I went to Budget Car website to see if I could rent a minivan from the night of 12/29/03 through the morning of 1/3/2004. They advertise a $219/5 day minimum rental, which is what brought me to their site to begin with, but upon reading the fine print, that offer expires 12/15/03.

The actual rate is $452!!

Is this really what I can expect for a rental big enough for 2 adults and 3 small kids plus luggage? IF so, why would anyone do this over taking a limo service from the airport?

Thanks for any responses

You might want to try for a full size car. That should hold your family.

You are going over a very busy time and prices are high.

Try www.mousesavers.com for rental codes.

You may try National, during your time frame for a minivan I’m getting a base rate of $395. You may be able to get this rate even lower with coupons

I just got a rate of $442 on National for 3/27 to 4/02. With the VacationOutlet coupon! Geez, last week it was $179. Dollar is still $259. It might be a mistake, but I think I'll wait a while.

Almost ALL of the coupons and lots of discounts are not valid over the holidays, plus this is the busiest time of the year for Disney (between Xmas and New Year's) so you figure the rental car companies are starting to run lower on things like Minivans.

You might try priceline or hotwire, but I would not expect a great deal around this time of the year.

You might want to try Dollar.com I looked up your dates and a minivan for the dates you listed above. The price is approx $306 including taxes (not extra insurance). This is using code FLTVL which is in the Florida Travel Vacation Guide. I have used this code before without a special card or anything. You can also get a Standard SUV for the same price with the code. Have a great time

We're a family of five too and usually rent a fullsize as Gail suggested. It's usually MUCH less expensive than a minivan.

I just secured a minivan rental from Dollar for 9 days in early December for $333 including all fees, but not additional insurance.

It might just be that since you are going to have the van over New Year's that the rates are going to be up. But I would definitely do as Gail said and go out to www.mousesavers.com to get a code. Then go out to the individual companies' sites and do some comparison shopping.

Good Luck

I JUST went to Dollar website and punched up the dates you requested for a minivan.

Use CD # OL5040 and the rate comes to $230 plus tax ($46 per day).

That's about the best I can find.

ffys- what supported discount is Dollar code CD# OL5040 for? (Example: if it's for the Ukranian Women's Summer Ski Team, I should probably try to sound Ukranian.)

HA...your Ukranian typing accent is very convincing.

OL stands for Orlando - for the Orlando market.
5040 is just their numeric tracking code for that referral.

The management at Dollar has said they are moving (or have tried to move completely) away from the GMF promo codes and are taking those same referrals to their OL codes in the CD box (instead of promo code) to make tracking them more efficient.

Maybe is 50 to 40 % savings!

lol

I just punched in your dates at rentacar-usa.com . Got $270.60 (all taxes and insurance included!)for a luxury 7-seat van. They list it as a Chevy Astrovan or a Pontiac Montana through Alamo, which is in the terminal.

Luxury car (Buick Park Ave) and Luxury 4-wheel drive (Chevy Blazer) are the same price. Both hold 5 large people.

Premium (Buick LeSabre) holds 4 large and 1 medium size. $241.20

I found this website (Nova Car) through MouseSavers and it really seems to save you money for a holiday rental.

Hi,

I was also getting a rate of over 400 for Feb break so I Just made a reservatio w/ Dollar using that OL5040 it gave me a great rate of 357.00 with taxes and fees. My question is this on the side of it says "Must show Association ID at the counter ....Invalid Code" any idea what this means?

Thanks for all the replies and great information!

I am going straight from WDW to Port Canaveral for the Disney cruise, so I need a company that has an office in Cape Canaveral. I know that Avis and Budget have rental returns there. I'll check for the others.

Thanks again

OPPS!

Mark I think you are going to find that you are paying MORE due to the drop off. My brother found the drop off rates at the cape so high he is just using a towncar.
