Anyone have some suggestions for car rental for 4 adults and 3 children, Dec 4-12 (from Orlando airport).

We like National, but have used Alamo once. This is my first experience renting for such a large group (only 5 in past trips).

I've used priceless coupon code and current National code of WWEB and $25 off coupon id #10009795 and get a rate of $344.52 for a Chevy Uplander.

We like having a car to get around WDW and to make trip to Walmart and dinner once or twice.

Just thought I'd put the question out there to you guys and see what your comments are. Thanks.

Would you consider 2 compact cars? Might be cheaper than a Van or SUV.
We travel to WDW about 4 times each year and recommend Hertz or Enterprise.
If you try Hertz, enter discount code CDP# 205418. You don't need a coupon.
Please remember - Walmart buys from overseas suppliers and puts decent Americans out of work or forces them into low paying jobs at WalMart.
Good Luck!!

Thanks for the Hertz code. I'll give it a try.

I did consider two cars, but they are coming up as more money. Also, the rest of our group wants to stay with us. They think we're "pro's". :rotfl:

I see you're DVC SSR owners. We are too. But this will be our first trip staying there.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

We got a deal through Thrifty on a minivan. About $280 on a 7 passenger minvan for Dec 3-11 inclusive.

Go to the main page (Thrifty.com) and use the Great Deals link on the upper right portion of the screen for US East. Then click the little blue "go" link for compact, midsize, minivan at the top of the colum of deals.

Put in the dates, and hopefully you'll get as good a deal as I did.

whacked: thanks for the info. I tried it and my total comes to $333. Maybe with our early pickup and late drop off times we have one more rental day than you? The only other difference I can see is that you pick up on a Saturday and we're on a Sunday. I don't know. :confused3

Anyway, we like the on site rental and for the $11 difference that I'm coming up with, we'll probably stay with National.

btw - I went ahead and got the minivan from National, but I'm going to keep checking the prices. I'll make a change if I something better comes along.

thanks for the helpful comments.

Why aren't you using DME to go to and from Airport with all those people and luggage?
Then you can still pick up the National Car for a portion of your trip at either the Dolphin or the WDW car care center. It would cost you about 6.00 bucks with tip to have one person go grab a cab from OKW to Dolphin (or better, free shuttle from OKW to WDW Car Care on site) I would imagine it is a lot less to rent for a portion of your trip as opposed to the whole time. Of course if you don't want to use the DME, I understand! Just wondering.

Here's some of our reasoning...
We like to be "alone" in our car to and from the parks each day and that's the main reason for having the car for the whole trip. We also like being able to leave the parks on our last day as late as possible and not work around the DME's schedule.

In the past I've checked to see if it's cheaper to rent at WDW verses the airport and there hasn't been a difference. Yes, we'd save some money if we knocked off a couple of days (and just rent for 1 week), but our group just doesn't want to do that.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. It would definitely be a way to save some money. I think I'll just keep trying to get the best rate on what we want.
