3 Years in the Making: Our return to WDW...with diapers! SAD NEWS 7/1 page 41

So when I last updated many, many moons ago (again, sorry), we had just finished dinner at Pecos Bill. After that we headed towards Adventureland.....

....in search of a twilight Jungle Cruise!

DSC08670.jpg

I don't remember what the standby was but this was probably the longest wait we had (for a ride....our longest wait for a character would be the next day). I think we waited like 20 minutes. At this point Seth wasn't walking on his own yet - he was close but not quite. So I couldn't just put him down. And of course there's no strollers in the queues. So Ray and I had to trade him back and forth. And he's not light - he's 29.5 pounds now so back then I'm guessing somewhere around 25 pounds. And he wiggles! No fun for the carrier! And to top that off he kept playing with our faces, but not gently, like poking us in the eye or smacking our cheek. He didn't know he was hurting us but he kept doing it and we were half laughing and half crying and everyone around us was cracking up. Stinker!

The other side of the queue....empty!

We still had a little over an hour before Wishes, so it was time to shop! Seth and Ray took pictures of the window displays while I shopped. :)

We decided to head to Tomorrowland to take one last relaxing ride on the Peoplemover before Wishes started....

Some video on the Peoplemover....

Seth loved looking at everything during the ride!

After that we got a spot on the Tomorrowland Bridge for Wishes. I didn't take any pics of the Memories show b/c I was holding Seth during that so he could see it and Ray had gone to get something to drink. Then I put him back in his stroller for Wishes and sat on the ground next to him (in case he got scared) while Ray took pics. Again, no tripod b/c it was back home in Georgia. Still upset about that! :headache:

There goes Tink!

Seth was so so sleepy so we headed out after Wishes. Bye, Mr. Disney Jack O Lantern!

DSC09098.jpg

We had parked at the Contemporary so as we were walking over there we saw this bus pulling up. It's hard to see but the destination said, "Timon and Pumbaa"....no idea where that resort is located!?!!!??? :rotfl:

IMG_2531.jpg

It had been a wonderful, magical day at the Magic Kingdom! Probably my favorite day of the trip. :)

Next update....cheaper food and less people at EPCOT. And as an added bonus...our first blow-out of the trip! (You knew there would be some pooh: involved in a trip report with the word "diapers" in the title, right??? :rotfl2: )

The fireworks pictures turned out great.

I love Disney at night, it just seems more magicial with all the lights.:goodvibes

I'm not really a big fan of Tomorrowland as a whole, but I do love to see it all lit up at night. It's very cool.

Except in June and July. Then it's very cool in a burning hot kind of way. :upsidedow

I'm glad to see that Seth enjoyed the fireworks. He looked so sweet smiling at them. Some little ones cry, and although it is understandable that makes it tough for everyone if you have to leave. Our girls have never cried over them, but Brooklynn tends to put her hands over her ears, as she's not crazy about the noise.

Adventureland in the twilight, a nighttime Jungle Cruise, and Wishes -- some of my favorite things!

I love Seth's little face while he watches the fireworks!

Nighttime Jungle Cruises are the best! I agree that its tough holding a wiggly kid in a long line (its also tough corralling a rambunctious toddler), so we don't do many waits.

I'm so glad Seth enjoyed the fireworks! Its really great that he wasn't scared of the noise. Everett adores the fireworks also, which I am really happy about, since fireworks are one of my favorite parts of Disney.

Hi Dawn!

Great update. I loved all the firework pictures, I am hoping we can make it through Wishes next month with Ava. She can sleep though some things (dog barking, thunder) but other things will wake/startle her (dad coughing, tearing paper). We will just have to wing it.

I am debating on whether or not I should plan to "wear" Ava through parts of our trip...we will have the stroller and she isn't terribly heavy yet but it might just be easier on DH and I to use the infantio for waiting in lines.

I'll bet the Timon & Pumba bus was a cast member bus...

I love the parks at night. I think it's my favorite time. I don't think I've ever been on a nighttime jungle cruise either. I'll have to add that to the list of things to do :)

All caught up. :goodvibes

MK at night is so magical. The jungle cruise wait was a hard one I know. Not much in that queue to look at.

Seth looks so happy watching Wishes.

How precious that Seth really liked the fireworks. He's got the Disney fever already it seems! :goodvibes

Hmmmmm.... they have a Timon & Pumba parking lot at DL, but that would be a REALLY long bus ride!:rotfl::rotfl:

Glad your back and sharing your trip again. Yes, life does get crazy busy, and even when your kids are older and independent, it doesn't get any less crazy!

So glad Seth enjoyed Wishes so much!!

I'll never forget an epic blowout we had on the Carrousel. Up.the.back - new outfit STAT-type. Wooooo, it was baaaaad! :lmao:

Riding the Peoplemover after dark was lots of fun and I think Seth enjoyed seeing everything all lit up.

I hope he's okay with them next year. I think they get more scared of the noise the older they get, and then they figure out they're fun and not dangerous. He'll be 2.5 then. We get to practice with him in July when our neighbors spend like $3,000 on fireworks for the 4th, but since we're going in May next year it will be awhile between 4th of July of 2012 and May of 2013. So we'll just keep our fingers crossed!

Me too! :goodvibes I hope he continues to like them!

Yeah, we quickly learned that not much of anything was worth more than a 20-minute wait! Luckily we are able to go during non-peak times so that's not usually a huge problem.

I hope Seth continues to enjoy the fireworks. He'll be 2.5 when we go next, so who knows how he'll feel about them at that point. My neighbors spend LOTS of money on fireworks for the 4th of July, so he'll get to see those this year. But then we're not going back to Disney until May of next year, so there will be a big gap there.

