We have never stayed over the 4th and heard that there is a golf cart decorating contest. Is it true? If so does anyone know the details.Also is there some kind of parade with the carts and bikes?

Yes. We were there for the 4th last year and we got a flyer about it when we checked in (I think?) that showed the parade route and gave info on it. We were not at the campground for the parde, though.

The parade starts at the hitch/unhitch lane on the main road. It goes from there to the Settlement. After that, there is an award for the best decorated cart. We did it last year and had fun. A lot of the carts had small candies and other small trinkets (beads, rings, whistles etc...) to throw out to the crowds. We will be there again this year.

We did it in 2004 and had a lot of fun. However, we had some on bikes and some in the golf cart and that was hard because the parade was so slow I kept wishing for training wheels! Next time we'll just stick with the golf cart.

And remember--there is no such thing as too much decorating!!
