4/20/2008, April 20, 2008 - Anyone with us?

As for bathing suits, I am going to order mine through LL Bean. They have some really nice looking suits for a great price.

They do have cute suits, but I've never ordered clothing out of a catalog. How do you know what size? On the plus side it would avoid me having to try on suits under horrible dressing room lights!

Have you tried looking at the suits at Landsend.com? I think they have even a better selection of suits and just as good quality. Regarding size? They explain it very well what to do to measure yourself to get the correct size.

For all the first time DCL cruisers....... today is the 75 day mark (but you probably already knew that because you had to be paid in full by today).

Just a reminder.........

Hello to all!!!
Just want to say that my family and I came off our first Disney cruise two weeks ago on the Wonder.:thumbsup2 Because of that experience, we're going back for the 4-night cruise on April 20. We'll be at SSR for two days before and after the cruise. HOpe to meet everyone.

Hello hello hello

I am a first time cruiser, and we are booked for this sail date as well.

My name is Joanne, and I will be sailing with my Husband, Son (8), Father in Law, Niece, and Mother.

We are flying into MCO in the 18th and staying 2 nights at the AKL in a Savannah View room prior to the cruise.

I only got through about 3 pages of this thread, and then jumped to the last page so I can post.

I just reserved a seating for Palo for the 20th (my 12th wedding anniversary), and registered my son Harrison for the Oceaneers Lab - other than that I am up in the air on what to do for excursions. (also booked my DH on the SCUBA excursion in Nassau)

Has anyone here done the Castaway Cay Cabana Massage?? I am wondering if it is something my body can tolerate. I am very sensitive to touch, and fear that I will be in pain instead of bliss - lol - if anyone here has used that service, or can maybe recommend something I would greatly appreciate it.

Other than that - I am getting excited!!!

Any and all advice is welcome - Lord knows I have about a million questions...

Welcome! You caught the "bug" LOL! I have a DS who will be 12 in June. This will be his 3rd Disney Cruise.

We are having a little meet on the ship Sunday April 20 @3PM in the promendade lounge. It will give the kids a chance to recognize each other in the kids club, ect.

Hi Joanne! Ak away. A few of us are seasoned Disney cruisers. I can tell you, I had the massage in the vista spa, and I am also sensitive to touch. It HURT. I even explained how sesitive I was, it still hurt. I had tears.

The cabana massages may be of a more relaxing massage, I have never had one under the cabana. Hopefully, someone else can answer for you.

That's what I was afraid of. Sorry to hear that something that should have been relaxing for you turned out to be painful.

I did some more looking around in the spa choices, and I saw the choice for the Exotic Rasul. From the description it gave, it sounds like I could dig that so I booked it.

I have gotten so much information from these Cruise Line boards so far. One other question I have is what will be some necessary clothing items to be packed (aside from the obvious) - for instance, formal wear. Just how formal do people get, and how often? I heard there is a Pirates party on board also, when does that usually take place - and how much do people really get into that?? Would I look ridiculous dressed as the Red Head Wench?? LOL

Dinner rotations - I believe we booked ourselves for the earlier seating - what time does that usually occur? Can I find out the restaurant rotation ahead of time? I have a dinner at Palo booked for the 20th (my anniversary) and would hate to miss out on dining at Animators Palate...

Thanks for reading my ramble... I am sure I will have many many more questions to come as I think of them.

Joanne

Hi Joanne,

Welcome aboard!!

I'll chime in on your questions......

Formal wear..... on the 3 and 4 night cruises, there is no "formal night". There is a "dress up" night on Monday and Pirate night is Tuesday. On dress up night some people get really dressed up, others don't. You will see everything from jeans to suits/tuxes that night. The only dress code they usually enforce, in the dining rooms, is no shorts at dinner. As for Pirate night, I have seen people really get into it...... matching outfits for the family, etc. As long as your "Red Head Wench" outfit is tasteful, you'll fit right in.

There are three different seating times for both early and late seating. Early seating is either 5:30, 5:45 or 6:00, depending on your rotation. There is no way to find out your dining rotation prior to checking in. It will be printed on your KTTW card, along with your table number. There is one rotation (5:45) that starts in Animators. I suggest arriving at the port early (it opens at 10:00) so you can board early and go to Wavebands (Deck 3 forward) to get your rotation changed, if you end up with that one.

If you haven't done so already, you might want to go through the FAQ post on the main cruise board. There is a lot of great info there, and links to copies of Navigators, Menus, etc.

If there's anything else we can help with, just ask away!

Ed

:thumbsup2 Thanks Ed - you rock!!

I will head over to the FAQ page - I have a feeling my eyes will be burning by later tonight from all the reading!!

LOL

Oh - one other question... As I was browsing through this thread, I saw some families with kids around my son's age (8)... I also saw something about a meet at 3pm, but I am unsure where that will be. I would love to be able to introduce my son Harrison to some other kids that he will be in the lab with... BTW - he also travels with his DS, he will be sooooo excited!!

Joanne,

We're planning on a quick meet at the Promenade Lounge, deck 3 mid-ship, port (left) side.

Ed

Welcome libdoor!

Dizpinfriend - I had a massage in the Vista spa last time I cruised and found it to be a little uncomfortable, but not too bad. I'm pretty sensitive to my back being rubbed, but I felt like a wuss telling the lady it hurt to I just sucked it up!

Awesome - I shall try to be there!! I told my son about it, and he is looking forward to it!!!

Thanks for the confirmation. I think I am gonna pass on it - would hate to pay so much for something I did not fully enjoy. I'm glad I thought to ask before booking.

I Can't Wait!!!!!!

It will be our first cruise. We are a family of five ... 3 girls ages 9, 13 and 15, dh and myself. Originally we had a Family Suite booked in November '07 but dd 15 had PSATs and Regents and was nervous about missing school and such, so we cancelled. Same dd was then accepted to do a 2 week program in Spain during one of the breaks -- we weren't sure which break so we didn't bother rescheduling. At that time I was not sure when we'd be able to cruise at all and was totally bummed! Turns out the trip to Spain is in February (she lives in five days) and I booked our DCL trip as soon as I saved up enough pennies!!!

Sooooo, there's the story of how we came to be on this lovely cruise with all of you!! Now we just have to keep it a secret from the kids until then! We want to totally blow their socks off and surprise them - we've done it before with trips to WDW and they swore we'd never be able to fool them again ... they don't know me very well!

When asked where they wanted to go on vacation they said Disney, so I figure we will drive down and then pull up to the ship and say something to the effect of "Well you said DISNEY, you didn't say Disney WORLD, so here ya go!" Or something corny like that! Any thoughts on surprising them? Any other ideas? I have a stash of stuff I want to sneak into the room with before they get there too -- we always do that at the resorts, so on a ship it should be interesting!

So excited I just rambled on and on and on and took you all along for the ride! Aren't ya glad I hopped on board!!
:dance3:

Welcome aboard to libdoor and StinkerbellsMom!!

Our little group keeps growing, the closer we get to sailing. Should be a great cruise!!

Ed

Hi stinkerbellsmom this is our first cruise too. My DH and I have one DD she is 12.

She and some of the others will be meeting at the prominade lounge at 3:00. Hope you can be there. If your kids are Nintendo DS fans have them bring them also.

Bumping off of page 3.

I completed the online check in the other day. We are getting CLOSER!:cool1:
