We are taking a child in May and he will, maybe, hit 40" by then. On the safari I'm pretty sure kids have to be seated on the inside and can't stand or sit in a lap. Can a child that small see over the edge very well to get a view of the animals.? He loves animals but would be very disappointed if he couldn't see them. We may just not mention it and see all other animal walks and bird show as well as other attractions and the shows. Thanks for input.

They let me hold my 7 mo in my lap, but I'm sure about a kid that is not a baby. My 41" daughter sat on the seat and she could see fine.

He won't be allowed to sit in the outside of the row, but should have no problem seeing the animals

He will be fine on the inside. I wouldn't really want him to miss it!

I did not know this rule and are youngest two who are not that tall sat on the outside and no one said anything. Not saying to break the rules, just that we didn't know.

Kids under like 7 I believe it is aren't allowed to sit on the outside. If their older than that or look older then their fine. The CM that boards you checks the rows and if a child is too small they'll tell you they need to go in the middle. Same as what they do on the trams

Our kids were 3 and 2 last week, my 2 year old is 23 pounds so no passing for a 7 year old lol. Again, not saying at all I recommend trying to do it, and if we had known that was the rule we would've switched places. We rode at rope drop and again at sunset and nothing was mentioned either time.

I rarely hear them, or see them, hold to this any longer. 1 out of 10 times when we do the safari the CM will pay attention to the child on the outside (same for train). Matter of fact, last time we rode the train they did announce that young children couldn't sit on the outside but they didn't stop any from doing it. And there is no confusing a 2 or 3 yo with a 7 yo.

Agreed. When we rode in September, my four-year-old sat on the outside. I totally forgot about the "no child on the outside" rule. Nobody said a word to her.

Both my two year olds sat on the laps of people who were sitting on the outside of the row. Both under 36 inches. This was just two weeks ago.

Disney's term is basically that kids would be better to be seated in the inside of the row but they never say "do NOT sit kids on the outside of the row". Disney's way is to say "please refrain from doing A and/or B". So, just sit on the outside part of the row, have your son right next to you and as long as he does not stand up (that will get your jeep getting notice because no one is allowed to stand), he will be fine.
