We are scheduled on the DCL excursion and may consider taking the train on our own. The only reason I would consider it (with our family of small ones) is that we don't have to be back on the Magic until 10:30 PM. Plenty of time to get back...

Any idea on how long the train ride is one-way? I think the DCL excursion is about a 2 hour bus ride each way. We too have little ones so I'm worried they may be bored, but a train ride might be a bit more interesting/exciting.

Some information I found on CruiseCritic about taking the train from Cadiz to Seville:

Getting There: Easiest way is to take the train. From Cadiz, the station, just off the Plaza de Sevilla, is a 15 minute walk (basically on the other side of the port). Allow 1.5 - 1.75 hours for the journey between Cadiz and Seville and, for cruise travelers whose time in port is on the usual 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. schedule, the 9 a.m. or 10:05 a.m. (subject to change; check timetable at www.renfe.es before you go) are the best bets. From Seville, there's a 1:58 and 3:25 p.m. return.

I checked the www.renfe.es website, and assuming I used it correctly (no spanish understanding whatsoever). Looks like there is only 1 train to Seville on 4/20 in the morning leaving at 8:05 AM. It's cutting it close with a port docking time of 7:30 AM.

There are only 2 trips returning - departs Seville at either 12:50 or 6:58 (arrives in Cadiz at 8:44 PM).

These times don't seem to ideal to try and do Seville on our own. May need to reconsider other options then or staying in Cadiz.

All of you Philly people are going to LOVE my FE gift!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I bet I can guess what it is!!! Do I win an extra prize if I'm right?? I won't spoil it though.

Yeah, that is disappointing...I was hoping that there would be a little more diversity with the trains.....that is pushing it kind of close in the morning...

Hey, Krisann, what kind of author are you? I'm a personal historian myself. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity - Ann

I write about getting organized for Christmas - I am doing a series of books and I have one done and 4 more to go.

Ok, I must be off a week because I thought we had 9 weeks if we were going down a few days before. Note to self, check calendar :)

Momentous occasion getting the learners permit. My dd will be 16 soon and still doesn't have hers (we made ours all wait til almost 17 to drive). So don't let your dd tell my dd she has her permit, mine will be envious.

great that is even worse - you are right - I leave in ust 64 days = now I have lost a week!

Krisann

Yeah, slow week. Wait until Lynne returns.

Woody

Ha ha.

That's right; just wait until I give up this one finger touchpad for my 60+ wpm blazing speed typing on a real keyboard and full-size screen which allows me to quote & multi-quote!

Since the WiFi does not reach the condo, I have had to resort to a poolside location for this internet connection.

Tomorrow we head back across the island (Big Island - Hawaii) for a mule-pulled wagon ride in Waipio Valley.

Happy Groundhog Day everyone.

We are doing the train to Seville on or own too. Same reason. Even if we aim to get back 2 hours early, that is still more time than on the DCL tour and we can explore at our own pace.

Tried to edit this, but failed. Seeing kumquat88's append, I have to rethink the plan maybe.

Well, on the bright side, you are that much closer to vacation!

I was a very light sleeper and got up frequently during the night until 5 years ago when we purchased a Phillip Stein watch. Now with wearing the watch 24/7 I sleep through the night no problem.
I've heard very good things about Philip Stein watches.

Thanks for looking up this info. Guess it's a good thing we have it booked with DCL. Will stick with the original plan. My kids can entertain your kids on the DCL bus. :)

Hi Kim - philly area here too... closer to lancaster ...but I will fly out of philly ....welcome back....

WOW! Lots of tri staters on this cruise. We should all post something on our cabin doors to identify ourselves!

We are in DE, you know that itty bitty place of tax free shopping everyone enjoys so much that we stole from William Penn? :rotfl:

Steven wanted me to tell you that when his eyes are closed it is pitch black as well. :rotfl2: I was a very light sleeper and got up frequently during the night until 5 years ago when we purchased a Phillip Stein watch. Now with wearing the watch 24/7 I sleep through the night no problem.

gonna have to google up that one? a watch helps you sleep? Okay??!!

Yeah, Steve and my DH should get along just fine!

We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza the past several times as it is 1 mile outside of MCO airport with free shuttle. So we will take shuttle back to airport early Saturday to board the transportation to the port. There are alot of disers staying at the Country Inn they seem to have gotten a good rack rate via priceline.com. I think it was like $61 with tax and I believe this was in Port Canaveral.:goodvibes

I know! I keep hearing about all the great priceline deals for CI&S but I have never used priceline and am worried I would flub it up. Didn't even try last time because I needed accomadations for family of 6 and did hear priceline does not guarantee that or there was some trouble with that. Anywho, it is a very nice, very clean place which is the way I want to start my vacation so I will just bite the un-priceline like price and try not to worry about it.

The shuttle service was excellent from there as well.

Welcome Back!:cheer2:

What part of Philly are you near? We are in Montgomery County about 45 minutes outside center city.

We're in Delaware cty. Leaving Sat am using Disney-booked air....little nervous about leaving phila on the same day, but at least it's Disney's responsibility to get us there!!

Looking forward to meeting you!

Kim

Welcome! from one Kim to another!
