I am currently debating between 2 resorts for a suprise 9 day 40th birthday trip for dh - a 1 br at Saratoga Springs (on points) or garden view at the Polynesian (paying cash, lagoon view and concierge are not available, actually it is the only deluexe we would like available for our dates). Our trip is 12/8-12/17.

We will be golfing 4-5 rounds and most of my dinner plans are at epcot and mk area resorts. So basically I am debating between the 2 since SSR is more convenient for golfing (esp. having the full refrigerator and washer/dryer) while the Polynesian is more convenient for dining and my park plans and has daily housekeeping.

I keep chancing my mind since we like both resorts but the Polynesian may seem more special for this occasion since we will have many years of staying at SSR?

I am just looking for some outside opinions before finalizing my plans. Thanks.

I stayed at the POLY in Samoa garden view room on the side facing the Volcano Pool. I thought the room was in a great location, and I think the whole feel of the POLY is romantic and tropical. I never stayed at SSR, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Poly..

I am golfer also (and we are going for my 40th in Jan 08)...

Anyway, you will have your tee-times and more then likely early in the day. Just head over from poly and enjoy the round.

But having the poly gives you more flexiblity at night. You can hop around easier and if you change plans, you can go with the flow via monorail and such right there. The golf , doubtful you will change. Plus you just get up, drive over and done

The poly is romantic and everything also.. Go poly

We are going for my dh's 40th in two and a half weeks!:cool1: He wanted to stay at SSR because he loves the view, loves the spa/workout area, and loves to walk to DTD. We didn't have enough points left, so I got a great AP rate for our studio. I also booked a couple of nights at AKL to surprise him (plus got a really good rate!), since we've never stayed there and are looking forward to the AKV. We like to visit the Polynesian, but we really enjoy our balconies for our morning tea and evening drink, and they don't have any there that I could see, so we've never tried to stay there. Whatever you choose, have a great trip.:goodvibes

Actually a lot of the rooms at Poly have balconies. Ours was in Fiji and overlooked the marina with a view of the Contemporary with the monorail leaving and we could see the ferry coming and going. Also a lot of "people watching" and yet it was a very quiet room. My DH loves spending time on the balcony so it is a must for us too.