Thanks! She'll probably be fine. If she starts crying just duck into a store somewhere and she'll be fine, I'm sure. When we went in October Seth was too big for his Bjorn, which he loved when he was smaller. I have an Ergo carrier too, but he doesn't really like it b/c you can't face outwards. So we didn't use it at all at Disney (even though I brought it). But for little ones I think it's a must-have and you'll probably end up wearing her a good bit!

I love the parks at night. I think it's my favorite time. I don't think I've ever been on a nighttime jungle cruise either. I'll have to add that to the list of things to do :)

Me too! We used to try to spend most of our time in the parks at night, but now with Seth that just doesn't happen.

All caught up. :goodvibes

I know...love it! I hope he likes the fireworks when he's there next time. He'll be 2.5 then and things could very well change at that point!

I LOVE this picture!! I'm gonna have to find this display and take some pictures. It would look cute as a facebook picture!

You're right...it would! I love it too. :)

How precious that Seth really liked the fireworks. He's got the Disney fever already it seems! :goodvibes

I hope so! So glad they didn't freak him out!

Me too! I was pretty sure he'd like them but was just waiting on him to start screaming. Ewwww....on the blowout! But I think every parent has been there!

Yep, long ride indeed! :rotfl:

Seth is so cute in those pictures. It looks like such a fun day.

So, I'm planning my "most likely won't happen trip" next February (even though I keep saying we're going to wait until we're done with kids and they're a bit older...) Anyway, if you were going to skip a park, which would it be: AK or DHS? I'm tempted to say AK, but Abbie does love animals. I think she'd also enjoy the Disney Junior stuff and street performers at DHS though, so I go back and forth. (I have two imaginary agendas planned out; one has us doing MK twice and skipping a park, and the other has us doing MK once and doing all parks. No park hopper.) Abbie would be almost 2 1/2 then.

Hi Dawn! Loved the update! JC is so cool at night. I love to see Seth's reaction to the fireworks - he is so expressive! Cute when he's sleeping, too :goodvibes

I'm going next year with my mom and we only have time for 3 days at WDW (we're doing a 4th day at Islands of Adventure/Harry Potter). We'll definitely be taking a day each for MK and EPCOT. I was thinking about getting a park hopper and doing AK in the morning and DHS in the afternoon/evening on our 3rd day. But I think I've decided to save the $55 and just skip AK. My thought on it is we have a zoo here I can go to any time. Not that AK is a zoo, but to Seth it's not that different. And DHS has the Disney Junior show, Toy Story Mania and some shows he'd love, plus the Pixar Parade. And at AK the only thing he'll really miss is FotLK and I don't know that that's worth the stress of going to an extra park. Plus no park hopping will make things much less hectic, and I've quickly learned that the less running around we have to do with a toddler, the better. So that's my 2 cents. :)

Thanks! I love Jungle Cruise at night...seems spookier (but still super cheesy). And yes, Seth is the cutest when he's sleeping!

I love it when the little ones enjoy the fireworks! True Diser!

Me too! I hope he continues to enjoy them. :goodvibes

Okay, on to day 6 of our vacation. Only 1 more full day left after this one! :sad1:

On this day, Wednesday, October 5th, Seth and I got up and had breakfast on the balcony while we let Daddy sleep in. Here's my view on that beautiful day...

IMG_2532.jpg

Looking down...

IMG_2533.jpg

We were near a laundry-gathering area and the truck was there picking up laundry, so Seth was entertained watching that while I sipped on my coffee and read.

Once Daddy was up, we got ready and took the bus to EPCOT for a little more Food & Wine Festival fun! We saw this chick as we were walking in. No way would I be wearing those to an amusement park for the day!!! :scared1:

We pretty much headed straight for World Showcase to see if the crowds had died down from Saturday. On the way....

DSC00007.jpg

Again, loved the cranberry bog....

DSC00008.jpg

DSC00012.jpg

DSC00014.jpg

Not only had the lines died down, but the prices had too! We discovered that most things were generally $1-$3 cheaper on Wednesday than they were on Saturday. Very sneaky, Disney!!! :tiptoe:

The line for the Hawaii booth was crazy on Saturday, so that was our first stop to get this baby....

IMG_2540.jpg

It's the Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise. So good! And I'm not a mayonnaise girl but this was yummy. (Ignore my gum on the side of the plate. :rolleyes1)

I had to meet Tammy, a fellow Diser, because she was doing a photopass share with my stepbrother, who was arriving at WDW the next week and I had his money to pay his portion for her. She and I talk on FB too, so it was so nice to meet her! :goodvibes We visited for a minute near Mexico but we forgot to take a picture together. :headache: Oh, and Seth fell asleep while we were waiting to meet her, so she didn't get to officially meet him. I think there's something about arriving at a park that just does him in! :confused3

We made our way through WS while enjoying our slider. I believe I stopped in China and got another Peach Snap (my favorite) and Ray took some pictures of the trains in Germany....

DSC00016.jpg

DSC00023.jpg

We decided to stop for a break in Italy (so we could get more food!). We got this....

IMG_2541.jpg

It's Ravioli Di Formaggio all’Emiliana (Baked Cheese Ravioli with Creamy Beef Bolognese Sauce, Parmesan Cheese, and Melted Mozzarella). OMG....sooooo good!

This was my view as I ate my yummy ravioli (and Seth slept)....

IMG_2542.jpg

Ray went on a picture tour of Italy while I sat with Seth (and ate)....
