%40 off and free dining?

I booked through AAA and asked the same question and they said that I could add another discount.

I have a package, this can get quite confusing! This is a surprise for my mom, I can't wait to see the look on her face when we pull up to the Poly!:goodvibes

You will not see a 40% discount on rooms and Free Dining. It doesn't make good business sense. One or the other, but not both.

I agree, it won't happen. Disney will not stack discounts. When the adjustment is made they will take off one discount and apply the new discount which means you need to decide which one works better for your family. Only one code can be entered. If that was the case, my next trip would have a pin code and an AP code on it, since I have both, but choose the AP code as the better choice for us.

Perhaps that is what she meant, one or the other, I should have clarified. the room works out better for us anyway.:thumbsup2

Hi if I did book with the 40% discount, and wanted to switch to free dining(if its offered) do they charge a fee to change your ressie?:confused3

You will not be charged a fee but will lose your room discount. I was fortunate enough to use free dining twice but had to lose my AP one year and AAA last year. It was worth it to me. You need to do the math. The free dining is for rack rate rooms.

I think the free dining would probably be our best bet. I have one 12y/0 and a 3y/o and DH. We would be staying at a mod. for 8 nights in mid sept.
Im afraid if I dont at least try to book the discount and free dining isnt offered we will end up with nothing...

I agree. Since the moderators are booking this deal I guess it is OK.

Yes you do have to do the math. I find the cheaper the room, the better the free dining vs the more expensive room it's better to keep the discount.

We gave up a cast member discounted room in Sept. 2005 to get the free dining -- which was a much better deal for us than 50% off Pop Century. We are hoping for the free dining again this year. We also did it last year in August. This year we have a bigger group.

If you not saving more than $130ish on your room, your better off with the free dining.

Well thanks for all the advice but I just called and spoke with a not so nice:( CM and he wouldn't let me use the code(and he was pretty nasty about it too) oh I hope hope hope there is free dining

I am the moderator who has booked the 40% deal - just be aware we know nothing more about this than anyone else. I called and had the pin attached to my household. I hod not received the email because they had my email addy messed up.

DO NOT BASE YOUR DECISIONS REGARDING THIS ON THE FACT THAT I OR ANYONE ELSE HAS BOOKED IT!

You will not be charged a fee

This is not necessarily true - the terms and conditions on your package reservation state:

For a change made 44 days or less prior to arrival or that results in a rate change, there is an additional change fee of $50 per package plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers.

or that results in a rate change - this is where they could apply a charge if they wanted to. I think Disney is realizing that the way some people book and call every time there is a new "something" and change their ressie is costing them lots of money.

(and he was pretty nasty about it too)

Can you define nasty for me please.

I would like us all to take a step back and look at this from the viewpoint of the CMs who are working the phones.

It has been reported that they have been admonished by management and that their job has been put in jeopardy over this fiasco.

I'm not blaming anyone but Disney for the way this has gone - but I think we need to cut these CMs some slack - how would you feel if every call you got over the past week was from someone trying to get a discount - and in many cases you can see they have called multiple times.

Remember I'm not blaming anyone here - Disney messed this up - but just like I said that we should not take this out on each other - we also need to be kind to these poor telephone CMs.

True, I was not taking the late cancellations into account because at that point there is rarely anything left during the free dining promo. There is usually a window of opportunity to book that closes within a few weeks also.
Thanks for correcting that!
:guilty:

True, I was not taking the late cancellations into account ...snip...

I think we mis-understood each other, I'm am not saying anything about a late cancellation - the part that has me is if you make a change and the change causes your rate to change - they can tack on a $50 change fee.

If you alter your reservation within the 45 day mark yes..Unless TA's charge a fee to switch I have never heard of, or been charged a fee to switch. :confused3

The answer to that, then, is to cancel your reservation (which you can do without penalty up to 45 before your trip), then re-book the package/room/whatever you want.

I have always heard from the reps on the phone that they'd prefer to just transfer your existing down payment to the new ressie, though. Probably has to do with their numbers (every phone job I ever worked had quotas, etc, of some sort).
