4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

have been talking to a few of my friends on the ship....they are having a blast...and the weather has gotten chilly....but that is because we are from florida...so anything under 75 is chilly...lol...but a few larger waves...but thats about it....everything else...is running smooth...and oh...the airports are open...hurray...

Good Morning from (sunny???) Kansas City...not to sunny at 5:30 in the morning. DS and I are off to the airport, 8 am flight to Dallas, 10:40 flight to JFK, and then 6:25 to BCN. Everything shows on time....See you all on Saturday! Or Thursday / Friday, depending on what the fountain / port plans are.

Have a great time Lara! It's not looking great for us -- I think our flight has once again been canceled and it's breaking my heart, but I think we're gonna be throwing in the towel and giving up. That's two different flights we've had and they both canceled.

TO those of you that are now traveling or are going to be traveling to Spain good luck and have a great time. Please have a toast for those families that will not be able to make it in time.

Thanks for all the advice along the way with planning this trip. Take lots of pictures and I expect to see many trip reports. I will have to be satisfied with reading about all your advantures.

I'm very disappointed but have to keep reminding myself that it is only a trip and there will be others.

It's early, and I am tired, but I REALLY dislike traveling American Airlines without my DH. They will not recognize his Exec Plat status, if he is not with me, unlike United. My flight to BCN is on "held" status. The agents say that there could be several reasons for that, plane change, late arrival, or other. It just means the gate agent wants control of seating. I have two seats, and I am not giving them up. Going to take a nap on the first flight, so my next post will be much nicer!

Lubi-- I really hope you can make it over, let us know what your final decision is.

Well, for one last chuckle I jumped onto the Aer Lingus web site and they have availability for Friday so we have now booked with them. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed that the skies will stay open.

Just want to know if anyone else will be bringing a pile of homework to do on the cruise.

Our school is forcing us to sign an independent study contract for both kids. the 3rd grader has a PILE but thankfully we have a 10 hour flight to London so he should be able to get through a lot of it. I have decided not to send him to school until Monday the 8th so he can finish up what he needs to when we get back.

Fingers still crossed that we will get there. I only started packing at 6 pm last night. kids are done but I have to get started on me.

Have a great time Lara! It's not looking great for us -- I think our flight has once again been canceled and it's breaking my heart, but I think we're gonna be throwing in the towel and giving up. That's two different flights we've had and they both canceled.

I hope you find something. With more flights operating I'm holding out hope for you.

What about joining cruise in at a different port like we are? We are joining in Naples and have a flight into Rome. We are still watching to see if we can find something into Barcelona by Friday on American (though I'm not holding my breath that this will happen for us).

While I'm disappointed we are missing Tunisia and Malta, my family would rather join in Naples vs miss so was a compromise for us. And I still nervous about what we are doing that it might go arie but wasn't sure if another option for you to consider. I know its not the same as joining as planned/scheduled.

What I had recalled was Saturday at 3PM in Promenade Lounge for Disboard Meet and Greet. I remember seeing a graphic advertisizing this that one our creative cruisers created.

Hi everyone,

Just want to let you all know that we're confirmed for our reception on May 1st (2nd sea day) at 2pm. I'm still waiting to hear back on the location (I'm almost positive it will be Rockin' Bar D, but not positive). Right now we have 61 people signed up (44 adults, 17 kids). I'll be sending an email to everyone in the next few days to confirm that I received your RSVP. We'll be serving light snacks and a cash bar will be available as well.

Can't believe this cruise is only 17 days away!!!

I just went back to April 18 and couldn't find it. (page 160). I could have missed it. Will go further back later and will post if I find it. Still not sure about my flight.

Aer Lingus has flights available!

Washington Dulles to Madrid Friday. Non-stop $1584.00 per person.

This is based on a round trip, leaving Friday, arriving 7:45 Saturday morning. Returning May 6th. If you can find ground transportation from Madrid, this might work!

Well - once again don't count us down and out -- our rollercoaster ride ain't over yet. Our flight is currently showing as delayed. We called JetAirways this morning and the CS rep indicated that on his system it's showing on time. So, we're headed out the door to JFK in about 45 minutes - OMG!!! Our flight could be leaving anytime between it's scheduled departure at 6:10 or the 3:30 am estimated delayed departure. At this point - whatever - HOPEFULLY this is the last time I can say we may be coming! I hope the next post I make is either from JFK that says we're boarding or from Barcelona to say "we're here!" To all who are traveling today and in the next few days -- safe travels and see you in Barcelona!!! (I hope )
