I've been lurking and searching for months. I need 12/15 from 8AM until 12/20 at 8PM and it has to be a minivan.

So far my best rate is $411 including all taxes and fees, one additional driver and the $22.99 LDW thru Alamo for the 5+ days.

I used the Walmart Code 430710 and the Entertainment Book Coupon with one free day on a five or more day rental.

The cost of the rental before the LDW was $273.90...The LDW added $137.94 :headache: but I just wanted to be safe since my Mom will be the other driver. Yikes.

The same code and coupon came to $569 when the pick up was the Disney Car Care Ctr and the Drop off was MCO.

Has anyone seen a better rate or code for a minivan?
Thanks.:thumbsup2

I think you are lucky to get one, I know they are at a premuim right now in Florida. I say keep looking check out all the rental companies and look for the last minute specials.

Have you tried Thrifty, they are onsite and usually reasonable. Use the Orlando magicard corp #004M001010 for a discount.

You have a decent weekly rate (anything 5-7 days is considered a week), but that LDW is killing you. I personally never take the insurance. Many credit cards off coverage, as well as your personal auto insurance.

Using corporate code 004m001010 (orlando magic code) with Thrifty for your dates and times the total with taxes is $343.91 and includes free additional driver.

Even if the additional driver is NOT on your policy at home?:confused3 What about the credit card protection? Will MY credit card cover someone driving the car, other than myself- so long as they are listed on the rental agreement?

I would love to forgo the LDW- It's 1/3 the cost of the rental!;)

I know I have protection for me- what about my Mom?:sad2:

The $273.90 IS the Total Rate including additional driver & Fees...:goodvibes:goodvibes The other $138 is insurance. My Mom will be doing most of the driving- she wants to stay with my Uncle in Clermont, while we'll be at Universal- (really DONT need a car at Universal...) Since she doesn't use credit cards:headache:, I am renting one and adding her as a driver. Has anyone ever rented this way before?

Use the WalMart Alamo code and then use the "40% off minivan" coupon over at Mousesavers: http://www.mousesavers.com/alamo.html will get you a base rate of $250 for the Minivan with a total of $322 with taxes. There is no reason to pay for insurance.

Has the code expired for 40% off minivan.. I can't find it on mousesavers. If someone is willing to PM these codes for me I would greatly appreciate it:worship:

Ooops! My bad. It's $40 off and not 40% off. Sorry to get your hopes up. In any case, the code is AD1123NDP and according to Mary you don't need to print anything. She also says: "Valid on rentals picked up by 12/15/09 (except 11/23/09-11/27/09)"

We really don't know for sure what your insurance and/or credit card covers. You should call your car insurance agent and see if your mom is covered. Most insurance policies will cover someone else driving your own car automatically, but I'm not sure if it extends to a rental car in your name. I think it's worth the $138 to call! If that doesn't pan out, then call the customer service line at your credit card company and ask the same thing. I don't think I would go into your whole plans about renting the car so she can be essentially the sole driver, but I would ask if she is covered as an additional driver.

One more thing ... does SHE have car rental insurance at home? You may also want to look into if her insurance will cover her as an additional driver.

BTW, your rental is for 6 days and not just 5 since your are keeping the car for 5 days and 12 hours.

I got $311 TOTAL for a week, 1/15 to 1/22 for a minivan at MCO through Alamo via Priceline. I know there are people who are unsure of Priceline, but I've had excellent results. You know the total price before you confirm your bid and they only deal with the best companies, so from our standpoint, there is nothing to loose.
Ok, if the rates should fall to $199 for a minivan, then I'm stuck with $210, but I'm willing to be dollars to donuts that I've got one of the best deals available.
Need some tips on trying Priceline? I'd be happy to help.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I kept thinking I was missing the 40% off code:surfweb:
