4 Hot Mamas take on the World 9/2011! *UPDATE 8/31* I'm leaving TODAY!!!

I LOVE Big Thunder!!! It's the perfect amount of thrill, but not too bad that it scares you kinda ride. Perfection. And you don't get wet. This of course is why my kids prefer Splash, but they like BTMRR enough to indulge me several times during the trip, as long as the ratio between riding it and Splash stays 2-1. :rotfl:

Love the BTMR pic, looks so peaceful. Ya know, until that rickety train comes rumbling through. :)

I think Fantasmic showing every night is a good thing, not a bad thing! :thumbsup2 It means people won't have to crowd into DHS the 2 nights a week that it's playing anymore, and hopefully the crowds won't be terrible, and it will be easier to get a seat! That's why I never see Fantasmic, I can't imagine waiting hours just to get a decent spot to sit!

Love your BTMRR picture! It's not one of my favorite rides, but everyone says it's more fun at night, so I'm going to try that this year!

I absolutely  LOVE  BTMRR! My parents were the same way - they'd let us ride something, and then yell at us once we got off for not holding on. :lmao: I'm the opposite with my kids - I yell at them for holding on .... "LET GO OF THE BAR! Now, put your hands up in the air and scream WEEEE!" I make the kids practice in the car sometimes with DH's driving. :rolleyes1 I'm a bad influence on my kids. :rotfl2:

I forgot to add, but I'm pretty sure my brother and I were "WOOHOO!"-ing... and I'm also pretty sure Mom was telling us (as nicely as possible) to shut up. :lmao:

I agree... just the "right" about of thrill!

LOL, I think a train had just went through when I snapped this pic!

I hope you're right about F!... maybe if the crowd isn't so bad and we can get a seat without waiting an hour we'll watch the show.

As you can see by the photo, the sun was just going down as we were in line... BTMR was pretty fun at dusk, but I think it would be fun at full dark, too!

I'm not too keen on all the closures either but was reading a couple of days ago that PW may reopen mid Sept.

I would be bummed if BTMRR was closed during our trip - your pic of it looks great. Lol at the story of your mum on this ride! :rotfl:

Hopefully PW will reopen in time for your trip! And let's keep our fingers crossed there will be no other attractions closed in September!

I mentioned Mom doesn't like heights... on my first family trip back in '87, we also somehow talked her into doing the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. Mom managed to make it almost halfway up before freaking out! Since there was a line of people behind us making their way up the tree, she had to use a CM exit to get back down!

I spent a fun afternoon with my mom on Saturday... lunch and some shopping. It was great to spend time together, just the two of us.

And, bonus... I made a few purchases for my trip!

First, I found this tee at Old Navy:

And at Target, I found the cutest (and super-comfy) sundress:

I bought both colors... thinking about wearing one of them on the plane ride.

I also got a new Vera Bradley tote bag to use on the plane:

I'd like to get another tee or two, and also a new pair of shoes to wear in the parks. In the past, I've worn my Mary Jane Crocs but I feel like something different... just need to decide what that is!

Totally love your purchases!

How much was that adorable dress at Target? I want one! :goodvibes

No suggestions on shoes ... I wear flip flops. :lmao:

Oh no - at least she now knows that Swiss Family Robinson is a no go attraction! I take it she will not be riding ToT then, lol!

Love the new purchases! The dresses look great - I would have had trouble choosing between the colours as well! Yay on getting a new VB bag - that sure is a good size to take on the plane :thumbsup2

I've never been on BTMR, but it's on our list of 'must-dos' for this trip. Goofy's Barnstormer was just about the perfect roller coaster for me, so I'm not sure I'll be able to ride it more than once, but I'm gonna give it a try atleast!

The dress was just $20!

What flip-flops do you wear? I'm thinking about getting a pair of Orthaheel Tide flip-flops and seeing how they feel. I've not worn them before, but have read good reviews about them here on the DIS.

