Follow Robo's advice and here is something to consider for your trip after this AKL trip:
Add in Family#2 using First Initial + Middle Names +Your Last Names people.

Book the onsite reservation using these Middle Name People. Link the new set of hoppers to these people.

You'll now have:
Old sets of MBs for non-expiry tickets/people
New set of MBs for hoppers and Middle Name people

You won't have to go to Guest Relations nor check ticket usage for any future trips.

I have 2 1-day PH that I want to use this trip but I also have a non expiring tix that has one day left. I plan to prioritize my tickets and don't want to waste time checking their status at GS. So I'm wondering where this display is exactly?

You don't need to go to GR to check to see if the correct ticket is being used.
Just look down at the readout on the park gate tap-style when you scan your MB and finger upon entry.
The display is right there just past the Mickey Head scanner.
Its not hidden. Just look for the readout display.
The readout will spell out what kind of ticket that has just been "used."
