of the ship? Thank you once again, and hope to see you on the ship!