Um, no... there will be no ToT, RnR, or Space Mtn for Mom! Oddly enough, she loves Test Track and that one doesn't bother her. I'm hoping we can talk her into going on Soarin'!

The dress also comes in black and a pretty periwinkle color that I liked, but they didn't have that color in my size. Which is probably a good thing, otherwise I would've bought that color, too... then I'd have to decide between 3, LOL!

$20? I'm in! I'll have to swing by and check to see if our Target stocks one!

And ... I just wear cheap flip flops. I got them at Walmart for like $5 back in late 2009 ... I checked, they're OP brand. They've held up soo well, with two WDW trips. Granted, this year, they bothered me - but I think it was because I hadn't worn them a whole lot before the trip. :confused3 Or maybe because it was hotter this year than our April trip. Who knows. But I like them. I also have some expensive Nike memory foam ones ... I tried them in 2009 and last year, and they bothered me soo bad. Because of all the cloth, they'd rub ... rub between the toes, rub around my feet ... and when they got wet, I thought I was done for. :sad1: But yeah, my faves are some cheap OP ones from WM. :lmao::rotfl2:

Cute clothes and VB tote! I just saw that Mickey shirt at ON, I'm so getting that this weekend! I wish it was a V neck though, but oh well, I still like it! :thumbsup2

I just saw a cute dress in Target today that I considered getting for my Artist Point dinner, they have some nice dresses there! :)

I practically live in flip flops during the summer... love the ones from Old Navy, and I think I have just about every color they sell, LOL! But I wouldn't be able to wear those around the parks, not for very long anyway. I suffer from plantar faciitis and after a few hours in thin (cheap) flip flops, my heels are screaming in pain!

I have a pair of Nike flip flops which do have a cushioned foam foot bed and are really comfy, but I still want something different! I've ordered a pair of the Orthaheel ones... we'll see how they work out!

Yeah, I also wish the tee was a v-neck... I think that style is more flattering on me. But the Mickey tee is fine since it's longer than a "regular" tee. Most "regular" tees (ones with just a crewneck) seem to be boxy and just don't look good on me. But the tees from ON seem to be longer and this one looks great! I love it!

Oh, you must give BTMR a try! It's my #2 coaster at WDW (EE is #1, of course!)

EE is waaay too much of a roller coaster for me. I will try BTMR, not sure if I'll make it more than once though! It's on our must-do list with my cousin's family, if I really like it we might head back there on our own when we're back at MK without them.

in just 60 more days! Woohoo! :woohoo:

I've been working on my list of things I need to do/get before my trip:

- new shoes to wear in parks
- new bag for parks DONE
- new tote bag to carry on plane DONE
- haircut & color (well, definitely the color... not sure yet about the cut or if I should just let my hair keep growing out)
- manicure/pedicure
- pack luggage
- buy park tickets DONE
- final check of park hours and itineraries
- new sunglasses

I'm sure there will be more items added to the list as my trip gets closer... 60 days and counting!

I love that dress! I'm sure we'll need to go to Target one more time before our trip, so I will have to look for that dresss!

I only wear my Croc flip flops at Disney. They are so comfy, and the one day that I wore my sneakers because of rain, my feet and legs hurt! I loved the capris flip flops, but then they didn't have them, so last time I got the Crocband flip, in 3 different colors, and love them too. Only had one strap rub me on one side, but that was it out of all 3, just that one flip flop.

I see they have 15% off today, for Crocs birthday.

60 days should go fast, especially with the summer to enjoy!

Wow, sixty days is going to fly by!!!:woohoo:
I'm gonna have to get a list together of things I need to pick up before our trip, but I have a little more time as we have 89 days to go.
I need to find some comfortable footwear to wear as well. Really wanting to go with flip flops of some sort, but not sure. I made the kids wear sneakers and socks everyday on the last trip, but would like to find something cooler (as in temp, not as in the look) and comfortable for them.
