40% at Poly vs GC at WL

I currently have 5 nights, Deluxe dining and park passes at the Poly for $2800 using 40% off

If I switch to WL keep my deluxe dining and park passes the total is $2800 without using the 40% off code. But I would get at 750 gift card.

I can't decide if WL is as nice as Poly and is a $750 gift card worth not using the Monorail and staying at WL vs Poly.

If anyone has an opinion it would be greatly appreiciated.

I personnally love the WL and we are booked there with 40% discount in Feb. If you do pick the WL and the giftcard, you might want to downgrade your dining to the regular plan since you will have that large gift card making that reservation even cheaper. Can you get the 750 at the poly if you're concerned about the monorail?

She could get the GC at the Poly, but it would be more expensive since to get the GC, she would have to pay full price.

I haven't stayed at the WL, but am considering it for our May trip. I have always wanted to stay at the poly, but WL looks just as nice. Although you don't have the monorail right there, you can take a boat over.

I also agree with DisneyFan55, if you stay at WL, think about downgrading the dining plan or getting rid of it altogether. If you spent the entire $750 on dining, this would give you $150 per day to work with. How much of the $750 do you estimate you will spend on other things?

I would stick with the Poly--but that's just me. I love the Poly and the theme at the WL holds no appeal to me whatsoever.

Right now I have all my ADR's filled for the 5 days we would be there under the deluxe plan. So I would need tips for 13/14 ADR's I have. I am spreading my ADR's over 6 days since we won't be leaving until late on the last day. My husband wants the extra food. :)

I also have a BBB scheduled for my daughter which will be $200

So I still have $350 left to spend. I don't think I will be buying $350 worth of merchandise.

I am still trying to decide is the monorail/poly = WL/$750 gift card. They are the same price after the 40% coupon at poly.

It is driving me nuts. :)

Poly full price with the giftcard would cost me more than $750 with the same stuff.

I would stay WL but we LOVE WL. THe extra 350 dollars could go to purchasing a photopass, buying some Christmas/Birthday presents ahead. That is just me though.

I prebought photopass when I got the $99 email. :)

I guess I am worried about transportation more than anything. We will be at MK 3 days, 1 day at AK, 2 days at Epcot. I did not buy the hopper passes.

I am not sure about how long the buses and the boat might take to get to MK and Epcot. I know AK is bus no matter what.

I have breakfast ADR's at:

Ohana 9:25
Tusker 8:20
Askerhaus 8:10
Chef MIckey's 7:35
Ohana 8:10

I know I need to be there 20 minutes prior to these times.

we love the poly.

with those early breakfast ressies at the poly and that many days at mk i would choose the poly for sure.

I swear by the poly!
the monarail is invalueable.
you can walk to ticket and transporation
monarail to mk and epcot and buses a 5 min walk to dhs and ak!
mo way would i give up poly with DD and monrail service!

My dream resort to stay at would be Wilderness lodge. I have a 40% off deluxes, but I still can't justify the money. So if we go, it will be Pop. I'm alot of help! :lmao:

We, too, love WL and are staying there with the 40% off code. Yes, it is quite a bit more but still a good deal. I try evey day to get the 45% off AP code for our visit at the beginning of Feb, no go though. The AKL was out there for 131/night. No one really wanted to stay there though. One time, if during Value season, and a 40% off you should try it even if just a couple nights. It's really a nice resort and my favorite!

^^^ We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and loved it!!!! However, I would recommend doing the math before switching resorts. You have the Poly with park tickets and the deluxe dining plan for $2800 using a 40% off PIN code. Find out if the money you are saving with the PIN code is the same/less/more than if you switch your ressie to WL without applying the 40% PIN code and usig the 750 gift card instead. Math, math, math. ::yes::

I LOVE the Poly-we stayed at WL last Jan & it is a very nice resort...glad that we stayed there-this is what I found:
Rooms: WL smaller and darker than the Poly
I did like the sink being outside the bathroom-easier for families to get ready
GCH vs. WL lobby....WL MUCH quieter & more relaxing-love the leather chairs!
Transportation -big issue w/ me-waited TOO long for the buses-really missed the convenience of the monorail. All in all the WL is a beautiful resort but I'd much rather pay the difference to stay at the Poly....but you never know-you may absolutely love your stay at WL & not want to go anywhere else!

We've stayed at both resorts and love them both for different reasons :). The monorail at the Poly is very convenient, but we find the boat at the WL to be just as convenient ;). I don't think you can go wrong with either one as they are both beautiful resorts :goodvibes. But with that said, my family would lean toward the Poly for the simple fact that the rooms are larger and there is a day bed in every room, which makes for a comfortable stay for us as we have 2 teen boys . Good luck deciding, although I'm sure you will have a great trip regardless of which resort you choose :wizard:.

What type of room do you have reserved at the Poly? and what type of room would you reserve at WL? Also are you paying $69.99 per adult and $19.99 per child per day for the deluxe dining plan? I'm trying to do the math and think that I would switch to the WL to get the $750 gift card (that way maybe you can get the basic dining plan and use the card for anything extra plus save about $150 between the two plans). I would switch to WL unless you have an awesome view at Poly. Also in doing the math I'm not sure how you can stay at WL at regular rates for the same price as Poly (with your 40% pin) but either way you have a tough decision and I'm not much help. :rotfl:

Also you can use the gift card after you return home for shopping Disney online, in the stores as well as using it in the parks or save for a future trip since you can apply to Disney resorts and dining plans and photopass. The cards never expire.

Both resorts look beautiful and guess it depends on the view you get and if you think you will use the gift card during your stay or after you get home.

Considering this latest post, I would stay at Poly. It will be a ton easier to get to ADR's from the Poly. Also, even though you don't have hoppers, it will be easy to go to Epcot via direct monorail in the morning, then direct monorail back to Poly in the afternoon for swimming or rest, then direct monorail back to Epcot at night! Very easy.

Having said that, in accordance with your original question of is WL as nice as Poly.....my opinion is definitely yes. WL is gorgeous. However, due to transportation conveniences, I'd go with Poly over WL.

Remember Disney runs a special breakfast bus from the resorts. We used it our last stay and had no problems making our meals

So funny because I feel the same, but in reverse! :rotfl:

LOVE the WL, stayed there many times... not at all interested in Poly

We were at WL the week after Thanksgiving with a DD 6 and DS 2, DH and I
We went to HS once, AK once, both times used the bus and it was fine-- maybe waited 10 minutes at the most for the bus.
We went to Epcot 2 days- used the bus once and the boat to MK- monorail swap once... both were quick and easy
We went to MK 2 days and on a third day for the party and used the boat each time.

We had CRT at 8:30 one day and used the boat to CR and then took the walk way to MK and still had plenty of time once we arrived to take pics on Main St and around the park before we checked in still early for the ressie.

I think it is do-able, however is it really something you want to do? kwim?

The WL rack rate price was only $67 more than 40% off at the Poly with the same food and tickets for both.

I thought $67 was close enough to same price considering the $750 GC.

My husband is tired of me talking about it. He said just stay with the Poly and stop talking about it. So I guess I don't have to debate anymore.

Thanks everyone for voicing your opinion. :)
