4th of July wait list and it wasn't filled but came available…why not wait list?

We were on the wait list for July 4 at BLT. I logged in a few minutes ago and the 4th is available so I reserved it but the wait list wasn't filled. How does that work? It shows there's still availability so what is the process for DVC filling wait lists?

No one knows. That's a bit of an overstatement, but basically it far from clear on how it fills. I think it's an overnight matching. It's definitely not instant. Most recommend you stalk the booking tool in addition to having a wait list.

That's kind of what I did but was really surprised to see it available and then still have availability later in the day too. Seems like an odd system.

Welcome to the world of DVC, you will find that many things don't make a whole lot of sense.

We've been DVC for 15 years now but I've never followed a wait list so closely as this time. In the past we just waited to see but this time, I actually kept checking on it.

The WL process is a batch job that runs on the computer system, at a set time every so often. No one knows the frequency of those process jobs. Yes, many people have their WL available but not matched, that is why people suggest you stalk the website when you have a WL pending.

I did get the ressie I wanted when I saw it available again. I'm glad I kept looking and didn't rely on the WL or I probably wouldn't have gotten it. You'd think they'd have a better system for WL.

Yep this just happened to me this week as well. I had added a BLT 1BR Standard View and I knew there were not too many of those available. I logged in this weekend and there it was...a 1BR BLT Standard View room. I had to cancel my other reservation online first and then add in the BLT room but it worked out. If I had waited for the waitlist to fill it, I'm not sure if it would have happened.
