4th of July Poly help!

I am planning on staying at the Poly over the 4th of July 2008. But I have a couple of questions I am hoping you can help me with.

First, I read on here somewhere that the beach can get really crowded on the 4th. Will I need to plan ahead and stake out a spot in order to see the fireworks?

Second, will it matter what day of the week I check in on? Or will the whole week of the 4th be equally nuts? I am thinking of doing a split stay, but I am not sure I want to if check in is going to be a huge hassle.

we are going this year on the 4th
We are going to epcot and plan on that and MK to be packed by noon
We are gonna watch the 4th fireworks on the 3rd they do a dress rehearsal at MK. We plan on taking our time and if its crazy going back to the GF and relaxing.
I am not sure about the week but I heard the week after the 4th is more booked this year
