Saturday 2nd June
The end is here, our last day before our flight tonight. I packed up our bags then we had a final breakfast at the hotel, checked out and then drove to a few places we'd not yet seen.We drove off Coronado the other way which is longer and is how the "island" is joined to the mainland and went to the USS Midway then to Point Lomas for a look around, including a new and old lighthouse.
We tried to go and see the tide pools here but the car park was full so we had to set off for our next destination. We got slightly lost on the way which turned out to be a good thing as we saw this street sign...
As our surname is not very common its not something we see often so we were excited to see it. Next up was the old town were we got some lunch, I wish we had longer to spend here as it was very cute if a bit touristy. DH got lasagne for lunch and I went for ravioli both came with a free salad and we had a quick look round.
It was then time to take our car back, we arrived just in time to help another family who wanted a SUV but they were all out, and we hoped on the shuttle back to the airport. We checked in, went through immigration and security all in record time meaning we had loads of time to kill at the airport and there was nothing to do as it was very small but the time actually passed quite quickly first reading my kindle then listening to my ipod and a quick trip to the shop for some last minute bits. We boarded the plane to find it was 3/3/3 seat formation and we had 2 seats in the middle 3. It was very cold on the plane, even Mike thought so, so the blankets went on straight away. We both got chicken curry again and watched some films and TV programmes. I watched This Means War which was ok quite good to watch on the plane as wasn't taxing. Mike watched 21 Jump Street and was laughing out loud so he liked it. We both tried to sleep for a bit, I got a few hours but didn't feel rested, the sleep I got on the way out was better. Mike didn't get much sleep, a woman near him was tapping away at her laptop, he asked her to stop but she refused saying it was important, he reminded her that it was 1am but she continued anyway. Breakfast was a cranberry and orange muffin loaf, a breakfast nuggart, a box of raisons, one of those bacteria healthy drinks and a giant polo, I thought the crew woke us up very early and could have let us sleep longer as after we ate we still had ages before we landed. When we did land it was slightly early, were straight through immigration, our cases came off quickly and my Dad was there to pick us up.
THE END
Thanks to everyone who has read an commented, this will probably be my last TR for a while as we are buying a bigger house so all our money will be going on DIY and furniture for the foreseeable future. I'll be doing one further post with reviews, hints and tips etc as I know a few of you are planning Alaskan adventures next year, after I post that feel free to ask any questions.
