3 day land 4 day sea

I was wondering with all the questions about using cash vs. using points for the cruise could someone answer this for me. If I was to book a 3 day land/4 day at sea cruise, should I book the package deal and stay at the resort that is part of the package or should I book only a 4 day cruise then stay on land using points and staying at one of the villas ? The package deal includes park passes. We were looking at the Aug. 26-Sept 2, 2004. There are 5 of us. 2 adults, 4yr old, 13 yr old, and 16 yr old. The quoted price on disney cruise line was $5,964.25 This is staying at the Beachclub. Vacation protection and ground transfers are included.
