3-day Wonder (3/13-16) - more info than you can possibly stand!

Hi Dreamfinder2,

Wow, Your trip report is the bees knees! Me and my family doing 3 day cruise in August, and as if I wasn't excited enough I really really can't wait now!

There's me, DH, DD 10 & DD 6, oh and the DD's don't know they're going! Can't wait to see what they do when we arrive at Port Canaveral. Still have to think of some wild excuse while we've gone there to prolong the secret!

Anyhoo, just thought I'd let you know how much I enjoyed reading about your trip, can't wait for that sunrise!!:thumbsup2

You can always say you're going to some of the best beaches in the state, or going to Kennedy, or you could just say "It's a surprise!"

Thanks for your kind words.

I love your trip report and can't wait to read more. We will be sailing on the Wonder for 3 nights in May. It's our first Disney cruise so I love all your details.

One more thing.....I fight back the tears just reading about your emotional moments.;) I'm so glad there are other Disney fans as emotionally invested as I am.

We too are going on our first disney cruise for 3 nights in May-what date are you sailing?

Love the report-can't wait for more!

We have been on 5 cruises now but I cant recall on the Wonder do they have Paninis at Goofy Galley out by the pool deck like they do on the Magic. Or just fruit?
Thanks for any info. Love those

They did/do indeed have paninis. Actually, Goofy's Galley has a wide assortment of goodies - in addition to the paninis and fruit, they had some wrap sandwiches which made for great tide-me-over snacks before the evening show and late seating dinner. Maybe some cookies, too.

Ok yea wonderful, yes those are great for lunch and snacks. Thanks for the info

Oh wow! In just about 2 weeks, we'll be on our first cruise ever and our first trip home to AKV. I just spent the entire evening reading your TR from start to finish, and now my 13-year-old son wants to know why I'm crying. It was SO helpful -- yes, we are now certainly going into Nassau to the fort, etc.

I just KNEW where you were from in your first post. It must have been the food talk. We weren't born in Mississippi, but we got here as fast we could. We love raising our family here. I take great comfort in the fact that there's another Disney family driving around town whos feel like we do! Your wife looks so familiar to me -- I bet our paths have crossed somewhere.

Thanks so much, Dreamfinder2! :goodvibes

Yes, we are a rare breed. I have friends here who are DVCers, but don't post/read here. Sometimes, I see a vehicle running around town with a Mickey Mouse on its antennae. Is that you???

Back 'atcha on the PM!

Thanks for the great report! We'll be on our first cruise this September and are probably going to try the walking tour of Nassau that you suggested. :thumbsup2

I know that not everyone is a history buff like me, but there are some things worth doing "just to say you did." I heartily recommend at least putting your feet on dry ground in every port, especially if you've never visited them before. Nassau does have an intriguing history.

My husband and I are taking a 4 night cruise for our 10 yr. ann. in June. We are having trouble deciding what to do in Naussa. We like to snorkel and have never seen Atlantis or anything in Naussa before. This will be our first vacation with out children. We have 4 kids 8 and under. We would also like to just relax on the beach. Any recommendations?
PS Loved your trip report.

OK ...

I don't think there is a beach in Nassau that compares with the beach at Castaway Cay. I'd save my beach experiences for CC, and not try to track down a beach in Nassau, or on Paradise Island (where Atlantis is.)

Second, since y'all like to snorkel, I'd go with one of the snorkel excursions in Nassau. The one I mentioned in this report was just fine.

Atlantis? It is a spectacular resort, but there are plenty of resorts just as spectacular stateside. It's going to be a matter of taste ... if you want more "local" flavor, stay in Nassau proper, and either do a walking tour or perhaps a carriage tour in the morning, have lunch on the ship, and snorkel that afternoon. If you want to check out Atlantis, I'd be more inclined to do that in the morning, too, either on your own or through Disney.

I think you'll have to pick two out of the three options (Atlantis? Snorkel? Sightsee in town?) I just don't think you'll have time for it all. Personally, I'd forego Atlantis, but that's just me, and don't let anyone try to convince you of the "rightness" or "wrongness" of your choice. No one's opinion on here is holy writ. Some folks just don't like Nassau, but that is totally subjective ... don't let anyone convince you that "you'll just love Nassau" or, conversely, "you'll hate Nassau." We're all hard-wired just a little different, y'know?

Have some fun for me!

Thank you so much for your help!! I realized how much we missed on our last cruise trying to keep up with 4 young children from reading your cruise report.

Thanks, Dreamfinder2 again for your continued help in trip planning. I'm sure lots of us will be thinking of you when we all drag ourselves out bed to see that sunset!

Take care --
Shellybird
PS -- You have a PM

I know I was late to this party, but this has to be the best TR ever!! I didn't have time to read all 15 pages of comments, but I did read every word of your TRs! Tears, my man, TEARS!

Ok, so my question of the moment (and there will be more) is, what kind of purses and prices did you encounter at the Straw Market? I don't know if we'll be able to do all the walking you did, since we want to spend at least the first half of the day at the pool, enjoying the ship, but I was looking into some fakey purses.

We leave in about 18 days, so I'm counting down!

LOVED your trip report! I am booking a three night for this December to celebrate one year post breast cancer and was reassured by your opinion of the inside rooms. If I can get a Florida resident rate I might upgrade...we'll see. You have a wonderful sense of humor...thanks for making me laugh and dream about our upcoming cruise. I was also happy to see the three night has the pirate party...I did not know that either.:thumbsup2

Semper Fi to your son...I'm a USMC wife. (Hubby did 26 years!)

Thanks again!:goodvibes

Dreamfinder..could you adopt me and my family?? You alone have convinced me that i HAVE to go on a dc now. thanks so much for your wonderful tr!

Whew, let me get caught up here. I haven't checked in for a while.

DisneyDudet, the purses were pretty much in the $20 - 30 range, depending on your negotiating skills. The girls told me that the best strategy is to go into this situation with your very top price etched in mental stone, and don't go above that. The technique is called "bracketing," and the seller will give you a stupidly high price, you counter with your stupidly low price without blinking. Do some quick mental math to see where the middle is, and finish up your negotiations somewhere substantially below that middle. And simply walk away if you can't come to terms. They'll most likely meet your price. Treat it like a game, and remember ... they can't make a living if they don't sell product, and they'd rather make some money than NO money.

Lookingfoward, that's terrific that you've celebrated your first year! And you had one of the hardest jobs in the Corps - that of Marine wife! (Although being a Marine parent isn't exactly a cakewalk, either.) Have fun!

Inkedupmomma, we'd be happy to adopt you. Ask me anything ... and you don't have to pm me with oblique questions ... all of us are smarter than one of us, so I'd ask right here. Folks will help you, as I will.
