Brooklyn, if you are comfortable w/ it, it's very easy to do Rome on your own from Civitavecchia (we've done it before.) It will involve a lot of train/metro, but you sound like you can handle it!

Stephanie, the train to Rome is easy to do. Rick Steves' guidebook has good useful information.

No I did not,: I have this un-natural fear of falling 10 decks into the cold Atlantic waters. And while I can swim that just sounds like a bad thing.


SOOO I thought maybe just two boards. Both with the number 10 on it.
A. We would be safer
B. We could hide our faces behind them while we TALK about them. (verbal Scoring method)
C. If we need to get there attention we can always whistle, throw ice, banannas, Chipmunks or something.

Will just do the HOHO in Cadiz also. Like the idea of sitting in a plaza and people watching (after seeing the cathedral).

We had an entertaining and amusing time sitting in a plaza in Cadiz, having some refreshments at an outdoor cafe.

The plaza had a sign "No ball playing." There were kids playing ball, while their mothers sat around catching up on the day's gossip. One kid had a GameBoy, and six kids sat next to him mesmerized by the screen. It was a beautiful slice of life.

You might want to see if they are offering an evening concert when you will be there. We did not find out about them until we arrived.

It is beautiful, but take the horse cart up - you will thank me. It was a fun ride and I enjoyed being able to sit back and look at the scenery. Walking back down will be easier than walking up.

Is DCL aware of your plan? I mentioned it the other day and they said it wasn't an option. If the 9:20 flight was going to be a problem, dh said we'd just get off the ship on Friday so I mentioned that option since they kept suggesting that I change my flight plans. I don't see why it would be a problem. People do get on and off at all the ports. It's funny because every CM says something different.

Although the ship will be cleared on Friday as a port day, the passport and customs officials might not yet be set up for disembarkation (swiping your passport).

I would love to but we are doing it as a tour from Munich so it will all depend on them. We are spending Sunday in Munich if anyone has any suggestions of what to do for that day before we fly out.

What else does your tour include?

We went on a tour from Munich. We also stopped at Linderhof (a King Ludwig palace) and Oberammagau (where the passion play is performed every ten years -- including 2010!).

Are you keeping your current flight?? I am a little worried now that DCL will not let us off to catch our plane.

We are still on the 9:20 and I am finally not as stressed. The last conversation I had with Concierge, they weren't as insistent on us changing our flight. Probably because they have booked a 10AM.

Anyway we had them put a special note on our reservation and we are suppose to go right to Guest Services as soon as we get onboard so that we can get it all arranged.

Sounds great! They also told us to remind Concierge of our early flight.

It was a beautiful slice of life.

Looking good; I have an FE but really want a new one that is a Mickey theme; my old one i purchased when I was a newbie is Tink. I also like the idea of personalizing it; less likely to walk away. We use zip tags and really tie it down.

I too want new ones. DH thinks the ones we have are just fine but I want a new and personalized one! I did personalize ours with iron-ons but I like the embrodiered ones.

DH suggested bringing it this time and then throw them away at the end of the cruise and buy new ones for the next cruise! I guess it will make more room for all my purchases!

We are painting. This empty nesting thing is quite an adjustment. I should be excited to have a bedroom to make into a scrapbook/office/disney room. Need to decorate with all my Ariel pins which are all on a bulletin board. Tony's goofy collection is overflowing in the closet. Hoping they have cool pins on the TA/Med.

Where are you guys staying Thursday night? We are staying at the Sheraton Suites at the airport. We got it for $35 on priceline. We bought it though when we did not think we were going to Epcot the next day. There is a Super Target close by though that we are going to go to that night to stock up on cases or water and other items.
